3 Web filters not only prevent your children from accessing inappropriate content, they also keep your family from accidentally visiting websites that can compromise your privacy and infect your devices with malicious software. Examples of these websites include: Chatrooms and forums where Internet predators lurk so they can befriend your children and trick them into revealing personal information Illegal content websites that feature illegal or inappropriate content for download. Some examples are file-sharing websites that cybercriminals use as nesting grounds for malicious software. These not only put you at risk but also in trouble with the law. Advertisement websites that aggressively feature or display ads that often track your behavior and information. Most browsers provide this tool. Examples of these include: Peer-to-peer/file-sharing programs that let you easily share files, including malware, across the Internet. These programs are often used to share licensed media and software illegally. Video games, especially those that feature chat functions or multiplayer options, that also pose privacy risks since players can ask for personal details during gameplay.
