4 Price List Guide Scope The Volume Licensing Price List Guide is a companion resource that corresponds to the Price List. The intent of the Price List Guide is to proactively communicate strategic information connected to activity on the Price List at a global level. Discontinued Products/Product Migrations FAST Search Server With the launch of SharePoint Server 2013, FAST Search Server and Search Server functionalities have been consolidated into SharePoint Server. FAST Search Server and Search Server are no longer available as stand-alone products and SA migration is to SharePoint Server. Additionally, Internet Sites Scenario s (SharePoint FIS-S; SharePoint FIS-E) are now licensed through SharePoint Server. SA migration for these producuts is also to SharePoint Server. As part of this effort, the next release of Forefront Online Protection for Exchange, which has long been part of the Office 365 solution, will be named Exchange Online Protection. 2. In response to customer demand, we are adding basic antimalware protection to Exchange Server This protection can be easily turned off, replaced, or paired with other services (like Exchange Online Protection) to provide a layered defense. 3. We are discontinuing any further releases of the following Forefront-branded solutions: o o Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint (FPSP) 5

6 o o o o Forefront Security for Office Communications Server (FSOCS) Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 (TMG) Forefront Threat Management Gateway Web Protection Services (TMG WPS) Forefront Protection Suite (FPS) For collaboration protection, SharePoint and Lync Servers will continue to offer the built-in security capabilities that many customers use to protect shared documents. For remote access, DirectAccess and Routing and Remote Access Server (RRAS) VPN in Windows Server 2012 provide secure remote access for Windows and cross-platform clients, as well as cross-premise access through site to site VPN. Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010 also continues to provide secure application publishing and cross-platform SSL VPN remote access for a range of mobile devices. This change will result in the discontinuation of the previously offered SKUs and the creation of new SKUs in their place. For new countries and 7

The new Desktop Education w/mdop SKU combines Windows upgrade, Microsoft Office, MDOP and CAL Suite licenses into one convenient SKU. In addition to this new offering, the existing Windows Upgrade SA + MDOP for organization wide purchases and Desktop Optimization Pack for SA for purchases as additional product continues to be available on the EES price list. 8

With the launch of this new sku, any Academic institution with one of the following agreement types can purchase these exams at an Academic rate: EES, OVS-ES, Select Plus for Academic. Exams are purchased as a site license and come in a quantity of 250. The Academic institution purchasing this sku will be required to become a Certiport testing center. However, there is no additional charge to become a testing center and they will be contacted directly by Certiport to setup their location. The Microsoft Certification Program began in 1992 and has certified millions of individuals around the world on Microsoft Technology. Microsoft Certification endorses the ability of professionals to deploy, design, optimize and operate technologies for critical IT roles utilizing Microsoft technology. When academic institutions purchase exam vouchers through volume licensing (valid for one year), they can feel confident that they are providing their staff and students with the opportunity to earn an industry-recognized, relevant certification. These new product licenses now offer more business value in each product with new and innovative Office Web Apps, better product integration, and increased functionality with each product license. This change will occur in January for ISV SharePoint Server +38% Consolidate FAST Search Server for SharePoint Visio Standard +20% Visio Professional +5% User CAL Differentiated Pricing Microsoft typically offers both a per user and a per device option when purchasing Client Access Licenses (CALs). Traditionally the price has been the same regardless of which option customers chose. Effective December 1, 2012, Microsoft will differentiate between these CALs. As part of this approach we will be raising the price of the user CAL by 15%. The device CAL price will remain the same (no price increase). We are making this change in response to the 12

13 increasing value of user based licensing over the single device licensing model. There are three primary drivers of increased value for customers in the user CAL. 1. Increased number of devices: It is clear there has been an explosion of consumer devices which are proliferating rapidly into business. We believe, on average, there are 3 or more devices per information worker employee in companies today. With the introduction of Window 8 there will be another boost in business ready, consumer oriented hardware that will continue to fuel this device proliferation trend. The more devices people use, the greater the value of user-based licensing. 2. Increased value in support across devices: Microsoft s next generation of server products deliver more value for user based licensing. As an example the new version of Office, and the underlying servers that support its functionality, will now work with many more devices. 3. Manageability and Compliance: User CAL licensing also simplifies manageability and compliance. In the past, IT departments purchased and asset tagged all hardware used by employees. It was easy for IT to count and license the number of devices being used by their company. With the consumerization of IT this trend is changing. IT no longer has a good sense for how many devices are being used to access company resources and find it easier to count and track the number of employees they have. In fact many of our customers report that ease of counting users makes user-based licensing much more valuable than device-based licensing. The main highlights of the differentiated CAL pricing include the following: Customers can continue to choose to license CALs per User or per Device. Customers may prefer device CALs if they have fewer devices than users and/or prefer to count devices. Customers may prefer user CALs if they have fewer users than devices and/or prefer to count users. User CALs will have a +15% price premium. Device CAL pricing will see no price change. All Volume Licensing programs 1 will be affected. Microsoft will apply the User CAL price premium across all User Based CAL products 2 and programs in Volume Licensing and OEM programs. Differentiated CAL pricing will take effect with the release of the December price list. Current price lists include a 5% discount for additional products on both the L/SA and SA skus for CIS, however the discount was only intended to be applied to the L/SA offering. This change will improve license management and provide customers with additional value. As a result of this licensing model change, prices on some offerings will be decreasing. 14

Point counts flow to downstream systems as soon as they are either set, or changed. While this precludes the ability to provide a 30-day preview on point count changes, it does mean that point count errors can be corrected quickly without relying on the following month s price list publication schedule. As point count changes will not be visible on the preview price list, please refer to the Product List for updated point counts in the interim. License point values (referred to as the Unit Count on price lists) are assigned based on a product s global base price using a sliding scale and are only applicable in the Open and Select program. Each product pool (Applications, Systems, Server) has a unique scale for assigning point counts. Miscellaneous Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 VLSC Availability Due to a delay in certification Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 availability on the Volume Licensing Service Center is moving from December 1, 2012 to December 7, An Evaluation version will be available from the Microsoft Download Center in November.
