2 Uniting AgeWell Uniting AgeWell promotes a life-enhancing approach to growing older and supportive care when needed. Starting point Contact any Uniting AgeWell service and they will assist you to understand your options so you can choose the right service for your requirements. Eligibility for services The Government s Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) 1 will let you know what services you are eligible for after a formal assessment process. Your local doctor or any Uniting AgeWell site can assist you to gain an assessment. You will not need an ACAT assessment to move into an independent retirement unit. Choices at Home You can stay in your own home as you grow older with the assistance of community care packages. These packages provide different levels of care, from home duties and shopping, to assistance with nursing and dementia care. Choices of Activities You may want support of a social or therapeutic kind. Many activities are available for clients and carers. Choices for Housing and Residential Services You have residential options available for independent retirement living or for residential care depending on health. Some rental housing may be available for those who cannot afford to own their retirement home.
