6 Workstation Pre-Processing H-alpha Live: 1) Checking the image size and quality 2) Bad images directly put into a backup archive 3) Good images are prepared for the Live Images and the Post- Processing. At the same time a Calcium and a White-light Live Image is generated. 4) Image Processing: FITS-Header, JPEG-Image After Sunset: 1) Files are selected at predefined time steps (1 min.); optimum window method (Giammanco, 2000). 2) From the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) the Solar Event Reports are taken for selecting time intervals containing flares (10 min. before and after the flare maximum). X-ray > C3 and all optical flares are selected.

7 Workstation Pre-Processing H-alpha 3) From each day a movie in avi-mpeg4 format is generated. 4) From each selected flare a movie in avi-mpeg4 format is generated. 5) The selected data and the movies are transferred to the main archive at KSO per ftp. Additionally a local Backup from the whole data-set is done. 6) The data are also stored in a second archive (Backup). 7) From the main server the data are transferred to Graz to the main SOTERIA UNI GRAZ server (100 Mbit/s ~ 1 image/s). 8) The original data files are kept on the workstation, for one month (for safety). 8 Synoptic Data 1) A raw FITS image where only the header is updated. 2) A FITS table containing the Center-to-Limb Variation (CLV) obtained by Burlov-Vasiljev method (see e.g., Otruba et.al., 2008). 3) A synoptic FITS image where only large scale asymmetry are corrected. 4) A normalized FITS image which is a synoptic image divided by the CLV. 5) A synoptic JPEG image where large scale asymmetries are corrected. In addition the contrast inside and outside the solar disc is enhanced separately. Finally, the image is derotated to north up, and annotated with title and scaleaxis. 6) A normalized JPEG image which is a synoptic JPEG image divided by the CLV. These images are also overlaid with a solar coordinates grid. 7) An icon for fast display on the KSO homepage ( and on the KSO Synoptic Archives (
