2 Welcome to the FC Dallas Family We are excited you have chosen to be a part of the FC Dallas family and we look forward to a great soccer year! Vision FC Dallas, in the visionary spirit and legacy of Lamar Hunt, offers a comprehensive environment pursuing excellence in player development and individual welfare. Mission To offer the best player development system in Major League Soccer and to develop well-balanced student athletes in a positive soccer environment. Our priority is to develop the character of young people through the sport of soccer and PRACTICE; the FC Dallas character building program. In addition, we will provide our players with the highest caliber training via the FC Dallas Way curriculum in order to maximize their potential and opportunity. By creating a fun and challenging environment, where players have the chance to learn life lessons, learn the game of soccer, and develop a strong emotional connection to the FC Dallas Way, we will continue to set the standard in youth development in the Americas. PRACTICE; Building Character Through Soccer The FC Dallas PRACTICE program is a character building initiative aimed at helping our youth develop into successful and productive adults. The program equips our coaching staff with tools to model, teach, and reinforce positive character traits to young people through sport. PRACTICE is an acronym for eight very important core values; Patience, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Teamwork, Integrity, Commitment, and Enthusiasm. Each of these character traits will be highlighted during the season and introduced to FC Dallas youth members via lesson plans and videos that will encourage thought and reflection. FC Dallas MLS first team players will speak to FC Dallas Youth members on the importance of being patient or having compassion. FC Dallas staff coaches will speak to teams and model to players the importance and effect of teamwork and commitment. The club will recognize, via our website, players who show extraordinary enthusiasm or respect. Integrity and accountability will be discussed prior to trainings with real life stories. We have a tremendous opportunity to positively affect the trajectory of young people s lives and PRACTICE is the key. The FC Dallas PRACTICE program will include club events, opportunities for involvement in community based projects to help people in need, and recognition for players, coaches, and teams that exemplify positive character throughout the season. Our goal is to shape the thoughts, habits, conduct, and character of FC Dallas Youth players so that they are best equipped for future success. FC Dallas, through the PRACTICE program, will continue to strive to be leaders on the field, off the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Player/Parent Handbook Overview This manual will explain all aspects of FCDY including development philosophy, coaching methodology, uniform cost, fees, policies, and procedures. Please read the entire manual carefully. You will sign an acknowledgement form (Player Cover Sheet) stating that you fully understand and will adhere to its contents (found in your player s folder). FC Dallas Name, Logo, and Sponsors The FC Dallas name and logo belong to FC Dallas and may be used only as expressed herein or with the expressed written approval by the FC Dallas Administrative office. Any reference to or use of the name of Club Sponsors must be with expressed written approval of the Administrative Office. 2

4 FC Dallas Development System FCD player development is comprised of various steps on our pyramid: 1. The FCD Juniors (boys & girls ages 7-10) 2. FCD Select (boys & girls ages 10-19) 3. FCD Premier (16 Elite Development teams, (1) at each age for boys and girls aged U11- U19); 4. FCD Academy and TEPAL (pre-professional boys, ages 12-19); Teams age U18, U16, U15, U14, U13, and U12 5 & 6. FCD Professional Team (MLS), Reserves and First team. Player Development Model: FC Dallas is striving to become the best soccer club in the country by changing the current local youth soccer culture for our players. Our club is player centric and not team-centric or coach-centric. We are able to focus our attention on player development and put less emphasis on team success by connecting our teams together with a common curriculum and encouraging player movement and training opportunities within the club. We also continue to provide better opportunities for soccer development by stressing individual creativity and free play over regimented team structure and team results. By following the FC Dallas Way, our model for successful player development, we will build our player s self-esteem and creative abilities and accelerate the learning process. College placement for our players will remain a priority and we will place a large number of our players into college programs by developing technically sound players, educating them on the college recruitment process, and networking with our existing college contacts. A select few will have increasing opportunity to interact with the FC Dallas first team and our goal is and will continue to be to put our youth players into the MLS. Finally, we will develop a strong, supportive, and growing fan base for our brand by building bridges to the families who play here and reaching out to those who don t. FC Dallas Youth Training Model FCDY Director of Coaching (DOC) and coaches will make a recommendation to any player they feel would benefit from moving between teams, as and when the competition rules permit such movement. Any player rostered to a team is bound to the team to which he/she is first rostered from July 1 until June 30. 1) A player is not allowed to play for more than one team (whether Recreational or Select) at the same time in any league with the exception of developmental players on the USSF DA teams, discovery players on the ECNL teams, and TEPAL players. 2) FCDY coaches have the primary responsibility for player development, instruction, and education for players, and to manage the overall growth of our players within our soccer environment. 3) FCDY will implement the FCD Way Training Curriculum for all players. Specific technical, tactical, physical and mental themes will be taught. Training will be age appropriate to the competitive level, but the ideas and methodology will be consistent throughout. Specific training needs that arise relative to each team s competitive performance are also addressed on an ongoing basis. 4) The FCDY training staff will evaluate all players twice a year using Zoom reports. The evaluation will assess the player s current level of play and progress made over the year. 5) Learning to play and make decisions on the field is vital to the development of soccer players. In soccer, the only way to learn how to make good decisions consistently is to make a lot of decisions! The results of those decisions will include many successes and many failures. 6) FCDY players will learn to make their decisions based on match like training sessions, the level of play, and the direct support of the FCDY training staff. 7) FCDY will provide a safe training environment for our players. Player Selection and Evaluations Player performance will be evaluated by observing the Player under the pressures of annual open tryouts, during seasonal practices, scrimmages, and games. Only the DOC and Team Coaches will confer in matters of Player evaluation and selection. 4

5 Our Club Coaches make decisions on player selection based solely on the Coach s best judgment of the player demonstrating the highest productivity in the four areas of evaluation (mental, physical, technical, and tactical) throughout the game of competitive soccer. Politics, parents position in the club, friendships, personal relationships, and financial contribution to the Club or Team will not enter into these decisions. Your understanding here is important, for just as Players and Parents have freedom to evaluate and select a soccer club without unfair pressure and with a full understanding of what is expected, our Coaches expect the same freedom to evaluate and select soccer players objectively. Written evaluations will be done twice a year by coaches, once at the end of the fall season and once at the end of the spring season. The purpose of the FC Dallas Player Evaluations is to help a player and his/her parents identify his/her strengths and weaknesses to aid them in working to improve those areas Commitment and Responsibilities Once a spot is accepted on a FC Dallas team the commitment is for one seasonal year only. The seasonal year begins in July and continues through the end of June the following year. In the event your team qualifies for regional or national competition, we expect you to fulfill your commitment to your team through the end of that competition regardless of your status with the Club for the following season. We expect our players and parents to be ethical and honest and to honor their commitments, both verbal and written. Therefore, you should make your decisions thoughtfully and carefully. Once your commitment is made, the Club expects your full participation and support for the entire soccer season. Take into account that when you make your commitment, the coaching staff may need to inform other potential players that they did not make the team. Please be sensitive to others and consider your decision carefully. If you have committed to the Club, the Club will also be ethical and honest, honoring its commitment to you. The Club can suspend training at any time if such action is necessary to enforce the collection of fees. The continued participation of a player is contingent upon the player and family abiding by the rules, agreements, and policies, the North Texas State Soccer Association (NTSSA) and United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA). As a player of FC Dallas we expect you to commit to the sport of soccer and your Team as your first activity and priority during the Club season. Player Movement FC Dallas is dedicated to putting individual players into situations that promotes their peak performance. Players need to train and compete in environments that not only push their abilities as players but also allow room for success. A player will never reach their highest levels of play when routinely in a comfort zone. They must work to earn the abilities they need to reach their best. FC Dallas provides many different means to put players in circumstances that not only challenges players but allows for success as well. Player movement within the club is one avenue to put players in positive situations to increase their learning abilities. When players sign with FC Dallas the commitment is to and from the club not to a particular team. The staff may move players to different teams within the club to help players find the right amount of challenge and success. If a player is not sufficiently challenged in their team training and in competitions then the staff may recommend that a player be moved to a team that participates in stronger competition and has more demanding training schedules. If a player is struggling to have success, keeping up with the skill level or training demand, or not getting enough playing time on their current team then the team coach and club staff may place the player on a team that is not as demanding so that they player can have more success. A player needs time in game situations to learn to play at the highest of their abilities. Players must also take pride in their placement on a team. Roster spots are earned and not given away, the same way that playing time is. If players are not reaching the demand of their team, not putting in the effort, not training on their own, not having a positive attitude, creating disruptions in the team chemistry or lacking in fitness, players may be moved to a new team. Player movement is an area where the interest of both the teams and the players are taken into consideration. Player Releases and Transfers The Club has committed to your child for the entire year and we expect the same commitment from you and your child. We understand situations arise in which player releases are requested, however, the Club reserves the right to deny a release or transfer. All Players are required to fulfill their financial obligations to FCDY regardless of any circumstance. Training and Games From the designated arrival time at all practices and games, players are expected to concentrate on soccer. Players must arrive on time with required equipment (shoes, uniform or practice gear, soccer ball, shin guards, water, etc.) and be ready to practice or play. Since practicing and playing their best requires undivided attention, there will be no visiting between Players and Parents, family, friends, or others (who might cause Players to lose focus on soccer) from immediately before the practice or game until they have been dismissed by the Coach. This includes half-time and the conclusion of games, when Players are expected to join the Team and Coach for game discussion. When necessary, Coaches may ask Players to do hard physical workouts immediately following games. When Team responsibilities are over, Players are then free to join family and friends. All players are expected to arrive at the field at the time specified by the coach. At no time shall players sit with their parents, families or friends during a game or warm-up. All players shall wear the practice kit (for training) or game kit (for games) provided to them. Shirts are always to be tucked in, socks pulled up and shin guards worn. Players are also 5

6 expected to bring with them to all trainings and games their soccer ball properly pumped up and their own water bottle. Players are responsible for collecting all team equipment at end of training sessions or games. This includes but is not limited to: balls, pennies, cones and flags. There will be no coaching by Parents. We insist there be no shouting instructions to your child or yelling (complaining) to officials during games. Your vocal support and positive encouragement are welcome after a good play. It is important Players not be distracted at practices (Parents and friends please stay off the designated practice area, including the goal mouths), during games, and the Players are given only one set of instructions by one voice before, during, and after practices and games. For this reason, the Club insists the Coaches be the only voice at all games and practices. No one other than those listed on the official game roster may sit within 10 yards of either side of the half before and during games (please respect the space and privacy necessary for the Coach and Team to carry out their responsibilities). The Clubs first concern is for the long-term growth and development of your child as a person along with their soccer abilities under pressure. There will be times Coaches make decisions and Players are instructed in a manner that Parents may not understand. Club, team, and player development will be given a greater priority than winning. Parents must understand this and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with a healthy team environment. Remember, playing only to win without taking healthy club, team, and player development into account will not result in a solid foundation upon which your child will be prepared for winning. Missing Training/Game Policy FCDY players are required to attend their respective training sessions and games. Excused absences for missed sessions/game will include: Family emergencies, player medical illnesses or injury, or accidents School functions (not sports) College entrance examinations Religious events Inclement Weather Policies Every effort is made to hold practices and games as scheduled; in the event of inclement weather the following procedures will be used: FCDY will update teams about possible cancellations via to the coach and manager for the specific field locations. A decision to close the practice fields is made by 4pm daily; weather at 4pm may not be the same at 5pm, or 8pm, sometimes resulting in a later notification. FCDY will update field status as each operating facility determines availability. North Texas weather is unpredictable and may change rapidly which may result in late notification. Each respective FCDY coach will make the appropriate decision regarding sessions on that given day of training. FCDY will provide a safe training environment based on current and/or forecasted weather conditions. Lightning and proximity will be a contributing factor to not train, along with flooded and saturated fields. If a session is cancelled or postponed due to lightning, all players and parents must go to their cars immediately and wait for FCDY notification. Individual team coaches may try to accommodate sessions by relocating to alternate venues. This communication will go through the Team Manager from the Coach. League game rainouts are determined by the respective fields or leagues that teams participate in. Lightning Predictor System Toyota Soccer Center When a probability of lightning is detected the horn will sound continuously for fifteen seconds and the yellow light will begin flashing (on top of the Dr Pepper Pavilion). As soon as the horn sounds and the yellow light goes on, all practices/games will be immediately stopped and all fields must be cleared. The yellow light will continue to flash as long as a threat exists. When a threat is no longer detected, the horn will sound three short blasts and the yellow light will go off. It is then safe to return to the fields and resume play. Players, officials, and spectators must leave the fields and seek a shelter for the duration of the threat (cars are strongly suggested as the space around the concession stand is very limited). During a game, should the referees feel, using their best judgment, that a potential threat is present, they have the authority to stop the games even before the alarm is triggered. Safety Your child is your responsibility right up to the beginning of practice and immediately on conclusion of the session. Please be prompt on both ends. Establish the Buddy System with your child and another player when traveling and using restrooms at games and training. Become familiar with your team s players and parents, the club s coaches, DOC s, and the office staff. Please report any dangerous field conditions to the FCDY office, including away fields. Parents and chaperones are responsible for their respective players when traveling. Be aware of your surroundings. Do not become complacent. 6

7 Tournament and Travel It is your responsibility to arrange for your child to be at the tournament on the date and times requested by the Coach. If you can not personally get your child there by the time set forth by your Coach, please plan ahead and arrange for your child to ride with somebody else. If you will not be traveling to the tournament it is your responsibility to arrange for your child to stay with somebody else on the Team. The club has certain rules and expectations for the players to follow while traveling to these tournaments. It is your responsibility as a parent to help with these rules and expectations for your child. You as a parent need to set a good example for the players and are also expected to act and present yourself in an appropriate way while at these tournaments. Failure to follow the rules and expectations by either the player or the parent may result in disciplinary actions.the Club will have teams travel in one of two manners: 1) Individual Travel: Individual players travel with their parents and stay in hotel rooms with their parents. Parents are responsible for transporting their child to games and team meetings. For non-team meals, parents are responsible for supplying meals for their child. 2) Team Travel: Chaperones will accompany players from the team s departure from Dallas until the team s return. Chaperones monitor and transport the players to games and meetings. Players will stay in rooms with each other. Players will also eat meals together. When players travel as a group the Coaches and Staff will make all rooming decisions. Up to 4 players will be put in a room with chaperone rooms as close by as possible. Guest Player Policy Guest players are considered part of the FCDY Soccer Club when participating at tournaments with our teams and must adhere to all FCDY rules and policies. All FCDY guest players must pay their respective entry fees for tournaments and travel expenses. Any FCDY player that wishes to guest play must contact their FCDY coach for approval. Travel Policy Players All players will be responsible to pay for their respective travel expenses in a timely manner to the team manager. Failure to pay may lead to non-participation in an event. It is MANDATORY that all players (including guest players) on a team will pay for the tournament entry fee, regardless of participation of player. All players shall adhere to FCDY s Role of the Player rules when attending all tournaments with FCDY teams. FCDY requires all players to stay at the same hotel as their team for away tournaments. Please consult coach if there is an issue. All players shall adhere to any specific instructions set forth for each tournament they may attend by their FCDY coach and/or DOC. Curfews and hotel policy will apply to tournament and league travel. Players may be sent home if travel rules are not adhered to. Players are encouraged to remember the Buddy System when traveling to tournaments and away games for safety reasons. All tournament and coaches travel fees will be collected by the team on an individual basis as the team nears the tournament. All players on the team are responsible to cover their share of the tournament and coaches travel fees for all events. Players should have these fees to the team manager or treasurer within 14 days of being informed of the fees. Failure to pay these fees will result in disciplinary action by the club. Coach s Travel Fees All tournament and head coach s travel fees are to be covered by the individual team(s). The cost shall be divided amongst all of the head coach s participating teams. All players on the team are responsible to pay their share of the tournament and coach s travel fees. This money needs to be given to the coach prior to the trip by the team manager. Head coach shall receive travel fees for the following amounts and items: 1) Head coach s meal per diem - $30 per day (full day paid no matter what time of day traveling) 2) Head coach s mileage- $0.56 per mile 3) Head coach s hotel room- actual cost of room and tax 4) The team and coach are to use the most cost efficient method when traveling. Coach's driving mileage/gas will not be calculated unless the tournament is outside of 100 miles. Mileage is not considered when the coach flies to and/or from the tournament. Can only request reimbursement for gas or mileage (cannot request both). All tournament and coach s travel fees are due within 14 days of being informed by team manager or team treasurer. Failure to pay these fees may result in disciplinary action by the club. Disciplinary Rules during Team Tournaments/Trips 1) Substance use and/or possession thereof (drugs, alcohol and / or tobacco by minors) are cause for the immediate dismissal from a team trip. 2) Having a member of the opposite sex in your hotel room is cause for the immediate dismissal from a team trip. 3) Persistent irresponsible and disrespectful behavior is cause for dismissal from a team trip. 4) Destruction of property or violation of State and Federal laws is cause for dismissal from a team trip 5) Failure to comply with any and all team rules (curfew, attendance, dress code, schedules, etc.) may be cause for disciplinary action. Persistent failure will be cause for dismissal from a team trip and could affect a player s future participation on the Team. 7

8 NOTE: If dismissal from a team trip occurs, the player may be sent home immediately at the parent s cost by whatever means is most convenient for the coaching staff. This will most likely be the parent/guardian of the child being dismissed having to come and pick them up. No reimbursement of trip fees will be made to the dismissed player or the player s family. Disciplinary Actions If disciplinary actions are necessary, the following steps may be taken: 1) The Team Coach and/or a Director will discuss the problem directly and privately with the player, with the assumption the problem will be corrected immediately. 2) If the problem persists, the Team Coach and/or a Director will communicate with the player s parents to discuss the problem and lack of response on the part of the player. Parents will have the opportunity to be involved with correction of the problem at this time. 3) If the problem still continues, the Team Coach and/or DOC may temporarily suspend the player from training. If the situation warrants, the DOC may recommend that the player be removed from the Club. 4) The parents of any player recommended for removal from the Club may request to meet with the DOC. Our desire is to work with our players in a positive and constructive way. We will make every effort to work with you to help resolve any concerns you may have. After we have exhausted all efforts to resolve the concern, we will be left with little choice other than to pursue disciplinary action as outlined above. The Club and the Team Members of FCDY agree to put the Club ahead of the Team. When decisions are made regarding conflicts between the Club and a particular Team, the Club will come first. The Team and the Individual Players of FCDY agree to put their Team ahead of the individual player and must be positive in fulfilling the role they are asked to perform for the Team. It is important to understand that FCDY player membership does not guarantee equal play or specific position. The Players playing time and position on the field will be determined by the coaching staff and decisions will be made in accordance with the best interest of the entire Team and Club in mind. Players or Parents with genuine concerns may express these concerns to the Coach with the intent of learning what a player might do differently to achieve more playing time. Parents must respect the 24 hour rule in regards to any coaching conflicts. FCDY coaches are considered part of the Club support structure, and they may change teams to meet the overall Club needs. All FCDY coaches are there for the support of all FCDY teams. Team play is a major objective, and individual players are trained within the team framework. Role of the Coach The FCDY coach will oversee all aspects of his/her respective team(s) during the seasonal year. The coach will make all playing time decisions. The coach is responsible for the training session and game lineups. The coach is responsible to meet the goals of the FCDY Mission and Vision. The coach is responsible for communicating with the manager and the team any issues that may arise with the respective team. The coach is responsible for calling and presiding over team meetings. The coach is to be on time for all meetings, training sessions and games. The coach is to provide player evaluations twice a year using Zoom reports. The Coaches for FC Dallas are instructed to conduct themselves first as teachers and second as soccer Coaches. You should expect FC Dallas Coaches to conduct themselves as positive role models and display appropriate behavior. Our Coaches recognize they are dealing in an important way with young people and cannot overlook the impact they have on Players lives. Coaches are responsible for conduct of the Team on and off the field when the Team is together and part of a Club event. Players and Parents should expect honesty, communication, consistency, and reliability from the Coach. FC Dallas Coaches have been responsible for helping numerous state, regional, and national caliber players, many of whom receive college scholarships and play on top college teams. The commitment the Club makes under no circumstances guarantees players will be offered a college scholarship, or be considered for a state or national team. The Club and the Coaches do guarantee to give players the tools and skills to enable them to become as good as their ability; desire, commitment, and effort take them. The DOC and Team Coaches are responsible to create an environment where you can play quality competitive soccer. The soccer we play will be taken very seriously. If the Coaches see you are not willing to put your soccer above other recreational activities during the season, it may affect your playing time and/or your status with the Club. Do not expect the Coaches to praise everything you do well. Players and Parents are expected to take constructive criticism along with praise for a job well done, and be able to deal with both. Team Manager s Role The team manager is the main contact for all relevant team information. The manager s main source of communication is via . The manager is responsible for team coordination of activities through direction of the team coach. Any soccer related issues including playing time and/or tournament scheduling should be directed to the team coach. Any financial related issues including club payments should be directed to the FCDY office. Team managers are not debt collectors. Note that failure to pay tournament fees, travel expenses, and misc. team expenses (i.e. tournament expenses, coach travel reimbursement, referee costs/field fee for scrimmages, etc.), in a timely manner to team managers, could result in disciplinary action to the respective player. Please be prompt with manager s requests. 8

9 Role of the Player Code of Conduct Players are responsible for adhering to the following Code of Conduct. Failure to follow the Player Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action and/or termination from the Club. As a player you are responsible for your own performance, conduct, and actions. Honesty, communication, and reliability will be expected at all times. We insist our players are polite, well behaved, and respectful. The Club asks that you care about yourself and the sport of soccer. This requires that you maintain a healthy life style and a healthy team attitude. Any use of drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes/tobacco is not acceptable. The Club will insist you maintain a positive team attitude and a personal sense of sportsmanship and fair play. At all Club or Team functions you will be expected to conduct yourself in a respectable manner and represent the Club and your Team in a positive way. Players shall always promote the widespread interests of soccer with courtesy, honesty and respect. Players shall refrain from all manner of personal abuse and harassment of others and shall actively oppose any such abuse at all levels of soccer. Players are required to notify team head coach of any such cases. No player shall counsel, solicit, or encourage any player to transfer from or drop a club or league team affiliation for any purpose. Players shall always respect teammates, coaches, officials and parents. All players will be required to attend all practice sessions, to arrive on time and be properly attired. All players will be required to arrive 45 minutes prior to game kickoff for team warm-up. All players will be required to notify their respective coach if they will miss or be late for a training session or game. All players will be required to be prepared for all training sessions and games. Bring an inflated soccer ball of the correct size and a water bottle. Maintain and uphold the standards set forth by FCDY Soccer Club on and off the field of play. Respect the coach, DOCs, Team Manager, all other FCDY players and staff, the game day opposing team, and referees. Do not use profanity. Do not act in a way that will negatively impact you, your family or FCDY. Parents Role in Development Code of Conduct The role of the parent is very simple. Be a parent, not a coach or referee. Parental support and involvement in the Club are essential. If your child is selected and chooses to commit themself to FC Dallas, your commitment is also necessary. If players are to fulfill their quality commitment to the Club and their Team, Parents must see to it Players attend all possible Club and Team training sessions and events. You must inform your coach in advance if you are unable to attend practices or games. During practices nobody other than players will be allowed on the playing field. 1) Do not use alcohol or tobacco during training sessions or games. 2) Support your son/daughter in a positive manner. 3) Do not coach from the sideline during games or trainings. 4) Help make sure your child is on time. 5) Once your son/daughter has joined the team s training session, do not interfere until the coach dismisses the team from the training or game. After training or a game is not the time to discuss issues or concerns. 24 hour rule is in effect. If a parent is found in violation, suspensions may be incurred by FCDY. The soccer field is the Coach s classroom: please allow the coach to convey his/her message, and allow the players to play freely. Fundraising Policies All FCDY teams are encouraged to raise funds for their particular team to cover the cost of travel, dues, tournaments, and whatever else their respective team may like to utilize the funds for in order to lower team expenses. Any reproduction of the FCDY logo or design without express written consent from FCDY is prohibited. Teams are encouraged to explore fundraising possibilities that will help ease the cost of tournament travel and play. At the same time, the club has an interest in assuring the fundraising efforts do not conflict with the club activities or policies, or with the activities of other FC Dallas teams. As a result, all fund raising activities should be cleared in advance with the club. Funds earned will be applied to dues first and then once paid in full; funds may be transferred to the team s bank account to be used for soccer related expenses. 10 Volunteering In 2014, FC Dallas Youth became the Host Club of the prestigious international youth soccer tournament, Dallas Cup. As Host Club, FC Dallas Youth will provide the tournament with the core of its volunteer base. In all, more than 1,000 volunteers are needed each year during tournament week to ensure its smooth operation. All teams are expected to provide volunteers for the tournament. Each team will have a minimum number of shifts to be fulfilled which will be determined each year prior to the tournament. In addition, FC Dallas will host Generation Adidas Cup, with teams expected to provide volunteers to support the success of the tournament. Credentials All FCDY Select Players, Coaches, and Managers will receive 1 FCDY Credential. Players will not receive their credential if their account is delinquent. We will provide 1 coaching credential per team to the head coach and 1 manager credential to the lead manager. Credentials are valid from September until August of the next year. Credentials will be issued once in the Fall season and once in the Spring season (for those new to the Club). If you lose your credential we can replace it at a cost of $20 per credential. Credentials are valid for FC Dallas Regular Season home games only. The credential is not valid for playoffs, concerts, third party events. The credential does not grant entry into the stadium. You must arrange your ticket(s) in advance of the game. Insurance Coverage and Medical Injuries Excess accident coverage is automatically provided to registered members of USYSA as part of the registration fee. This policy provides coverage for registered players, coaches, and other officials, during sanctioned events including regularly scheduled practices and games. This coverage is excess above the players own family health insurance. For players or members that do not have any health insurance, this will be considered the primary insurance. USYSA Players or members are covered: While participating in sanctioned USYSA play, practice or other scheduled group activity of soccer under the supervision of an authorized USYSA/FCDY official. As an organized group at the direction of an authorized official directly and uninterruptedly to and/or from such play or practice of USYSA/FCDY. Dispute Resolution Problems or conflicts may arise during a season. The most important thing to remember in handling these problems or conflicts is proper communication. When a problem arises you first need to discuss the issue with your team Head Coach. If after consulting with the coach, you still feel that additional attention to the problem is needed, then you should refer the matter to your program contact. If you still feel the issue has not been resolved you can fill out and submit a Conflict Resolution Form which your team manager has a copy of in their manager binder. Your concern will be reviewed by the Discipline Committee and their findings and suggestions will be forwarded to the Board of Directors who will make the final decision on how to resolve the issue. We ask that you do not approach the coach on any problems or conflicts before, during, or immediately after the game. 11 Uniforms Whenever a FC Dallas player is in uniform, they are representing the Club and they should wear the uniform properly and with pride. Please read and abide by the following guidelines. 1) Players must wear the proper training attire at all team and club training sessions. 2) Players should bring all jerseys, socks and shorts to every game. Players are responsible to keep these items clean and in good shape at all times. 3) All uniform items worn for training and games must be the current seasonal year uniform items. 4) Jerseys will always be tucked into shorts whenever you are wearing the uniform (not just during the game). 5) Uniform socks will be pulled up whenever you have them on. Shin guards must always be covered by socks. 6) Have your equipment bag with you at all practices and games. Put bags carefully in a row on the sidelines at all games. 7) Bring your soccer ball to every game and every practice. Make sure it is always properly inflated. Ball should not be colored or marked, with the exception of player name, number and team in black permanent marker. 8) Leave your rings, watches, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, other jewelry and hairpins (except for rubber bands or other elastic bands) at home or in your equipment bags. FCDY Warm-ups may be worn during pre-game and at training. Players are to have proper shoes and shin guards, and turfs/cleats for training and games. There will be no modification to the FCDY adidas practice uniform, game uniforms, warm-ups or backpacks. It is imperative that parents label ALL items with the player s name, in the event items are misplaced and to facilitate their return. In an effort to be proactive some team managers contact the visiting team manager ahead of time to ask what color they will wear so they can prepare their team in advance. While this is okay ultimately the Home team usually must accommodate changes regardless of prior arrangements. In the case of a color conflict the HOME team must change. For this reason it is imperative all players should have both sets of the FCDY uniform at every game in order to avoid having to sit out because of a color conflict. Failure to resolve a color conflict could result in a forfeiture being awarded against the Home team. Uniform numbers are coordinated through the Team Coach and manager. Returning team members get first choice to retain their number or to choose another number; new players then choose their number. Each team s jersey numbers must be between 0 and 25. Players changing teams are responsible for purchasing the necessary items, from if a number conflict exists with the team they are joining. Players may wear black, red, or white long sleeve tops under their jersey (red or white is preferred). The entire team must wear the same color undershirt to provide uniformity. Players may wear black, red, or white slider shorts under their shorts but may not wear leggings or pants underneath. Gloves and ear bands are acceptable. 11

12 Select Fee Payments and Policies Fees include but are not limited to: Home Association, 1 Bye or Qualifying Tournament, 1 Camp (Player Development Camp or College Camp - dependent on age), 1 team league, practice field rental, maintenance, web site, administration, referee fees, college preparation program, keeper training, and all coaching fees for the season. Fees: $ $2665. All players are required to provide a down payment upon signing in July. There are different payment plans available. Parents may pay with a Credit Card during the registration process, or opt to pay manually with a check/money order, payable to FC Dallas Youth. All manual payments must be sent directly to the Club. Please see your financial agreement/contract for fee payment structure. Monthly statements will not be mailed. It is the parent s responsibility to adhere to their specified financial agreement. If you sign up for Autopay by not opting out during registration it will automatically deduct payments from your credit card on the 15 th of every month per your payment plan. Manual pay will require action by you at every payment due date. You will need to either physically send in a check or money order into the club or sign in to your online account at to make a one-time credit card payment. Monthly dues payments are considered late if not received in the office by the 15th of each month and a $25 late fee will be added to your account. Returned checks will be charged a $35 fee and a money order will be required as soon notified. The money order must include the $35 charge plus the original check amount. Overpayments on the total amount owed will be reimbursed by the club as quickly as possible. Failure to pay player fees within thirty (30) days of the fee payment due date will invoke the no pay, no play club policy. Players will be ineligible to participate in FCDY team practices, games, and tournaments until payment is received. No fee payment or parts thereof will be refunded or forgiven because of player injuries, absences, withdrawal, etc. Every FC Dallas Player must have a parent or legal guardian sign a Financial Agreement and Promissory Note. The Promissory Note is for all payment plans not paid in full at signing. The financial agreement/promissory note states that you are fully aware of the costs associated with FC Dallas. Any legal fees associated with the collection of delinquent fees will be charged to you. All Players are required to fulfill their financial obligations to FCDY regardless of any circumstance. 12
