H.S.A.S.C.M. is striving to be in tune with new directions for teaching and research in the field of horticulture, landscape and environment. In this context, this postgraduate training is focusing on a Master degree programme entitled "Landscape, Territory and Patrimony" (L.T.P). This training in the field of landscape consists of wide range of work opportunities generating real opportunities for research in terms of deepening knowledge and practices of landscape enrichment in relation to the environment. Among the reasons which strongly support the initiation of this Master (LTP), are the following: The Higher School of Agronomical Sciences Chott-Mariem is characterized by a radiant location in the heart of Tunisia's Sahel climate, particularly suited for postgraduate studies Master Landscape, Territory and Patrimony. This training will provide a basis for open wide prospects for research, development and employment of graduates in this area with a Mediterranean regional specificity associated with an international and globalization perspective through the Inter-university cooperation. Training of trainers in this discipline is very important and urgent unquestionably, given the current and projected needs of university teachers working in this discipline, The training combines complementary additions with scientific depth using a multi-faceted approach that integrates several components: the landscape in relation to patrimony and the environment Information about the coordinator of the study programme Title Doctor First name Hichem Family name Rejeb Function in HEI Director of Research Unit Telephone Fax Mobile address [email protected]

If programme encompasses more than one study field, justify why you have decided to choose selected study field. The Master programme on Landscape Territory and Patrimony will address urgent need to train competent teaching and research staff in addition to professionals able to develop programmes to overcome environmental and other issues related to sustainable development of the Landscape. Definition of research disciplines according to the Frascati classification (cross only one study field): Natural sciences/mathematics Engineering and technology Social sciences Humanities 8
9 Medical sciences Biotechnical sciences Art disciplines Other Justification: Describe briefly why the proposed study programme falls under selected study field. In the Euro-Mediterranean region the various ecosystems are subject to intense and rapid mutation, change and irreversible degradation of soil and vegetation cover, increasing urbanization and deterioration of water and air quality. All these factors contribute to the present environmental crises. In this regard an inter-disciplinary approach must be adopted, in order to understand some aspects of efficient environmental management taking into consideration the various facets of landscape: symbolic, cultural and sustainability. The challenge is to put in place the necessary framework and reflection prior to action planning to address the issues of territorial transformation in terms of socio-economic development. In this context, it is wise or even indispensable to build functional relationships between research and the various socio-economic sectors in addition to a real openness and partnership between the higher education institutions and the civil society Definition of the main goals of the study programme, general and programme specific competences Describe briefly (if possible in line): Main goals of the study programme: The main aim of the programme is the design of outdoor and public space to achieve environmental, socio-economic and aesthetic development of the Euro-Mediterranean region. a) General competences acquired through the study programme: To train professional researchers and teachers on planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes and/or projects with focus on the importance of land use in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. To initiate participants in the study programme on relationships between sustainable development and landscape territories and environment at large. To create a better visibility of landscape concepts which have to be translated into operational components of development programmes. To assist in the integration of environmental and landscape management practices in the urban, peri-urban and rural areas to support national efforts for efficient land use, for planning and sustainable development. To maintain and valorisation of symbolic landscape b) Specific competences acquired through the study programme: The Master programme LTP provides a degree of training for specific skills include: landscape Mediation: space planning Planning and territorial decision support Design and use of urban, suburban and rural areas Management and development of outdoor spaces Recovery and rehabilitation of sensitive areas at risk. Notification At the end of the Master programme of study, crucial identified issues could be subject to doctoral dissertation to be undertaken by the most preferment students. 9
10 c) Employability of graduates (represent the possibilities of employment of graduates on certain workplace home and in foreign countries): The graduates are mostly needed in the public and private sectors at different levels: Decision making on policies and strategies of landscape, land use and environment management and development. Planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities, projects and programmes aiming at addressing major issues for sustainable socio-economic development. The potential employers of the graduate could be governmental, institutions (Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Interior and Local Development, etc.) well as non-governmental organizations, professional associations and the private sector (in particular the fields of tourism and urban agriculture).

Take into the consideration the international exchanges of students and professors, implementations of joint degree study programmes, common organization of summer schools, etc. The master landscape territory and patrimony of its originality and its opening North-South will be a platform for exchange of researchers and new issues that are of major concern to land issues. This formation has the advantage of finding cross-bridges and opening up real opportunities for researchers working in the theme of Sustainable Management. New Euro- Mediterranean dimension allow: (i) exchange research programs action North-Sud (ii) exchange of common methodologies and approaches (iii) creating network including research and teaching staff in addition to professional and local environment managers and users. 11
