2 We encourage you to download our mobile guide to enhance your experience of the National Community Education Conference You ll be able to plan your day with a personalized schedule and take notes to make and impact now. Roads? Where we re going, we don t need roads. This statement was made by Doc Brown at the end of the film Back to the Future as he, Marty, and Jennifer set off to the future. More precisely, they set off for October 21, In Back to the Future II, 1985 Hollywood created a world in Hill Valley that boldly imagined what life would be like 30 years in the future. Today marks just a few more weeks to realize the existence of flying cars, self-lacing shoes, a fax machine in every room of your house and let s be serious... the presence of the much anticipated hover board in our every day lives. Unfortunately, without the aid of the Flux Capacitor, driving 88 mph will more likely get you a speeding ticket than the required 1.21 gigawatts of power required for time travel. If you haven t already, you will notice reference to the Back to the Future films throughout this year s conference and we hope that you will have fun considering what our current reality would be if the predictions from the films had (as we all hoped) come true. We may not know exactly what the future will look like, but we hope that the learning you experience throughout this conference will prepare you for the changes and challenges that are inevitably ahead. Just like in the films, we live in a world that likes to idealize the past and fantasize about the future. This dichotomy can cause us to lose track of the realities we face in our lives and careers today. Over the next few days, we encourage you to learn from the past and consider the future so you can Think Globally, and Lead Locally... because The Time for Impact is Now!
