2 As the trend for declining voice revenues and market share continues, regional communications providers need effective new ways to increase subscriber ARPU and fend off intensified competition from cable, satellite and Internet video providers. Alcatel-Lucent addresses the unique challenges of operators in low-density markets by offering a robust, end-to-end, pre-packaged and fully tested triple play solution. It leverages our unsurpassed broadband access and IP portfolios as well as our unrivaled IPTV experience to help you quickly and economically deploy advanced IP triple play services, minimize your time to revenue, and establish a strong future foundation for creating more innovative revenue-generating services, whenever the time is right. Alcatel-Lucent professional services are also available to assist you at any step in the planning, design and deployment process. 2 Triple Play Express for Regional Operators
3 By 2012, annual revenue from IPTV services is expected to reach 8 billion U.S. dollars in the North America region alone along with 976 million dollars for video on demand offerings. SOURCE: GARTNER Meeting the challenges of intensified competition Faced with eroding voice revenues and market share, regional communications providers need lucrative new services that can drive incremental revenues and overcome a growing range of competitive threats from cable MSOs, satellite operators and innovative new Internet video players. In the battle for customers, cable MSOs are aggressively promoting triple play packages. Satellite providers are delivering more high-definition TV choices, recording capabilities and exclusive programming. And Internet video providers, such as Joost and Hulu, are gaining wide-ranging popularity adding to your network traffic, while rarely adding to your income. IPTV services offer a powerful way to address these challenges. IPTV has the potential to transform the end user s viewing experience by combining programming choice and flexibility with personal communications, social networking, entertainment and a new breed of interactive services. They can provide an immediate source of new revenue, deliver interactive capabilities that differentiate your services from the competition and establish the foundation for additional revenue-generating offerings in the future. IPTV services can also be packaged with voice and high speed Internet (HSI) services in creative ways to create compelling bundles that cause subscribers to switch their services, allegiance and revenues to you. To deliver compelling triple play services, including the advanced capabilities your subscribers demand, you need a robust triple play solution that also meets your business, network and operational needs. However, in the past, Tier 2 to Tier 4 service providers have typically been hampered by IPTV solutions offering scaled down and repackaged versions of IPTV components and capabilities that were not designed for them. Now, the Alcatel-Lucent Triple Play Express for Regional Operators offers an end-to-end IP video solution designed specifically to meet your requirements. Triple Play Express for Regional Operators 3
