The Battery Council International defines Reserve Capacity as a measure of the time (in minutes) a lead-acid battery can deliver 25 amps at 26.6 degree Celsius and maintain terminal voltage at least 1.75 volts / cell. * CCA (Cold Cranking Amp): this rating measures the cranking power a battery has available to start a car s engine at 17.7 degree Celsius. * CA (Cranking Amp): Similar to CCA. It is a measure of the number of amperes a lead acid battery at 0 degree Celsius can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts / cell (Ca ratings are more commonly used in climates where temperatures rarely drop to 17.7 degree Celsius). 5

6 How can I determine what battery is correct for my machine? Consult your operator s manual. It will provide the capacity (ampere hours/ah) for your machine. Or, ask the parts and service experts at your local John Deere dealership. They are specially trained to know all about John Deere batteries and how they stack up to the competition.
