1 HIGH SCHOOL PROFILE School Name: Address: La Châtaigneraie 2, chemin de la Ferme 1297 Founex Switzerland Tel: Fax: Website: CEEB Code: Senior Administrators Director General: Mrs Vicky Tuck Principal Secondary Section: Mr David Woods Counsellors Krista Jacobson, North America Jonathan Halden, UK and Australia Béatrice Hoesli, Switzerland and other European countries La Châtaigneraie is one of the three campuses of The International School of Geneva, an independent non-profit foundation with a Governing Board, which includes representatives from the Federal, Cantonal, and City authorities. According to its mission, the School educates children of Swiss and international families in the greater Geneva area, providing instruction in both French and English. Founded in 1924 shortly after the establishment of the League of Nations in Geneva, its mission is to prepare an international student body of over 130 nationalities and 90 mother tongues to enter universities in many countries around the world. The International School of Geneva was the main agent in creating the International Baccalaureate programme. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Council of International Schools. Students are admitted on a non-selective, first-come, first-served basis. 95% of graduates go on to higher education. LA CHÂTAIGNERAIE CAMPUS Enrollment (Years 9-13): Approximately 670 students with 51 first nationalities. Academic organisation: Students are prepared for university entrance by means of the International Baccalaureate (IB). 2 GRADING Class rank: The School has a transient student population. Some students remain for only one or two years, which does not allow for the compilation of a meaningful class rank based on GPA. Therefore we do not rank. Grading system: There are three terms per year. Students are graded on a scale of 1 to 7 in the English and International Baccalaureate courses and on a Scale of 1 to 6 in the Swiss Maturité courses. Marking standards are very rigorous. Students are elected to the Honor Roll in the IB program with a 6 average and to the Excellence Roll with a 6.5 average. GPA s are not weighted. STUDENT ACTIVITIES International Award Scheme (Bronze, Silver & Gold levels), Student League of Nations, Math Contests, Talent Contest, Fashion Show, Humanitarian Support trips, Orchestra, Choirs, School Newspaper.
