2 Message from the Mayor It is my pleasure to welcome you back to the Mayor s Christmas Carols here at our magnificent Broadwater Parklands. Christmas is a special time for the Gold Coast, as we come together as a community to celebrate the year that was. This year s carols will be led by headline act, Luke Kennedy and again showcase some great, local artists including David De Vito, The Lion s Den, Candice Skjonnemand, The Full Stops and even our own Councillor, Bob La Castra! It wouldn t be the Mayor's Christmas Carols without spectacular fireworks, so be sure to stay for the display which will finish off the evening. But, not before a very special Christmas guest arrives to greet the kids so make sure they keep their eyes peeled... I hope these Carols provide an enjoyable evening for you and your family, as a small way that the City can thank you for your contributions to the Gold Coast this year. We are fortunate to live in one of the best cities in the world, blessed by a picturesque location, enviable lifestyle and filled with people who are positive about the future ahead. My family and I are proud to call the Gold Coast home and it remains a privilege to serve you as Mayor. And I look forward to working even harder in the New Year, to ensure our City remains the ideal place to live, visit, study and invest in. On behalf of the City, may you and your family have a safe, joy-filled Christmas and a very happy New Year! TOM TATE MAYOR

There s a holy hush around us as God s glory feels this place I ve touched the hem of His garment, I can almost see His face And my heart is overflowing with the fullness of His joy I know without a doubt that I ve been with the Lord

12 THE FIRST NOEL The First Noel, the Angels did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay In fields where they lay keeping their sheep On a cold winter's night that was so deep. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel! They looked up and saw a star Shining in the East beyond them far And to the earth it gave great light And so it continued both day and night. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel! And by the light of that same star Three Wise men came from country far To seek for a King was their intent And to follow the star wherever it went. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel! This star drew nigh to the northwest O'er Bethlehem it took its rest And there it did both pause and stay Right o'er the place where Jesus lay. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel! Then entered in those Wise men three Full reverently upon their knee And offered there in His presence Their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel! Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord That hath made Heaven and earth of nought And with his blood mankind has bought. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel Born is the King of Israel!

13 WINTER WONDERLAND Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, In the lane, snow is glistening A beautiful sight, We're happy tonight. Walking in a winter wonderland. Gone away is the bluebird, Here to stay is a new bird He sings a love song, As we go along, Walking in a winter wonderland. In the meadow we can build a snowman, Then pretend that he is Parson Brown He'll say: Are you married? We'll say: No man, But you can do the job When you're in town. Later on, we'll conspire, As we dream by the fire To face unafraid, The plans that we've made, Walking in a winter wonderland. In the meadow we can build a snowman, And pretend that he's a circus clown We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman, Until the other kids knock him down. When it snows, ain't it thrilling, Though your nose gets a chilling We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way, Walking in a winter wonderland.

There's bound to be talk tomorrow - Think of my life long sorrow At least there will be plenty implied - If you caught pneumonia and died I really can't stay - Get over that hold out Ah, but it's cold outside Oh, baby, it's cold outside Oh, baby, it's cold outside

Chorus Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Had a very shiny nose, And if you ever saw it, You would even say it glows. All of the other reindeer Used to laugh and call him names; They never let poor Rudolph Join in any reindeer games. Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say, Rudolph with your nose so bright, Won't you guide my sleigh tonight? Chorus Then how the reindeer loved him As they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, You'll go down in history.

36 RUN RUN RUDOLPH Out of all the reindeers you know you're the mastermind Run, run Rudolph, Randalph ain't too far behind Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down Run, run Rudolph 'cause I'm reelin' like a merry-go-round Said Santa to a boy child "What have you been longing for?" "All I want for Christmas is a Rock and Roll electric guitar" And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a shooting star Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town, come on Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down Run, run Rudolph, reeling like a merry-go-round Said Santa to a girl child "What would please you most to get?" "A little baby doll that can cry, sleep, and wet" And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a Saber jet Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down Run, run Rudolph 'cause I'm reelin' like a merry-go-round

40 SLEIGH RIDE Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, Ring-ting-tingling too, Come on, it's lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you, Outside the snow is falling And friends are calling, "Yoo hoo", Come on, it's lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you. Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, Let's go, let's look at the show, We're riding in a wonderland of snow. Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap, It's grand, just holding your hand, We're riding along with a song Of a wintry fairy land. Our cheeks are nice and rosy, And comfy cozy are we, We're snuggled up together Like two birds of a feather would be, Let's take that road before us, And sing a chorus or two, Come on, it's lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you. There's a birthday party At the home of Farmer Gray, It'll be the perfect ending of a perfect day, We'll be singing the songs We love to sing without a single stop, At the fireplace while we watch The chestnuts pop; Pop! Pop! Pop! There's a happy feeling Nothing in the world can buy, When they pass around the coffee And the pumpkin pie, It'll nearly be like a picture print By Currier and Ives, These wonderful things are the things We remember all through our lives! Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, Ring-ting-tingling too, Come on, it's lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you, Outside the snow is falling And friends are calling, "Yoo hoo", Come on, it's lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you. Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, Let's go, let's look at the show, We're riding in a wonderland of snow. Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, It's grand, just holding your hand, We're riding along with a song Of a wintry fairy land. Our cheeks are nice and rosy, And comfy cozy are we, We're snuggled up together Like two birds of a feather would be, Let's take that road before us And sing a chorus or two, Come on, it's lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you. Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, Whoa!
