State of the Clubs The BlueClaws open a six- game road trip tonight, featuring three games in Hickory and three in Delmarva They enter off a 4-3 homestand, having swept three games against Delmarva before losing three of four to W est Virginia Hickory returns home after a 2-5 road trip w hich saw them lose two of three in Augusta and three of four in Rome. The Season Series Lakewood and Hickory w ill play just seven times this year, three games this w eek in Hickory and four games in July (12-15) at FirstEnergy Park. All- Stars Two BlueClaws have been named to the rosters for the 54th South Atlantic League All- Star Game, coming to FirstEnergy Park on June 18th C Chace Numata, who has two home runs and leads the league by throwing out 23 opposing base stealers, w ill be the starting catcher for the Northern Division squad RHP Steven Inch, who leads the BlueClaws w ith seven saves, w ill be one of the relief pitchers for the Northern Division Numata and Inch are the 41st and 42nd BlueClaws to be named to the m id- season SAL All- Star team. Carmona Heating Up Willie Carmona is since M ay 21st w ith five m ulti- hit games and hit his lone home run of the season on M ay 17th in Lakewood against Greensboro He started the season and is (.308) since Carmona has hit safely in 14 of his last 18 games He w as an 11th round pick last year from Stony Brook after helping the Seawolves reach the College W orld Series. Mighty Quinn Romqn Quinn is (.337) since M ay 9th w ith 10 m ulti- hit games over that stretch (the BlueClaws are 14-12) Quinn hit his 5th home run of the season (first batting right- handed) on Thursday against W est Virginia He s added 10 stolen bases in that period and now has 24 on the season He has stolen 2nd and 3rd in the same inning on three occasions this year He led the NYPL with 30 stolen bases last year. Walk This W ay Since coming off the disabled list on M ay 9th, Art Charles has drawn 19 w alks, m ore than anyone else in the league Roman Quinn has drawn 15 w alks over the same period, after drawing just seven w alks in his previous 28 games. Welcome to Lakewood RHP Daniel Carela joined the BlueClaws on Saturday and threw two scoreless innings in his Lakewood debut on Sunday The New York City native, w ho w ent to George W ashington High School, signed w ith the M ets as a non- drafted free agent in 2008, w here he spent two seasons, and joined the Dodgers system in 2011, reaching Great Lakes in the M idwest League This year, he m ade two appearances and gave up six runs on five hits in one inning He signed w ith the Phillies in M ay and reported to extended spring training. Home Run Index The BlueClaws have hit 21 home runs on the season, but just seven at FirstEnergy Park, one of w hich w as an inside- the- park home run by Roman Quinn on April 9th Brian Pointer hit his first Lakewood home run on Friday night (3 rd overall) and Justin Dalles added a home run on Sunday Art Charles leads the team with six home runs, all six of w hich have come on the road Quinn is the only BlueClaw w ith m ultiple home runs in Lakewood so far this season (has three including one on Thursday). Come Back W ins The BlueClaws did not get their first come- from- behind w in until M ay 12th at Greensboro but now have seven on the season (May 15th vs Delmarva from 2-0 down, M ay 16th vs Greensboro from 5-0 down, M ay 17th from 1-0 down, M ay 20th from 1-0 down, and M ay 29th from 3-0 down and June 2nd from 3-0 down). Extra Pleasure? Not Exactly The BlueClaws dropped to 0-3 in extra innings this year w ith M ay 24th loss to W est Virginia, and they are now 3-14 in extra innings over the last two years (having lost seven straight extra inning games) and are 9-21 in extra innings dating to the start of the 2011 season.
