3 Content and Learning Goals The global engineer is working in a global acting company as part of a multicultural team using modern information and communication technology and special tools to support group work. Part1: Aspects of working in global teams Part 2: Tools and tool architectures Part 3: Actual topics in global engineering Slide 5of 17 Lab: Learning Goal The lab enables the students to contribute to a team in order to analyze tools and their special support functions and to plan their employment under special aspects. Project Lab with introduction to special environments to support spatially distributed teams (Software-Tools, Video-Conference Studio, Media Seminarroom) Experience: Electronic meeting rooms/ Video conferencing studio Desktop Conferencing BSCW Focus: NOT on overall functionality and general usage BUT on special features for team support/ CSCW Students shall be able to choose the right groupware for a given team Slide 6of 17 3

5 Website for online registration Registration is open till Oct 26th Choose the correct degree course during registration! Lab schedule and group assignement will be published before November. Lab exercises do not start before November. Check Website for anouncements Slide 9of 17 Lab organization Groups consist of 3 (4) students Group assignment will be done by the institute!!! Special wishes (time, group mate,...) shall be send via (before Oct 26th) to stefan.werner@uni-due.de After the official announcement of group assignment and lab schedule their is no chance for any changes!! Lab attendance is mandatory as well as giving a final presentation and writing a paper Slide 10 of 17 5

6 Lab Lab attendance is mandatory. Only successful Lab attendance guarantees all credits of CSCW & Software Engineering. Successful lab attendance will be documented on your Experiment manuals For students who miss more than one experiment the attendance can not tbe documented. d Those students have to take the whole lab again one year later!!! - to receive the full credits. 7 Material Lectures: slides Lab: Manuals all material will be available online at latest one week before lecture/lab.
