DESCRIPTION: MY Tiburon vehicles have factory fixed (non-adjustable) front and rear suspension camber angles. A vehicle may slightly pull or drift to one side on smooth, level road surfaces if the cross camber value is greater than 0.5 degrees, even though the vehicle s alignment values are within specifications. Cross camber value = [+ or -] left wheel camber value - [+ or -] right wheel camber value. Camber-out = +ve and camber-in = -ve. If a customer describes a slight pull or drift of the vehicle or indicates that driver input is necessary to maintain straight ahead steering, this condition may be caused by a cross camber value greater than 0.5 degrees. To reduce the cross camber value, EZ Cam TM XR camber angle adjusting bolts, supplied by Specialty Products Company, may be used. NOTE: The camber bolts do not address a pull or drift present during vehicle braking. DIAGNOSIS: Verify that matching original equipment tires and wheels are on the vehicle. Inspect the vehicle for any worn or damaged steering or front suspension components, including wheel bearings. Check and adjust tire pressures to specification. Inspect tires for any abnormal wear. Refer to Wheel & Tire Diagnosis in the Suspension Section of the appropriate Shop Manual. Road test the vehicle. Cross switch front tires (non-directional tires only). If the pull or drift changes after switching the tires, refer the customer to the tire manufacturer. Page 1 of 5

2 Verify that no brake drag is present and that the pull or drift condition is present with the transmission in neutral. If no problems are found and the vehicle still pulls or drifts on smooth, level road surfaces, check the vehicle for alignment values. If the cross camber value is greater than 0.5 degrees, follow the repair procedure provided in this bulletin to reduce this value. PART INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR MODEL FRONT CAMBER KIT PART NUMBER REAR CAMBER KIT PART NUMBER REMARKS TIBURON PN PN Front Strut: Replace 14 mm upper bolt Rear Strut: Replace 12 mm upper bolt NOTE: Front and rear camber bolt kits may be obtained from Hyundai Parts Distribution Centers (PDCs). CAMBER ADJUSTMENT: If the cross camber is greater than 0.5 degrees, select the wheel whose camber value varies the most from the specification value and replace the front strut upper bolt with the camber bolt kit part listed above. In some situations, the camber bolt kit may also be required on the opposite side to adjust the cross camber to 0.0 degrees while maintaining each individual camber angle to specification. NOTE: Never compensate camber angles outside the specification values. This could affect vehicle handling and tire wear. 3 SERVICE PROCEDURE: 1. Measure wheel alignment to determine the amount of camber angle change required. 2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly of the side where the camber bolt kit will be installed. 3. Remove the strut upper mounting bolt and discard it. 4. Line up the small tab with the cam on the bolt. 4 5. Install the bolt with the large tab out toward the wheel for positive camber or in away from the wheel for negative camber at this location (upper strut mounting bolt). Add the lock nut, snug, but do not tighten. 6. Loosen the lower strut mounting bolt. 7. Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly and re-compensate the alignment equipment. Rotate the EZ Cam XR bolt to obtain desired camber reading. TIP: Prior to final alignment, the spindle camber angle may be adjusted close to the desired value with a magnetic base adjustable camber gauge as shown. The magnetic camber gauge may be purchased from Specialty Products Company, P/N Page 4 of 5

5 8. Torque bolts as follows: 74 ~ 81 lb. ft. (100 ~ 110 Nm) 52 ~ 58 lb. ft. (70 ~ 78 Nm) NOTE: Always check for proper clearance between suspension components and other components of the vehicle. 9. Complete alignment and road test vehicle.
