1 Q. I know about connecting things to my TV and DVD Players. Show me a quick way to get started? A. All our cables are clearly labeled. Please ensure the connections are made per these labels. DVD Output ends should be connected to Outputs of DVD Player TV Input ends should be connected to Inputs of TV (or Stereo/Receiver - Recommended if you have Stereo Receiver) Figure 1 1. Connect microphone's DVD RCA Cable end into the DVD Player's RCA OUTPUT Port 2. Connect microphone's TV RCA Cable end into the TV's RCA INPUT Port 3. Turn microphone on and you should see a red light. Please ensure you have used a fresh battery. Illuminated red indicator does not mean battery is good. 4. Use your TV Remote Control and Turn on the TV and select the input that microphone is connected to. You MUST select the correct TV input channel associated with the TV RCA INPUT Ports on your TV (the port should mention the input number on it). TVs are different. You will be looking for channels like: Video 1, Video 2, Input 1, Input 2, Line1, Line2, Aux, Aux1, Aux2, etc. You DO NOT want channel 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. 5. Turn TV volume higher than normal for testing. You do not need to play a disc to test microphone. Hold microphone close to your mouth and say something to see if you can hear your voice through the microphone. Q. What is a RCA connection? A. RCA connections (male) are shown in Figure 1.

2 Q. What is Vocal on Command (VOC)? A. For video karaoke tracks with Vocal On Command you can turn Vocals on and off with Audio button (Please refer to your DVD Player Owner s Manual) on your DVD Player remote control. Vocal On Command is great way to learn to sing a song you are new to or rusty on. It is also a great way to improve your singing - the pitch, melody and pronunciation of words by singing along with a professional. Q. I have a TV/DVD Player combo unit. Can I use the microphones with this type of unit? A. No. Our Plug-N-Sing microphones cannot be used with TV/DVD Player combination units. For microphones to work as intended, it must be connected in between DVD Player and the TV. However, your TV/DVD Combo Player can be used as the DVD Player connected to another TV with microphone connected in between or your combo unit can be used as TV connected to another DVD Player with microphone connected in between. Q. Will I be able to use by DVD Player with my TV even when the microphone is connected and turned off? A. Yes. All the Audio/Video signals will pass through the microphone even when it is turned off. We recommend leaving the microphone connected and in OFF condition when not in use. Q. My TV is connected to DVD Player with Co-axial cable. How do I connect the Microphone? A. Please also refer to Question 1 1. Connect microphone's DVD Output end of Cable into the DVD Player's RCA OUTPUT Port. 2. Connect microphone's TV Input end of RCA Cable into the TV's RCA INPUT Port. 3. Select the proper INPUT channel on your TV associated with the RCA INPUT Ports you selected on your TV. 4. Turn microphone and TV on. Turn up volumes. Say something into your microphone. You should hear your voice through the TV speakers. Q. Show me some other ways I can use my microphones? A. Plug-N-Sing microphones are very versatile. Following are some of the other applications of your microphone. Your Plug-N-Sing package (DK-DVD207) includes a 3.5mm to RCA Audio/Video cable (see Figure 3). Please use this cable to connect microphone to portable device. Figure 2 shows connection to ipod as an example. However, a MP3 player or any portable Video Player (Zune etc.) can be used in place of ipod. Please refer to the Owner s manual of the device you plan to connect to the microphone for further details. The portable device being connected to microphone will require 3.5mm output for microphone to work with the device. Because dedicated MP3 Players will only output Audio, you will not be able to see lyrics on the TV screen.

4 More applications of your microphone: Figure 4 Are you new to Karaoke? Here are the basics about Karaoke available on Discs. Generally, there are 3 types of karaoke discs: CDG, CDGM and DVD (this is what we provide) CDG has no Lead vocals on the disc. CDGM will have 2 versions of the same songs. One track with lead vocals and one without lead vocals. DVD discs may or may not have lead vocals. It depends on the manufacturer (All our discs with Vocal On Command (VOC) feature has tracks with vocals that can be turned on or off with DVD player remote control). CDG/CDGM discs will play in most CD and DVD players, but you will not be able to see lyrics on your TV screen. To see lyrics, you must have a CDG Karaoke machine. Some DVD players may be karaoke compatible and will play CDG discs. Most DVD players purchased through normal retail are not karaoke compatible. Check your DVD Player manual before purchasing discs. DVD Karaoke discs will not play in a CDG Karaoke machine. They will however play in a karaoke DVD player or normal household DVD player.

5 Some Helpful Hints: Q. Can I use the Vocal On/Off feature when playing the karaoke DVDs on computer? A. Yes. To use the Vocal On/Off (Vocal on Command) feature, open the track you would like to play with Windows Media Player and follow the direction shown in the screen cast below. 1. Open Windows Media Player 2. Choose the track you would like to play from the DVD 3. Once the track starts playing, you can switch to lead Vocal by clicking DVD>Special Features>Audio>Hindi (see Figure 5). This will turn on the lead Vocal. 4. To turn off the Vocal, select English. Figure 5 Q. What are the different file formats that can be downloaded? Audio MP3 files work on various portable digital media devices. Video MP4 files work on ipod Video, ipod Nano v3, ipod Touch, iphone, Mac, Apple TV Video WMV files work on Zune, Windows PC, X-Box 360, PS3 Purchase the song with the format that will work with your device. Please note: MP3, MP4 and WMV files should work on many other devices such as mobile phones, other portable media devices, game consoles and DVD players. Sometime these file formats are not directly supported. Always check your device manual for compatibility.
