2 The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires all hotels and motels to make their facilities MANUFACTURING ACCESSIBLITY, INNOVATION & DESIGN FOR ALL equally accessible to those with physical disabilities and hearing impaired guests. Hotels and motels are required to provide rooms equipped with visual notification devices, telephone amplifiers and TDD s (Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf). Part of the cost of meeting these requirements may be tax deductible, or you may qualify to receive a tax credit for the installation. Check with your local hotel & motel association for more information. 3 Guest Room TDD The PortaView 20 Junior, guest room TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) provides your hearing impaired guests with convenient direct communication using the handset of the guest room telephone. The handset of the corded guest room phone is placed into the black cups on top of the TDD. The TDD is then able to transmit and receive the electronic TDD tones over the telephone. The TDD does not convert text to voice or voice to text and can only be used to communicate with another TDD unit. The Front Desk must have a TDD in order to directly communicate with a guest using a TDD. Includes a power adapter and a heavy-duty rechargeable battery.

4 Front Desk TDD with Printer The PortaPrinter 2000 Standard, front desk TDD provides the front desk staff with easy and direct communication with a hearing impaired guest. To use, the front desk TDD places the handset of the front desk telephone into the black cups on the TDD, the TDD transmit and receive electronic TDD tones over the telephone between the front desk and the guest. The built-in printer provides a complete print out of any conversation displaying capital letters for the outgoing messages and lowercase for the incoming messages. The printer also enables the front desk staff to ensure they have correct names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card information and room service orders. The TDD Communicates directly with another TDD or your guest can call your local Relay Service in your area. Includes a power adapter, heavy-duty rechargeable battery and thermal printer paper.
