1 Energy Resource Management and Development Advising Newsletter Fall 2015 Semester Renewable Energy Concentration Advising for the Fall 2015 semester begins on March 30, Take the following steps to prepare for your advising appointment. Advising and Registration Order Students are advised and register based on class standing or priority groups 1. Priority Registration Varsity athletes, second bachelors candidates, Honors Program, Veterans 2. Seniors 3. Freshman 4. Juniors 5. Sophomores Check your registration date in WyoWeb and schedule an advising appointment during the week prior to that date. Advising Preparation Use this check list to prepare for your advising appointment. Log in to WyoWeb to check your status on these items. 1. Do you have a hold that will prevent you from registering? Click Student Records > Holds. Be sure to remove holds prior to your registration date. 2. Do you know which classes you need to take? Click Student Records > Degree Evaluation. Also review your suggested course list. 3. Do you know your registration date? Click Registration > Registration Status. 4. Check your mid-term grades on WyoWeb in Student Records > Grades > Midterm Grades. If you are not passing a course, meet with your instructor to determine if you will be able to pass the course with a grade of C or better. 5. Pick up a School of Energy Resource Course Request Form. They are located in the Energy Innovation Center Student Area on the 2 nd floor. Please do not use course request forms from other colleges! You can also download a course request from: 6. Each student receives an showing a suggested course list to help with setting a schedule. Select the classes for your schedule by using the suggested course list, the degree evaluation and the advising newsletter. 7. Check prerequisites. The College of Business administratively drops students who do not meet the prerequisites. The College of Engineering and Applied Science blocks students from registering for a class if they have not completed the prerequisites. 8. Complete the Course Request Form with your schedule prior to your advising appointment. 9. Schedule an advising appointment. Page 1

2 10. You will receive your PERC number from Pam Henderson during your advising appointment. Last Day to Withdraw from a Class The last day to withdraw from a course is April 3, Withdrawing from a course can have impacts on your financial aid package. Please visit with Pam Henderson before deciding to withdraw from a course. USP 2015 Students with less than 60 credit hours are eligible to transfer to the USP 2015 program. Information regarding your eligibility will be included in your suggested course list and will be discussed during your advising appointment. SER Calculus Classes The SER calculus classes are being phased out. The last SER calculus class being offered is 2210 Section 01 in Fall Students will take the regular calculus classes in the future. College of Business Priority Registration The College of Business is expanding priority registration to a number of classes. Be sure to check registration dates in the Comments section for these classes and look for B1 in the Special Approval column. Add a reminder to your calendar so that you register on time. ACCT 1010 Principles of Accounting I College of Business majors/minors register beginning June 29, 2015 Majors/minors that require ACCT 1010 register beginning July 13, 2015 For the following classes, College of Business majors/minors register through June 29, All other students register on a space available basis beginning June 30, ACCT 1020 Principles of Accounting II FIN 3250 Corporate Finance MGT 3110 Business Ethics MGT 3210 Management and Organization MKT 3210 Intro to Marketing DSCI 3210 Production and Operations Management College of Business Online Classes On-campus students can take no more than 4 online business courses during their undergraduate career. Minors Consider the addition of a minor to your program to add depth in your area of interest. Visit for more information. Tips for Scheduling Classes Check prerequisites Schedule classes with one section first Take a maximum of two high-difficulty courses each semester Take a minimum of 12 credit hours to be full-time A normal load is 14 to 17 credit hours Reduce your credit hours if you are working more than 15 to 20 hours per week Sophomores and juniors should schedule alternate sections in popular classes such as Biology, Chemistry, Math and Business Page 2

3 Fall 2015 Class Schedule The most accurate information for the class schedule is in WyoWeb. You can view the class schedule in one of two ways. Student Records > Lookup classes OR Registration > Add or Drop Class OR Lookup Classes Important Date and Deadlines March 26 - Last day to drop second-half block courses March 27 - Last day to add second-half block courses March 30-April 3 - Advising Week for fall 2015 April 1 - Priority registration for fall 2015 begins April 1 - Registration for summer 2015 Outreach and Online courses begins April 3 - Last day to withdraw from individual semester courses April 17 - Last day to withdraw from second-half block courses April 24 - Last day to withdraw from university for spring 2015 May 8 - Last day of classes May Finals Week May 16 - Residence halls close May 16 - Commencement May 21 - Final grades must be submitted online by 12 noon May 26 Summer Classes Begin Environment and Natural Resources Majors Students concurrently majoring in the Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) program should take one class each semester that applies to the ENR program. Contact your Haub School advisor if you have questions. Concurrent Majors, Minors, Honors Program, and ROTC Check your degree evaluation and contact your advisor to be sure you are taking classes that apply to your program. Take one class each semester to fulfill the program requirement. Automatic Waitlist A new automatic wait list program is being implemented when a class is closed. Visit for more information about the waitlist process. A class section waitlist is not available to students until the section s enrollment cap is reached. Students who attempt to register for a closed section may add their names to the waitlist for that section. If a seat in the section becomes available, the student at the top of the waitlist is notified at their uwyo.edu address. The student will then have 24 hours, from the time the notification is sent, to log in to his or her WyoWeb account and add the class. If the student has opted into text message notification, he or she will also receive a notification via text. The open seat will be reserved solely for the student at the top of the waitlist: no other student may register for the seat during the 24-hour time period. If the student at the top of the waitlist does not add the class within the 24-hour period, he or she will be removed from the waitlist and the next student on the list will be notified. Page 3
