how will they KNOW? North Carolina Baptists, Thank you for promoting the annual North Carolina Missions Offering (NCMO) with your church, your family and your friends. Countless lives will be touched if you give a monetary gift in Jesus name in support of missions in this state through this special offering. Demonstrating God s love is at the heart of this year s NCMO theme, So They Know. This theme is based on John 13:34-35 where Jesus commands His disciples to love one another so that the world will know they are His disciples. It is crucial that we surrender ourselves as living sacrifices, laying down our lives as Jesus laid down His life for us. Obedience to this command of Jesus makes it possible for others to see Jesus living His life through us. When you give to missions through the NCMO, your individual offering supports ministry activities that mobilize people for missions including the work of disaster relief, construction projects, medical/dental ministries and mission camps of NC Baptist Men. You also help plant new churches for internationals living in North Carolina and you support mission outreach projects through NC Baptist associations. As you read this booklet, you will learn how numerous NC Baptist ministries are impacting lostness and making disciples. In 2014, funds received through the NCMO helped start 78 new churches across this state and welcome into our membership 25 new affiliate churches. Within these 103 new churches, more than 3,500 people trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior last year alone. Your contribution to missions through the NCMO also supports ministry and outreach efforts right in your own backyard. Ten percent of contributions received from churches within individual Baptist associations are returned to that association to help fund local mission initiatives in local communities. As you read this guide, I hope you will be encouraged as you recognize how God continues to work through a group of Christ followers who call themselves NC Baptists. I hope the stories and pictures will help motivate more people to move out of the bleachers and get in the game through personal involvement in NC missions. Give praise and thanks to God for the way He accomplished great things through the offering you gave last year. I thank you for your support of this offering that is focused on mission needs in North Carolina. I pray the theme verse for this special offering promotion will grip your heart and motivate you to demonstrate your love for Jesus by loving others so lost individuals around you will not only know that you belong to Christ, but that they will be drawn to Him as well. In His Service, Milton A. Hollifield Jr. Executive Director-Treasurer Baptist State Convention of North Carolina

NC BAPTIST MEN BAPTIST ON MISSION 2015 GOAL $856,720 Like many residents of New Jersey, Paul Kenny left his home and evacuated as Hurricane Sandy approached back in October of When he returned several days later, he discovered that 16 inches of water had flooded his home. After having to throw out all of his belongings, Kenny began the process of putting the pieces of his life back together. 6% 41% Kenny soon met some volunteers from North Carolina Baptist Men (NCBM), who sent hundreds of volunteers to the region to assist in the cleanup and rebuilding efforts. NCBM volunteers not only helped Kenny rebuild his home, they helped him rebuild his life. As NCBM volunteers worked alongside Kenny, they engaged in gospel conversations, gave him a Bible and answered his questions about Jesus. Kenny eventually placed his faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized in July Now Kenny not only volunteers with NCBM in the ongoing relief efforts related to Hurricane Sandy, he also shares with others how his own life has been changed through the gospel. Disaster relief is just one of the 17 different ministries of NCBM, all of which are supported by the North Carolina Missions Offering (NCMO). When you give to the NCMO, you are helping show and share the love of Christ to people just like Paul Kenny in our state, nation and world. It s through such acts of love, Jesus said, that others will know that we are His disciples. These guys helped me turn my life around, PAUL KENNY, SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J., HURRICANE SANDY VICTIM 4 NC BAPTIST MEN/BAPTISTS ON MISSION

Disaster Relief NCBM disaster relief volunteers responded to 39 disasters in 2014, which included tornado, flood, hurricane and winter storms in North Carolina, as well as tornadoes in Mississippi and flooding in Detroit. NCBM supported relief efforts in Sri Lanka following landslides and flooding. Additionally, volunteers continued ongoing relief efforts in New Jersey related to Hurricane Sandy and in Haiti, five years after the devastating earthquake of Collectively, individuals served a total of 12,381 volunteer days, completed more than 1,200 recovery and rebuild projects, prepared 24,513 meals and provided more than 6,000 showers. Medical/Dental In 2014, NCBM s two mobile medical/dental clinics logged more than 21,000 miles, crisscrossing North Carolina to provide critical care in 157 locations. More than 1,300 medical and dental professionals volunteered their time and talents to serve more than 4,600 patients who received free dental or medical care. In addition to medical and dental care, patients received spiritual care, as well. More than 1,300 additional volunteers, which including pastors, counselors and translators, helped minister to patients at every location. Your NCMO contributions keep these mobile units on the road. NCBM is excited to add a new wellness bus to its fleet for The unit is equipped to provide educational material and health screenings to patients, including cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes checks. The new unit will enhance NCBM s medical missions ministry. Aviation Ministry The NCBM aviation ministry provides free air transportation to medical patients. In 2014, 81 volunteer pilots transported 221 patients to and from hospitals across the country. Thanks to the NCMO and the gracious service of the pilots, this ministry saved patients a total of $437,000 in transportation costs. Summer Camps More than 1,600 youth participated in 14 Deep Impact mission camps last summer. Deep Impact camps allow students to participate in a number of community-oriented missions projects, including construction, Vacation Bible School/Day Camps, sports evangelism, servant evangelism, prayer walks and more. Additionally, more than 500 children attended Camp Caraway, where they learned about the importance of missions. Campers engaged in daily Bible study with a camp pastor, learned from missionaries and participated in numerous activities including team-building games, swimming, zip lining and paintball. The camp experience shows boys and girls that the Christian life is exciting. NC BAPTIST MEN/BAPTISTS ON MISSION 5

MISSION CAMPS 2015 GOAL $313,080 41% 6% Two camps directed by NCBM provide churches and youth groups affordable short-term missions opportunities. Located in Shelby and Red Springs, each can accommodate up to 200 volunteers per day. Volunteers engage in a number of mission projects in the surrounding communities, including building wheelchair ramps, painting, repairing roofs, cleaning and mowing yards, and much, much more. In 2014, volunteers serving at the Shelby and Red Springs mission camps tallied more than 6,000 volunteer days. Mission Camps receive 15 percent of the NCMO. MOBILZATION MINISTRY PROJECTS 2015 GOAL $124,200 Christ calls every believer to be a missionary. With offerings received through NCMO, men, women and students are being mobilized to be on mission in the United States and around the world. NCBM works with missions partners to plan, equip and send volunteer teams. 41% 6% Through these partnerships, individuals use their talents, gifts and abilities for Kingdom purposes. Some teach children or adults. Some use their medical expertise or construction skills to share the love of Jesus. Others show hospitality by serving in numerous other ways saw the dedication of the Good Shepherd Center in Guatemala, which will serve the region through a community health clinic, leadership training center and other ministries. Volunteer teams also served in Armenia, Cuba, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya and Romania, where they provided meals, led Vacation Bible Schools and sports camps, provided medical care, and much more. Thousands of volunteers also served in the United States, helping ministry partners in the Appalachian coalfields, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, the Rocky Mountain states and Vermont. Volunteers on these teams served on numerous mission projects, such as construction, assisting church plants and Vacation Bible Schools. 6 MISSION CAMPS/MOBILIZATION MINISTRY PROJECTS

CHURCH PLANTING 2015 GOAL $596,000 The Baptist State Convention of North Carolina works with churches, 6% associations and church-planting networks to facilitate the launch of new churches. Since 2007, the BSCNC has helped start 927 churches across the state, averaging more than 100 new church starts annually. In 2014 alone, the convention helped start 78 new churches and welcomed 25 new affiliate churches. 41% The convention s team of church planting consultants provides training, coaching and additional support to these church planters, equipping them to reach their communities for Christ. Why is Church Planting important? With more than 4,300 North Carolina Baptist churches, some may wonder why the emphasis on church planting is necessary. Statistics repeatedly demonstrate that new church plants are the most effective way to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. North Carolina is one of the fastest growing states in the nation, and an estimated 5.8 million lost people live here. As North Carolina becomes more culturally and ethnically diverse, planting disciple-making churches is essential in pushing back darkness and impacting lostness. CHURCH PLANTING 7

Reaching the Nations in North Carolina God is bringing the nations to North Carolina, which is evidenced by the fact that more than 300 languages are spoken inside the state s borders. Many of the people groups who speak these languages have no churches they can attend where they can hear the gospel in their native tongue. Our church planting consultants are committed to getting the gospel to these individuals in their heart language and planting contextual churches to further evangelize and disciple these language communities. Presently, our church planting team is working with 64 language groups and new church planters from 17 countries. Of the 103 new churches welcomed to the BSCNC in 2014, 39 spoke languages other than English. Hispanics continue to be one of the largest and fastest growing ethnic groups in the United States. It s estimated that more than 1 million Hispanics call North Carolina home. New Hispanic churches need to be planted in every town and city across the state, says William Ortega, Hispanic church planting consultant with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. We can meet the need of starting more Hispanic churches in North Carolina with your gifts to the North Carolina Missions Offering! The Goal: Making Disciples The Baptist State Convention worked with 103 new churches in new church plants and 25 new affiliate churches. Collectively, these new churches reported 3,513 professions of faith and averaged more than 5,300 in weekly attendance. The NCMO is vital to the convention s church-planting efforts, providing nearly one-third of the church planting team s annual budget. Twenty-eight percent of this year s offering will go toward planting new churches in North Carolina. By giving to the NCMO, you help plant churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ. 8 CHURCH PLANTING

ASSOCIATIONS 2015 GOAL $210,000 6% Each year 10 percent of the NCMO s receipts are distributed to the state s 78 Baptist associations from which they came. 41% Associations use these funds in a variety of mission and ministry projects, including evangelistic outreaches and initiatives aimed toward ministering to the needs of people in their community. For more than 30 years, the Raleigh Baptist Association has used NCMO funds to support its annual evangelistic outreach at the N.C. State Fair. The multiple ministries of the 10-day outreach to the workers, staff and visitors consist of chaplaincy, Campers on Mission, the dental bus and worship in the chapel, said Roger Nix, director of missions for the Raleigh Baptist Association. Thanks to NCMO, many people have been touched by the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Every year, the Little River Association uses NCMO monies to help fund its mission efforts around the world, particularly in Armenia, and to assist new church plants at home. This money is plowed right back into the mission effort of building the Kingdom of God, said Dan Deaton, associational missionary for the Little River Baptist Association. We are grateful for NCMO! Thank you. Your gifts to the NCMO support strategic evangelism and mission efforts like these and many more through your local association. ASSOCIATIONS 9
