2 17 May 2008 Vol 1 No. 4 AOQ Sets Up Software Systems Engineering Division Australian Organisation for Quality Queensland (AOQ-QLD TM ) collaborated with the Software Quality Institute (SQI) to establish the Software & Systems Engineering Division. A Division is a grouping of individuals with like interests. Divisions operate nationally with committee members from various states. The Software & Systems Engineering Division aims to: promote and contribute to the science and practice of quality management and business improvement in any of its forms in software and systems engineering. recognise and to advance the status of the natural persons engaged in the software and systems engineering. disseminate knowledge of the science and practice of quality management and business improvement in software and systems engineering. initiate, conduct, supervise, and assist in research and investigations into the science and practice of quality management and business improvement in software and systems engineering. participate in and contribute to industry Benchmarking. foster integration between organisational interfaces. AOQ-QLD TM exists to: Serve its members e.g. provide member support such assistance with migrating to the relevant AS-ISO management standards Provide a value for money consulting/auditing service to members Provide training in quality and business improvement technologies Promote and manage the Gold Awards for Business Excellence Communicate with members and the business community at large Market the Association, the profession and quality as an integral component of good management Develop and present events such as member evenings, sponsored workshops/seminars, and conferences Lobby governments at all levels Lobby associations such as Local Chambers of Commence and their business awards, state branches of national employer associations and unions Be financially viable Provide opportunities for like minded members to unite in specific industry groupings called Divisions. For more information visit The SQI provides a focal point in Australia for research, education, and government and industry liaison in a broad range of areas relating to quality in software and systems. Over the past ten years, the Institute has increased its national and international presence through its participation in the SPICE project, by managing the trials project for the Asia Pacific region and conducting a significant number of SPICE assessments and training programmes for government and industry bodies. The SQI is a Transition Partner for CMMI training and SCAMPI appraisal services with the Software Engineering Institute and has also taken a role as a transition Partner for Practical Software Measurement. 8 Entrepreneurs Divison The objectives of the Entrepreneurs Division include to promote and contribute to the science, understanding and practice of entrepreneurship and to conduct and assist in research and investigations into the science and practice of quality management, quality assurance and business excellence in entrepreneurial activities.
