3 Michael P. Ehrenhaus, Curriculum Vitae, Page 3 Research Interests I am intrigued by new anterior lamellar keratoplasty techniques and plan on investigating the biomechanics and wound healing properties of lamellar corneal surgery. This would include developing an animal model to test intrastromal lenticules, creating new additive inlay and onlay corneal procedures, and using the Intralase laser technology to design new methods of treatment. I would like to better understand corneal wound healing in order to improve lamellar surgical wound clarity to facilitate more rapid wound healing and improved visual recovery. Research Experience Current Comparing the current methods of pterygium excision to elucidate the one causing the least recurrence and the most cosmetic result Evaluating the Medial Rectus muscle insertion location in patients with Nasal Pterygium, and it s surgical importance The Artificial Anterior Chamber and the IntraLase femtosecond Laser; Determining the optimal sizing for LKP Decreasing OCT proven CME with Prophylactic Nonsteroidals, Restasis and LASIK; Decreasing Dry Eye Signs and Symptoms, Designing efficient and safe protocols for resident education of Refractive Surgery, 2002 Conjunctival Colonization by Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Among Healthcare Workers Undergoing Refractive Surgery, in conjunction with Eric Donnenfeld at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, Rockville Centre, NY A Retrospective Study of Non-Responders to Xalatan, with Stanley Berke, Richard Sturm, and Ronald Caronia at OCLI Lynbrook, NY Neonatal Screening Using Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions, with Jane Madell, PhD, Joseph R McPhee, PhD, and Tziona Bin-nun, MS, Dept of Audiology and Speech Pathology, at Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, NY Defining Spontaneous Cerebrospinal Fluid Rhinorrhea, with Gadi Har-El, Dept of Otolaryngology at SUNY-HSCB and Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, NY Monitoring of Facial Nerve Activity Using Pulsed Magnetic Transcranial Stimulation, with Gadi Har-El, and Joseph McPhee, PhD, Dept of Otolaryngology at SUNY-HSCB and Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, NY (Published by Dr Har-El and Dr McPhee, 2000).
