6 ABOUT TODAY S WORSHIP The sanctuary flowers are given in honor of Ann and Ed Gaskins 50th Wedding Anniversary by Barbara Dunn, Jody and Vann Langston, George Wilson and Sally and Ed Moore. The rose on the pulpit is placed in honor of the birth of Jonathan and Mary Wallace Shaver s son, born on August 13, His proud grandparents are Bill and Kathy Teague. Referred to by many as the singer s singer and called the most awesome voice in gospel music by Billboard Magazine, has received a Grammy and five Dove awards for her work as a songwriter, vocal artist, and musician. Her career has spanned over four decades with 22 recordings to her credit. Her talents bridge the arts of music, theater, and cabaret. Her eclectic style allows her artistry full expression. Cynthia currently resides in Houston, TX and is maried to lyricist, poet and playwright, Ragan Courtney. Ragan Courtney is a gifted communicator, playwright, poet, deeply spiritual thinker, and widely known as the lyricist of the famed Christian musical Celebrate Life! Ragan taught at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky; worked for the Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tennessee as a Drama and Worship Consultant. Ragan lives in Houston with his wife where he continues writing, directing and consulting for the theatrical productions of Jeannette Clift George and The Imperial Performing Arts. GRACE OFFERING--AUGUST 2015 This special missions offering provides financial support for a variety of important ministries in our community and beyond. The 24 Student Choir will meet for the first time today at 5:00 PM in the choir room. Come be part of an exciting change! AUGUST MOVERS AND SHAKERS MEETING Movers and Shakers will meet on August 25 from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for the first meeting of the fall. (Please note the special time!) We will have hors d oeuvre and fellowship at 11:30, followed by lunch at noon. Our first meeting will be a time of fun and games, and time to share memories with one another. The cost is $6 per person. NEWCOMERS LUNCH If you have been visiting HBBC, or if you ve recently joined the church, we invite you to come dine with the staff and other leaders on August 30 following worship in the Danielson classroom. FAMILY NIGHT KICK-OFF Believe it or not, we re gearing up for the start of Family Nights! We are excited to announce that the first Family Night is Wednesday, September 2, and we re starting things off with a laugh. Magician and comedian Matt Fore will join us in a special All Ages Gathering for a night of fun. Please plan to attend! Dinner will begin at 5:00 pm ($6 for adults, $4 for kids), and the Gathering will begin at 6:15 pm. We can t wait to see you there!
