10 Unavailability risks on Standard Services Primary Disc System Failures (requires IPL to startup LPAR to use Secondary Disc system). Failure in one or several sub systems (IMS, CICS, DB2 etc.) (*) Complete LPAR outage (*) HW failure (*) Maintenance Windows - planned => may imply unwanted unavailability. - 2 occasions at daylight saving times HW Maintenance (*) A D/R solution may somewhat mitigate unavailability. 16 Continuous Availability for Linux on z VM03 VM06 Linux CSE Linux System data Application data PPRC Primary 3390 Mirror 3390 NFS / NetApp - The VM Linux-partions act backup for each other with capacity to take over all procuction machines from the other. - All disk configured reachable from both LPAR.
