9 9 What employers expect from you: o professional education and working experience in your profession o German language skills o motivation o ability to work under pressure o friendliness o reliability o readyness to work overtime

10 10 Working conditions you receive a working contract containing your rights and duties normal working time: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week collective agreements payment: 12 monthly salaries a year, plus normally in addition to that you receive holiday and christmas allowance (13th and 14th salary) holidays: 25 working days per year the employer will pay out your wage in net to you In case of questions concerning salary, working contract, working hours etc. you can address the chamber of labour ( Arbeiterkammer ) for support

11 Social security Employer has to register his workers at the social security office you receive an E-CARD with your austrian social security number. Social insurance includes: Health insurance Accident insurance: medical treatment or social benefits if you have an accident while working Pension insurance Unemployment insurance the contribution for social security is deducted from your wage automatically by your employer and transferred to the social security office 11

13 13 Taxes You have to pay taxes from your wage in Austria The employer will deduct the income tax from your wage and pay it to the local tax office Before coming to Austria, contact your local tax office in Spain and ask, which points to consider (eg. Double tax treaty)

14 14 Accommodation Depending on the region (Bundesland, country sidel / town), rental fees range from 5 /sqm in Burgenland up to 10 /sqm in Vienna or Vorarlberg plus approx. 25 % overheads. How to find accommodation? Weekend-Newspapers, Agencies and Internet-platforms (for example wohnquadrat.at) Beware of real estate agencies (commission of up to 6 months rental fee) Hire contracts are normaly limited up to 1 year, sometimes you will find unlimited contracts.

15 15 Registration In Austria you have to register your residence within 3 days after arrival at the official authority ( Magistrat in towns or Gemeindeamt in the county) and fill in a residence registration form ( Meldezettel ) All EU citizens and their family members have to apply for a registration certificate ( Anmeldebescheinigung ) within 3 months of residence in Austria at the local residence authority (Magistrat or Bezirkshauptmannschaft).
