How to get started After successful installation of QuoteSpeed workstation program and firewall settings (if necessary) Make sure that your internet connection is open Start QuoteSpeed by double click on the green QuoteSpeed Icon Enter your Login Name and Password, which you have received from our Subscription department. Please be aware, that these are Case sensitive and must be entered exactly as mentioned within the e mail. Some customer prefer to copy and paste. Press Login We recommend changing your password: Select menu Setup and choose Change User Password. 3.1 General QuoteSpeed supports Drag & Drop function in many cases. (Keep left mouse button pressed, pull onto the target area and release it.). This allows a fast and intuitive way of working Create Configuration Files Your individually created desktop should be saved in a configuration file (file with the extension.cfg). You may save as many different configuration files as you like. Go to the File menu and choose Save Config. A Save As window will appear requesting the user to define a directory and a name for his configuration file. It is suggested to choose the same directory that the Setup procedure created or the windows default directory. Use a file name that will be easily recognisable in the future. Press the OK button. Or click on the Button Save.

5 The QuoteSpeed CD contains some sample files. Save all files you might like to use in your directory C:\Program Files\Morningstar\QS\SampleCfgs Auto Load Configuration After the configuration file has been saved, if this Setup is the one the user wishes to use as default upon turning on the system, the following procedures should be followed: Go to the Menu Setup and select Login / Configuration menu The window Auto Login / Load Save Options appears. Check the Auto Load configuration option and type the full name and path of the configuration file. The browse button can be pressed to help the user locate the file. Exit the Dialog with OK. This action will enable the user to call up his configuration every time he logs in the QuoteSpeed program Changing Colours, Font and Configuration QuoteSpeed allows the user to change Colours, Font and the Configuration to any/all of the screens. There are two methods of changing Colours, Font and Configuration. One is through the Default settings which affect all new screens and the other, through the Control Menu Box of individual screens. Alternatively you may use the quick menu by clicking the right mouse button inside the screen or use the Toolbar buttons. or or Default Settings The first method is through the Default Settings which is found in the menu Setup. When changing either colour, font or configuration through Default Settings all the screens, that have not been Setup, will be the changed according to what has been selected. Note: This method will not update already activated screens.

6 3.1.5 Control Menu Box The second method allows you to change colour, font or configuration of a particular screen without the other screens being influenced. This is done through the Control-menu box which is situated in the upper-left corner of the screen. To change the colour, font or configuration of an individual screen simply click with the left mouse button the control-menu box. Select the command Properties where all three (colour, font, config) selections are then made available. Hint: When changes have been made always remember to save the changes. If the window s title row is hidden (Hide Caption) you may open the control menu of the active window by opening any menu and move by pressing or or press <Ctrl> + H These commands may also be accessed via quick menu of each screen (right mouse key). You may alternatively use following hotkeys: < Shift + Ctrl + O > or button to change the screen configuration.

7 3.1.6 Detached Screens The functionality Detached Screens can be used to display one (or more) QuoteSpeed Screens outside of the QuoteSpeed Desktop. To set a single screen to detached open the control menu of that screen and click on detached. Alternatively use the Toolbar button Detach Workspaces If a user opens more than 1 cfg at the same time, it is easy to switch between the cfg files fast. Tabs are displayed in the lower right corner. Click on one of the tabs to switch to this cfg. Click on the Arrows to view all tabs for loaded files. For optimization of data load only the active cfg file is updated and e.g. detached screens are only displayed for the active cfg file. However Alerts are triggered also for inactive cfg files. The complete setup with all cfg files can be saved as workspace.

8 Open Menu File and select Save Workspace. Selecting Open workspace will open a complete workspace at once. Close workspace closes a complete workspace. When saving workspaces make sure to save also the relevant cfg files Screen saving Some screens can be saved independent of a cfg file and loaded to another. This feature is available for Multi Screens, Alert Screens, Chart Screens, and Data Viewer Screen where many users take a lot of effort to customize them to individual needs. The screen can be saved from the Quick menu by selecting save screen. Afterwards it can be loaded into another cfg from the menu File by selecting Load screen.

10 Command line QuoteSpeed offers a Command line, where a user can enter symbols, Exchange IDs, ISINs and other commands. This command line can be displayed in the upper or lower area of the Desktop. As long as any QuoteSpeed screen is the active window (besides Database screen) the keyboard can be used without any further manual step. In this case the symbol of Microsoft has been entered and the command can be e.g. completed by pressing <Enter>. Keyboard commands are described in each chapter as well as you can find a summary of Hotkeys within chapter Hotkeys.

11 4. QuoteSpeed Screens QuoteSpeed screens are windows to create your individual desktop. There are many different types of Screens available. To open new screens, choose the Screens menu, this shows you the selection; select the type you like to use. You should use a screen name that will be easily recognisable in the future. In some cases the screen name will be defined automatically by ticker symbol. Alternatively the New Multi Screen button from the Toolbar may be used. 4.1 Multi Screens A Multi screen provides the possibility of a quick overview on securities that are critical or important to the user. The user may categorise the information according to his requirements. He can also design every Multi screen individually. Columns can be added, deleted, or edited. Additional visual effects may be set for Alerts, Net Change Up or Down, News Alert, Updated flat etc. Portfolio calculations can be included. Each Multi screen can install up to 200 stocks, stock options, indexes, commodities, statistics etc., regardless of sequence, stock exchange or other variables. You can create as many different Multi Screens as you like How to modify Multi Screens When positioning your mouse pointer on the header of each column in a Multi Screen, the mouse pointer changes to a spreadsheet-like image, at this point clicking the right mouse button a quick menu with the following commands appears:

13 4.1.2 Configuration The Config Multi screen dialog box can be opened either form the Quick menu or by toolbar button It is used to configure settings like table grid, flashing and highlight functions. Send Trades to Ticker Display Settlement Price in Last price field for Futures To define a selected ticker tape with only including the symbols added to this multi screen. To define the behaviour of the Last price field after settlement price for the day is received. The default setting would be to display the settlement price as instruments are usually closed after Settlement until the next session opens. However for some instruments the settlement price is occurring during in open trading session Comments Besides much other information you may insert a column Comment onto a Multi Screen, which allows you to insert your comments. Right Mouse click on the header of the Multi Screen Select Insert Choose from the list field name Comments and press OK

14 To insert your remarks Right click on the specific row. Select Comment Enter your text and press OK Instead of Comment Columns there may be used also Comment Lines. To insert a comment line Right click on the first empty line at the bottom of the Multi Screen Select Comment Enter your text and press OK

15 Move the Comment line onto the desired place by drag & drop Insert Symbols Insert by Quick Menu Choose Insert from the quick menu a type the ticker symbol. To search for a specific symbol, please refer to chapter 5 Database Insert by Keyboard Type the ticker symbol or exchange ID (WKN, Valoren Number, Greek symbol etc.) then press Insert and enter. 16 Insert from Toolbar Button The button Add symbol can be used to add a symbol to a Multi Screen Insert by Drag and Drop Functions You may drag and drop a symbol from any other screen or from the database search windows onto a Multi Screen Quick Menu A right click in the table of a Multi Screen offers a quick menu with many selections to view other screens or functionality for the same symbol as well as screen configuration features. Some of the most often used are: Chart open a chart window for this instrument News open a news search for this instrument News All Symbols open a News search for all instruments in this screen. This is a very powerful tool, for performance reasons we do not recommend to use this extensively, when having too many symbols installed on the Multi Screen. Option open an Option screen for options on this instrument Composite open a Composite screen which shows updates from many exchanges for the same instrument Times and Sales open a times & sales for this instrument Sorting Functionality You may sort all symbols of a Multi screen manually while inserting them. Later you may use drag and drop to sort them manually. You may automatically sort all symbols of a Multi screen by alphabet or any other field available in the Multi Screen, if you open the quick menu on the respective field of the header bar and choose sort. When you open the quick menu on a distinct field of the header bar, QuoteSpeed will sort in most cases by this field.

17 In case you have entered one or more Comment Lines into the Multi Screen splitting the screen into various sections, the sorting will be done only across each section Auto Sorting Function In some cases a sorting, especially when sorting by changing criteria auto-sorting functionality will be useful. Right click in the Multi screen and select Properties / Config Mark KEEP SYMBOLS SORTED AUTOMATICALLY and choose the interval in seconds Calculated Fields Multi Screen offers basic calculation functionality. Insert Column Formula by right click on the header row Right click into the field, where you like to display the calculation results to open the input window. Enter the formula for your calculation To refer to a symbol s last price you can type in this symbol To refer to a different field enter the symbol in {} brackets followed by a comma and the field code e.g. {VOD.ln,4} for Bid Price of Vodaphone share. Following calculations are supported Description + Addition - Difference * Multiplication

18 / Division ( ) Normal brackets For field number see the full QuoteSpeed Manual. Unlike e.g. MS Excel there is no need to start the formula with a =. If more difficult calculations are needed than the supported ones, we recommend exporting the real time data into an EXCEL spreadsheet via DDE link and calculating within this sheet. Below sample calculates the Mid price of the share of American express traded in US.

19 4.2 Single Screens A Single Screen shows all available real time and fundamental information for a specific stock, stock option, future, future option, index or bond in one window. The real time data is displayed separately from the fundamental data Opening Single Screen Sample for a US Future To view the fundamental data please double click the left mouse button anywhere on the single screen or open the control menu and choose Properties / Show Fundamental or press the Hotkeys: < Ctrl + U >. Displayed data varies depending on the market. Viewing a single screen is done in either of the following options: Command line Type in the symbol and press the enter key. Symbol < Enter > Or type the local exchange ID (SEDOL, Valoren No., Sicovam, WKN) add the QuoteSpeed database code for the country and press Enter WKN <QuoteSpeed database code for country > < Enter > Besides this you might also use the ISIN. ISIN < Enter >

20 Quick Menu of other Screens A mouse-click with the right mouse button on most of QuoteSpeed s screens opens a quick menu containing the entry Single Screen Drag & Drop You may pull a symbol from any QuoteSpeed screen onto an open Single screen and release mouse button Toolbar Button You may click on the toolbar button Single Screen.

21 4.3 Option Screens General An Option Screen provides a comprehensive overview of all options of an equity, future or index. The option screen displays: puts and calls on one screen strike prices in ascending order expiration dates real-time information of the underlying value The user may add or delete easily columns to customise the displayed information. Open the options screen from the underlying instrument with right click menu or from menu screens or Quick Menu of Options Screens The Quick Menu of the option screen offers following opportunities: Alert Single Quick Quote News Chart Composite Times & Sales Option Eval. Properties Use as default headers Reset default headers Show Euro to open Edit Alert window to insert an alert for this symbol to open the corresponding single screen to send the symbol to the quick quote bar to search for news on this symbol to open corresponding Chart screen to open corresponding composite screen to open corresponding times & sales list to open option evaluation calculator to change layout of the screen an to access to save changes in the columns (e.g. additional columns, adjusted width) to set the table layout to the default columns. to switch display of the prices between Euro and local currency

22 If you open the Quick menu from the header line, it is referring to the underlying equity, on the table rows it is referring to each single option Option Evaluation Option Evaluation is available according to Black & Scholes model for: Theoretical Value Delta Theta Implied Volatility Gamma Vega The values may be displayed in an option screen in columns, as well as in s special calculator, this can be accessed by right mouse click on the option screen and selecting OPTION EVALUATION

23 4.4 Composite Screens There are 4 different composite screens: Stocks Stock options Commodities FOREX (US or non US) Open the Composite Screen from any other display of the instrument by right click or from menu Screens or Composite Screen for Stocks The Composite Screen for Stocks displays all exchanges in USA where a particular stock is traded, along with the corresponding last trade price. Double click on the specific row of the multi screen opens a Single Screen of the instrument, updating only from this specific market. Using drag and drop, symbols for a specific market can be dragged onto a Multi Screen or other screens. However charting and Times & Sales Screens are available only for composite symbols. Non - US For all Non US shares there will be displayed all exchanges, where this share is traded under the same ISIN. If you have subscribed for FOREX, the prices will be automatically adjusted to the currency of the first exchange.

24 4.4.2 Composite Screen for Stock Options Note: Only very few stock options are traded in more than one exchange Composite Screen for Futures The Composite Screen for Futures is a predefined Multi Screen displaying all traded months for a particular commodity Forex Composite Screen FOREX Composite Screen is a Multi Screen, which has automatically installed all Symbols for each contributor and the Composite Symbol for one cross rate.

25 4.5 Forex Cross Rates Important: All values displayed are calculated by QuoteSpeed system and may have small differences to official prices. 4.6 Quick Quote Quick Quote enables the user of QuoteSpeed to quickly check the most important real time information of any security, without leaving or disrupting the screen that is being viewed Accessing Quick Quote If the user wishes to access the Quick Quote Command he simply selects the menu Screens and then selects the command Quick Quote An input window will appear where the needed symbol can be typed. Alternatively you may use the command line: Symbol < Ctrl + Enter > Or the toolbar button

26 4.7 Ranking Screens QuoteSpeed offers an effective ranking tool for all exchanges. Ranking screens are available during market hours and after market closing up to midnight local system time. Choose from the menu Screens the command rankings to open Open Ranking Screen window Select the Type of Ranking wanted. Before selecting the market please select the instrument type on the right side of the screen. After making your choice please confirm by pressing the OK button.

27 4.7.2 Ranking Screen This screen offers in the title bar the main information about the type and exchange selected. Followed by a table with detailed real-time information More Details on listed Instruments To see more details on the listed instruments you have following possibilities: Double click the left mouse button on the selected symbol will open the corresponding single screen. A selected symbol may be dragged and dropped in any open screen available. You press the left mouse button on the symbol, hold it and pull the mouse pointer in the target screen. The quick menu offers following possibilities: Single Quick Quote Chart News Option Composite Times & Sales Level 2 Screen Properties Font Colors Reset Config Use current headers as default to open single screen. to send to quick quote. to open corresponding Chart screen. to search for news available. to open corresponding option screen. to open corresponding composite screen. to open corresponding times & sales. to open Level 2 screen to change font and font size to change colours to reset to use current column settings as default

28 4.8 Ticker Tickertape is a very classic tool for fast or continuous information on market activities. Our tickertapes display following information: Symbol Ticker Symbol Volume Trade Volume divided by 100 Last Price reported for this trade To install Ticker You may install two different tickertapes in each configuration file. They may installed be both on top of the desktop, both on the bottom or one an each. Select Ticker from Screens Menu or Press Ctrl + T simultaneously < Ctrl + T > The Ticker Control window is displayed Upper Ticker Lower Ticker Market Centre Lower Limit Colours Font Colour Mode t" Position: Hide to set parameters for the upper of both tickertapes to set parameters for the lower of both tickertapes to select an exchange to set a lower limit on the volume of the trades reported to edit colours to edit font selects, if colour change is depending on last tick up/down or net change up/down defines the position of display: to switch off a ticker tape and hide it

Note: The lower limit often is used as a filter, when heavy market activity does not allow proper reading and control.

30 4.9 Times & Sales Times & Sales is a list of all trades reported for a symbol. It is often used to follow up market activity very detailed. You may check if your limit was executed correctly. To open Times & Sales use button The standard configuration contains following information: Date Time Price Last Prices Bid Best Bid prices Ask Volume Info Best Ask prices short Info about trade condition and exchange for US stocks or contributor bank and city for Forex quotes. The header displays the most recent information including net change and trade count. On the bottom of this screen you will find R- + R+ to switch from tick by tick resolution to 1 minute, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, or 1 week periods. Lock to prevent automatic scrolling to the end of file when a new trade is received. This may ease investigations during market hours. Print to print the times & sales list Export Selected to export the list to a.text file if this switch is activated, only the selected data will be printed or exported.

31 4.10 Bond Calculator In many places, where Bonds are displayed (e.g. Database tree, Multi Screen, Single Screen for bonds) there is an entry in the quick menu Bond Calculator. You may open it from the main menu SCREENS, select Bond Calculator or use the hotkey <Ctrl + B> This calculator can be used to display Current Yield, Yield to Maturity and Duration on Basis of Last Price, Bid or Ask as well as to calculate these values with modifications of price, interest rate or maturity. You may also drag & drop symbols from other screens onto the Bond Calculator.

32 4.11 VWAP Calculator With VWAP Calculator QuoteSpeed offers an excellent tool to calculate this important figure. VWAP Volume Weighted Average Price since the opening of the session. The importance of VWAP is increasing as some exchanges and brokers offer order execution on this price by the end of the day. VWAP is calculated on tick by tick data and the customized calculations use the tick by tick data of the chart database, if there is not enough tick by tick data available the next possible interval in chart database is used (e.g. 1 Minute). Important: For exact calculation it is important to receive each tick (No interruptions or outages). As well sufficient Tick y Tick Chart database is important. In all other cases the value is estimated. However a calculation on the basis of 1 Minute data is sufficient in most cases. Easiest way to open VWAP Calculator is the Toolbar button The upper row displays real time data of the instrument. Below you find the settings for the Customized Calculations. The default is since beginning of current day. If enough tick by tick data is available, in the lower area there are displayed the 10 trades with most influence on the calculated VWAP (Price x volume)

33 4.12 Level 2 Screen Level 2 screen is designed to show all the available information for level 2 data. However it may be used also with Market Depth information for exchanges, where the user subscription does not include complete order book. In this case some fields will be empty, where the respective data is not available from exchange. With level 2 data subscribed Level 2 screen is accessed by double click on a stock symbol (instead of single screen). In addition it may be accessed for all markets from the quick menu of any screen or the toolbar. The screen is divided in parts: Header displays ISIN and market segment/sector information Trades information about the latest trade Level 1 other LSE level 1 data Level 1 plus LSE Level 1+ data Fundamental some fundamental fields (Trading currency and country of origin) Yellow Stripe enhanced Best Bid/Ask information available in Level 1+ Volume bar graphical display for the order sizes Title Title bar for Level 2 data

34 4.13 Data Viewer Data viewer has been originally designed to display Bond Yield and Price Curves; however, it is a quite flexible tool showing a graphical comparison of a group of instruments selected by user. There is no restriction on instrument type. The screen contains a graphical display in the upper part and a table view below. Graphical display by default displays the Yield to maturity for all instruments sorted by maturity date. The table displays the corresponding data including the instrument symbol. Data Viewer can be opened from menu Screens. or with button To add symbols to data viewer there are basically three options: Drag and drop from Database screen or any other screen onto data viewer. From right mouse click menu select Insert Symbol and enter the symbol. From right mouse click menu select Load symbol list. The list of symbols is fully user definable; there are no restrictions on instrument type. Remark: If you drag and drop a multi symbol selection e.g. from database screen, data viewer symbol list will be initialized. When intending to add more symbols, please insert them one by one. For Forex and Money Market Symbols by default all spot and forward bids are displayed.

35 5. Database QuoteSpeed has an integrated database which keeps symbols and codes for all shares, bonds, futures, FOREX cross rates and other instruments. In this way QuoteSpeed supports you in an optimal way of searching for symbols, codes or the names, without having to search in long and unfriendly symbol directories. Select from menu DATABASE: Database search or use the toolbar button. Select in the left window Indices, Shares, Warrants, Bonds, Funds, Futures, LME or FOREX and click on the + sign next to your choice. Select from the displayed list (most of the time by country) and click on the + sign next to it. Continue in the same way through all levels. On the right side you will get a list of all instruments in the selected group containing symbols, names and real time data. The first level of the tree lets you select the instrument type, the second level the country, the third and following levels vary depending on the instrument type and country. Now you can select one symbol to Drag& drop it onto another open screen Double click to open a single screen Right click to open another screen from a selection You may select more than one symbol by pressing <shift> or <ctrl> and drag and drop this selection onto a Multi screen. 5.1 Database Search Functionality Besides the tree QuoteSpeed offers following search functionality to find a specific symbol.

36 Enter a word, which is contained in the name of the instrument, in the white field. It does not matter, if the word is in the beginning of the name, however you should enter the complete word. You may enter several words, and then the search result will be a list of those instruments, where the name contains all these words. The order of the search words is irrelevant and the search is not case sensitive. Alternatively you can enter exchange ID or ISIN. Click on SEARCH NOW to start the search. After a short period of time all instruments matching your search will be displayed in the list on the right side with symbol, name and current price as well as instrument type and exchange. However this list can contain a maximum of 500 instruments. In case the list contains 500 instruments, but not the one, you are searching, specify your search further e.g. by using the advanced functionalities. In some cases, where no instrument matches your search, the next instrument in alphabetical order will be displayed. 5.2 Charts The database section Charts displays all Charts stored on this QuoteSpeed server. The columns show the symbol, the charted field, the company name, the number of intervals, the number of entries in the daily interval, the start date of daily chart, the last date of daily chart and the last update time. To open the selected chart double click or drag & drop the symbol onto an existing chart screen.

Alert System The alert system is a self-programmable visual and/or audible indicator which tracks and notifies the users of movements of selected securities, stock options, commodities, commodity options. The Alert feature keeps track of the user s limits automatically. The user gets optionally acoustic, optical messages or even files records whenever a limit is filled. These messages will alert you about movements of the market, even if you working in another Windows application. The alert screen is a table containing by default following information Symbol Symbol of all equities an alert is entered for Time Time or date of last Trade # Number of Events having fulfilled the alert condition Alert Condition Short description of the alert condition entered with real time data You may insert other fields, whenever you need them. Condition settings < Smaller than <= Smaller than or equals > Bigger than >= Bigger than or equals == Equals!= Not equal Chg n.a. Changed Not available

38 6.1 Accessing the Alert System From the menu Alerts, select the command Open alert Screen. You may also use the keys Shift and F7 <Shift + F7 > 6.2 Installing Alerts There are two different ways in Installing Symbols on to the Alert Screen. From the menu Alerts select the command New Alert An Edit Alert window will appear: Alert Condition: This section defines under which conditions the alert is set. Symbol Type in the symbol the alert is edited for. Last Displays Last trade price for symbol entered. Field Under this section the condition of the alert must be defined. Standard mathematical expressions are used (>smaller than <greater than etc.), moreover several conditions like the Last Price, Net Change, Total Volume and others, can be used by choosing the preferable option from a pull down menu. Connections with other existing alerts may be defined to express more complex conditions. Action: This section defines the action taken, when an alert is set: Show Message A message written in the blank space will be displayed in a message window. Run Any windows command entered will be executed. Start After Here you may define how many events (trades) must meet the condition to set the alert. Default is 0 to set alert with first event. Stop After Here you may define, how many times the action is taken. Default is 1. Log to File Alerts are downloaded on an event file, which can be reviewed at a later stage. Beep A physical noise will be heard.

39 Alternatively you may use the QUICK MENU of ALERT SCREEN: Click the right mouse button when mouse pointer is positioned in alert screen. From quick menu select the command Insert to open Edit alert window The third method to open Edit Alert window is to use the function key F7: < F7 > However the easiest method probably is the quick menu of any other screen. The command alert will activate the alert system and open Edit alert window and insert the symbol selected automatically. Alternatively from some screens like single, chart, level 2 you may open the Edit alert window using button

40 7. Chart System QuoteSpeed offers a powerful and professional Chart system. The following features are available: bar charts line charts candlestick charts point & figure charts variable intervals from tick by tick to several weeks a selection of the most important indicators and technical analysis tools Trend lines. The QuoteSpeed Chart system is very user-friendly, offering different methods to proceed. You may choose the method of working which is most convenient for you which is fast and adequate to your needs. Sample of chart with Moving average, second chart for comparison, and Volume

41 7.1 To open Chart Screen After installing a symbol in the Charts database and waiting for some real-time data you may like to view a chart. To open the chart screen you may use the methods from previous chapter Right mouse click on the symbol to open Quick menu and select Chart Drag and drop a symbol onto an open Chart Use Button Select a chart from the database tree Right click on any other screen Type in the symbol and press < F10 > Symbol < F10 > In addition you may enter separated by a space a parameter for the resolution to be displayed m Minute t 10 minutes h Hour d day w week MSFT 5m<F10> MSFT 4w<F10> opens a chart with a resolution of 5 minutes per bar. opens a chart with a resolution of 4 weeks per bar. The OPEN CHART SCREEN window will appear. Type in the symbol. Select the FIELD you like to chart.

42 Select a resolution and confirm by OK. If the desired resolution is not mentioned in the drop down list it can be entered using the abbrevations m Minute t 10 minutes h Hour d day w week with the relevant interval. Sample: 3m for a three minute bar chart. You may also select a specified date and time, where to start or end the chart display. The default setting will be to end with the current price. Alternatively you may select to display a chart for current day or current week. If one of these is selected the display will be automatically adjusted to load and display the complete day or week. Indicators will be calculated based on this data. You may also get this screen by selecting the command Open Chart Screen from Charts menu. When you start in another screen, you may open quick menu for the selected symbol and choose command Chart A very fast method is to drag and drop a symbol from any screen onto an open Chart screen. 7.2 Structure of the Chart Screen Header Symbol Open High Low Close Volume Time Ticker symbol Price of first trade during trading session Highest trade or bid price Lowest trade or bid price Last trade during that trading session Total volume traded during current trading session Corresponding time for Last The main area by default displays a bar chart. On the bottom you find horizontally the time axis and on the right side vertically price axis. A small arrow called real time pointer highlights the last trade. In the lower right corner you will find six switches < to scroll displayed section to left side > to scroll displayed section to right side + to enlarge tick width - to reduce tick width R+ to enlarge interval for chart resolution (tick by tick, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week) R- to reduce interval for chart resolution

43 7.2.1 Mouse Tracking When you move the mouse pointer over the chart keeping the left mouse button pressed, you will see two lines allowing you to follow distinct values closer. Simultaneously the values for the bar pointer at are displayed in the header line and in the value window: Open, High, Low, Close and Period. Mouse tracking may be switched on and off as follows: Open quick menu by pressing right mouse button. Select Properties and Config or < Ctrl + Shift + o > On the left side of the Config Chart Screen window you may mark or unmark track mouse switch. Confirm by OK Change the Chart format QuoteSpeed offers several chart formats Bar Chart (default) Tick by Tick Candlestick Chart Point & Figure Line Chart Open Quick Menu from any place on the Chart Screen and select Properties and Config Or alternatively: < Shift + Ctrl + O > In the right field of the Config Chart Screen you may switch Bar Candlestick Point & Figure Line

44 Alternatively you may use the toolbar buttons to switch between the views: Change Scale of Chart Windows By click on the border between the Chart display and the separate indicator display and drag you may change the height of the corresponding windows infinitely. One of the windows can even disappear completely Zoom-In Function User can select a chart area to be zoomed into by pressing <SHIFT> and select rectangle using the mouse.

45 To go back to real time updating display press simultaneously <CTRL> + <END> Changing Default Intervals In every chart screen you can change the resolution by clicking the buttons R+ and R-. The default settings are Tick by Tick 1 Minute Interval 5 Minute Interval 10 Minute Interval 1 Hour Interval 1 Day Interval 1 Week Interval Display Value Windows On mouse click within the chart itself value display windows are opened. These displays include values of additional symbols and indicators at the given point. Value windows stay always in front of any QuoteSpeed screen and can be moved flexible by drag and drop within and out of the chart window in order not to cover important displays. They can be detached and attached with the chart itself.

46 The number of available Value windows can be configured from Properties /Config by setting the value for Value windows. Value display can be used for mouse track, if mouse button is kept pressed. Value display can be configured for update with the latest chart values by right mouse click into the value window and selection of SHOW REALTIME VALUES. The displays can be closed again by right mouse click into them and select Close Save Charts Chart screens may be saved independent of the configuration file by right mouse click and Save Screen Adding Additional Symbols for Comparison For direct comparisons up to 9 additional symbols can be added to a chart. Click with the right mouse button into the chart screen to open the Quick menu. Select Add Symbol

47 Enter the symbol. Top Chart Separate Chart Normalization: None Offset Factor Last Trade Inverse Price Color to add the additional symbol to the main chart window. to display the new symbol in a separate window below the first. to adjust the values of the additional symbol to the price scale as follows: no normalization. adds the Value to the prices. multiplies the prices with the Value normalizes the chart at actual last trade. The chart will be displayed inverse. to define the colour of the second chart pen. All settings can be edited or deleted later by selecting Edit Chart Symbols from the quick menu. Besides that a normalization point can be defined by right mouse click in the chart and selection of Normalize Symbols here.

48 7.2.9 Export function Historical data directly from an open chart into an ASCII file. This export function includes the values for the open studies. Export functionality is available via right mouse click menu using the selection Export Chart Data. The exported comma separated txt file can be easily imported e.g. to excel 7.3 Indicators QuoteSpeed Charts system places on your disposal a variation of technical indicators to support your chart analysis To install Indicators Use the toolbar button Or open the quick menu with the right mouse button. Upper to set the upper band separately Lower to set the lower band separately Empty fields to enter parameters for upper and lower band Colour to select Colour for the indicator Show Values to pre-select whether values for this indicator can be displayed Line Width to select the line width for the indicator, default To edit Indicators You may easily edit indicators already installed: Use the toolbar button Open quick menu with right mouse button Select Indicators, Edit Indicator and open Active Indicators window Select the indicator and press edit to open Edit Indicator window, which is described in previous chapter.

50 7.3.3 Alerts on Indicators Users can now Define Alerts on indicator values. There are options available for indicator reaches a user set value, Indicator crosses chart and one indicator line crosses another indicator line of the same indicator. These Alert settings are available via the Edit Indicator screen. Select the indicator Click on Edit Alert to open Edit Indicator Alert Screen First Select Alert Method and Alert Condition Then Click on Add New or Update Add New Update Delete To set a new Alert on this indicator To update an existing Alert with the current settings. To use this function select the Alert to edit and enter the new settings, then click on Update To delete the selected Alert Alert Methods

51 Message Box to get a message box as soon as Alert is triggered. Message box displays the indicator it is relating to as well as the condition values. Beep To get an acoustical Alert Only one Alert per Tick To get only one message box per interval of chart Alert Condition There are three different options possible Indicator crossing indicator 2 lines of the indicator are crossing Indicator at value the selected line does reach a given value Indicator crossing Chart the selected line crosses the chart of the main instrument. 7.4 Trend lines Trend lines are simple tools for technical analysis, which may be drawn manually in a chart. They are for example fixed by two extreme lows (in an up trend) or highs (in a down trend). You may easily see if a trend is ongoing. The chart crossing the trend line will be a hint for a change of trend To draw Trend lines Use the toolbar button Or open quick menu by right mouse button and select Trendlines, New Trendline.

52 In Edit Trendline window you may define: Source: to define how the trend line should be fixed Free to define free by mouse clicks in two points Horizontal to define free by one mouse click Open to fix with two open prices defined by mouse click High to fix with two high prices defined by mouse click Low to fix with two low prices defined by mouse click Close to fix with two Close prices defined by mouse click. Continue to decide whether a trend line should be continued further than fix point Left to the left side Right to the right side Style to select layout of the line Colour to select colour of the line Fibonacci Select one of the following, if you like to use Fibonacci indicators Fan lines Arcs Retracements Time Relations After confirming the selection in the Edit Trend line window, you select two fix points by mouse click To edit Trend lines To edit a trend line later you proceed: Open quick menu with right mouse button and select Trendlines, Edit Trendline. Select the trend line by mouse click. In the Edit Trendline window you will find now the two fix points with values. Please enter your changes To copy or move Trend lines When you are in Edit trend line (see previous chapter), close the edit Trendline window and right mouse click on the specific trend line, you like to copy or move. Select from the quick menu appearing.

53 Finish with a left mouse click on the desired position. To exit the Edit Trend line mode click again somewhere else on the chart (not on a trend line) To delete Trend lines To delete one trend line: Open quick menu with right mouse button and select Trendlines, Edit Trendline. Select the trend line by mouse click. Press Delete in the Edit Trendline window. To delete all trend lines together use the toolbar button: Open quick menu with right mouse button and select Trendlines, Clear All. Whenever you change the symbol displayed in the Chart screen, all trend lines are deleted automatically.
