1 Mario 3D Mario is a classic game featuring a side scrolling 2D Mario character that can jump to avoid moving enemies and collect coins. In this 3D version, you will program a Mario like character to respond to keyboard controls for movement that includes walking and jumping. In Super Mario Bros., Mario s goal is to rescue the princess. As you re designing your game, consider creating a storyline to explain your main character s motivation. Also include coins to collect, moving enemies to avoid, and how the game ends such as when time runs out, or when the hero reaches a certain location, or when a certain score is achieved. Hero s perspective Hero responds to keyboard controls for movement Hero can jump and fall to the ground Moving enemies Coins to collect Game ending
2 Pacman 3D Pacman is a classic arcade game featuring a yellow circle with a mouth that munches energy balls while ghosts chase it through a maze. While it s currently difficult to create a maze in SLNova, you can still design a 3D Pacman game without walls. Use the Pacman shape for the character you control. Pacman should eat energy balls for points, while avoiding ghosts. You can also create portals for Pacman that teleport Pacman to another location to escape the ghosts. These portals can be color patches on the ground or another breed of agents called portals. Or instead of Pacman bouncing off the edge of the terrain, it will wrap around to the other side. Perhaps you can also have certain power ups that when eaten, allow the Pacman to chase and eat the ghosts, while they are running away. You also need to decide if you want the player to view the game from the top down or from Pacman s perspective and therefore how the movement will map to keyboard keys. 3 Space Invaders Space Invaders is a classic arcade game featuring a Spaceship shooting at enemy alien breeds. Different breeds are worth varying amounts of points that should be displayed in a score box. Use the Spaceship shapes for the character you control. The Spaceship should be able to shoot and kill the enemy aliens while avoiding the enemy fire. Every time the Spaceship kills an alien, the score box should show the updated score. Every time the enemy fire hits the Spaceship, the Spaceship health/ number of lives should decrease. You can also incorporate a special alien worth a higher number of points, but only shows up occasionally. Make sure you include how the game ends the Spaceship loses all its health or all the enemy aliens are eliminated or time runs out. Spaceship responds to keyboard controls for movement Spaceship responds to keyboard controls to shoot at aliens Aliens randomly shoot at spaceship Score box to keep track of aliens killed Health box to keep track of health of Spaceship Game Ending Suggestions: Multiple levels Powerups that allow the Spaceship to move faster/slower or shoot faster/slower
4 Asteroids Asteroids is a classic arcade game featuring a Spaceship flying through an asteroid field. The spaceship can rotate and has a thruster, but when you don t use the thruster, it just keeps flying the direction it s moving in. The asteroids also follow straight paths as they fly through space. When anything, spaceship or asteroid, reaches one edge of the world, it wraps around to the opposite edge so it can keep flying straight. The spaceship can shoot bullets that destroy asteroids. An asteroid hit for the first time splits into two smaller asteroids. A second hit to one of the smaller asteroids destroys it. Any asteroid hitting the spaceship destroys it. Spaceship responds to keyboard controls for movement: up for thruster, left and right to rotate. Spaceship responds to keyboard controls to shoot at asteroids Asteroids split if hit, or disappear if they are small and are hit. Score box to keep track of asteroids destroyed Game Ending Suggestions: Multiple levels Powerups that allow the Spaceship to move faster/slower or shoot faster/slower
5 Tron Tron is a classic arcade game featuring 1 or 2 players that leave a trail of color behind them as they move to trap the other player. On contact with the other player s color trail, the opponent crashes and the game ends. Use the Car shapes for the character you control. The Car should be able to leave a trail of color anywhere it goes. If the other player collides with the Car s trail of color or the Car itself, the other player loses. If the Car collides with the color trail of the other player or the player itself, then the Car loses. You can also incorporate an enemy that randomly draws color trails on the terrain and if the Car collides with those lines, the game ends. Car responds to keyboard controls for movement Car leaves a visible trail behind it Opponent(s) Game Ending
