1 AmeriSpec of Lethbridge 100 Laval Blvd. W Lethbridge, AB TEL (403) FAX (403) ryan.leavitt@amerispec.ca Energy Analysis Pre-Build Report for:
2 According to the plans and specifications which you provided and that Amerispec has confirmed, I have completed an energy evaluation of your home using the most current version of government certified energy modelling software. Based on your forced air change rate of 0.81 ACH at 50 Pascals, and the component specs provided and observed, this house receives a rating of 92 on the EnerGuide Rating System depicted by the scale below. For many older houses, meeting 65 or higher on the scale would be quite an achievement. New houses typically receive a rating of 65 or higher, simply because of improvements in building standards and practices over the years. Relatively few houses achieve a rating of 80 or higher, and those that do represent the most energyefficient houses on the market. Therefore, the EnerGuide rating scale shown ranges from 65 to 100. Typical Energy Efficiency Ratings Typical Rating New house built to building code standards New house with some energy-efficiency improvements Energy-efficient new house House requiring little or no purchased energy Estimated Annual Energy Consumption Below, is the estimated annual energy consumption of electricity and natural gas. These estimates are based on a number of standard assumptions, such as a family of four living in the home, specific thermostat settings, and usage rates for hot water, lighting and appliances. This house has an estimated annual energy consumption of 89 GJ. Electricity Natural Gas Oil Propane Total (kilowatt-hours) (cubic metres) (litres) (litres) (gigajoules) Current estimate
3 Estimated Energy Consumption by End Use All houses lose heat to the outdoors during the heating season through air leakage, ventilation (e.g. exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchen) and the transfer of heat through the basement, walls, roof, windows and doors. Lost heat must be replaced by your main heating device (furnace, boiler, fireplace, etc.). This is called space heating. Generally, space heating, domestic hot water, and lights and appliances make up most of the energy consumption in a house. The pie chart below shows an estimated break down of how energy will be consumed once occupied. Estimated Heat Loss The bar graph below shows how the energy for the "space heating" segment - shown in the pie chart above - actually gets used in the heating of this house. A long bar indicates where the house will lose more heat; a short bar indicates where it will lose less heat.
4 Yearly Energy Consumption Comparison: The chart below depicts an energy usage comparison between a standard home, (built to code) and a Greener Home built to ESTAR specifications. These estimated energy consumptions are calculated using monthly local weather averages as well as current local energy costs and are based on an assumed occupancy of two adults and two children who are home 50% of the time. 5 13 Year Cost Analysis The chart below is a cost versus savings analysis comparing a Greener Home and a home built in accordance with local building codes. The projected calculations assume a mortgage of 285,000 over a 25 year period with a 5% down payment and a 5 year amortization period. Please note that these are calculated estimates and predictions, but not actual amounts. For further information on your EnerGuide rating or ENERGY STAR certification please don't hesitate to call.
