4 SPECIAL ISSUE ON BEHAVIORAL PHARMACOLOGY The Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior has been an important part of the development of the field of behavioral pharmacology that began over 35 years ago. It was not a coincidence that the emergence of the discipline of behavioral pharmacology occurred closely in time with the founding of JEAB. Many of the initial contributors to research in behavioral pharmacology were also those who laid the foundations for the experimental analysis of behavior. Principles and techniques that have guided behavioral research throughout the intervening years have continued to exert a pervasive influence in behavioral pharmacology. This journal has published special issues that focus on a particular topic (e.g., Biological Factors, November 1988; Cognition, November 1989). We are now planning to publish a special issue on behavioral pharmacology. The special issue on behavioral pharmacology will concentrate on novel contributions that focus on the study of the behavioral effects of drugs. Articles submitted for this issue should deal primarily with a behavioral analysis of drug action with an emphasis on the behavior of individual organisms. Articles of a general theoretical or historical orientation are also invited. Submissions for the special issue will be reviewed in the usual manner, but will be handled by the Special Editors for this issue, James E. Barrett and David J. Sanger. The deadline for submission of manuscripts for inclusion in this issue is October 15, The special issue will appear in September Articles for consideration in this special issue should be prepared according to the format requirements published in the January issue of the current year and should be submitted in triplicate to the Editor, Edmund Fantino, Department of Psychology C-009, of California-San Diego, La Jolla, California James E. Barrett David J. Sanger Edmund Fantino Editors for Special Issue 394
