B - Yes, on my dad s computer, I ve got a house with seven bedrooms, a very big living room, four bathrooms and two swimming pools! In the garden there s a zoo with tigers and lions and monkeys! 11 The weekends A - What do you do at the weekends? B - On Saturdays I get up at nine o clock and I watch TV with my brother and sister. We have breakfast and then we go out. A - Where do you go? B - Sometimes I go to the park and sometimes I go to my grandparents house. We have lunch with my grandparents on Sundays. A - Where do they live? B - They live in a small village near Madrid. There are lots of restaurants and shops in the town. A - Is the town near the beach? B - Yes, it is but you have to go to the beach by car. A - How many weeks are you at your cousins? B - Two weeks. And then we are going to Barcelona. A - I m going to Barcelona too! We can meet and go to the zoo or the science museum together! B - Yes, that s a good idea! Primary 2

15 My typical day A - Can you describe your typical day? B - I get up at half past seven and then I have breakfast, I have fruit and cereal with milk. I walk to school with my mum and my sister. A - Do you have lunch at school? B - Yes, I have lunch at school at one o clock. After school I go to the park with my friends but in winter I go home and I watch TV or play computer games. I have a bath, then I have dinner and after that I go to bed. A - What a busy day! Primary 3

17 Transport in the city A - Tell me about transport in your city. B - My city has got lots of different types of transport. There are trains and buses and a tram. A - And is there an underground train? B - What do you mean? A Metro-type train? A - Yes, I do. B - No, there isn t an underground train. A - Is there a lot of traffic in your city? B - Yes, there is. It s a problem because lots of people drive to work and to school. There s a lot of pollution. A - Which transport do you use to go to school? B - I don t use transport! I walk. Primary 3

18 In the restaurant A - Hello, can I help you? B - Yes please. I d like spaghetti and a salad. A - What sauce would you like with the spaghetti? You can have carbonara, tomato or meat sauce. B - I ll have carbonara sauce please. A - And which salad would you like? B - Can I have the blue cheese salad please? A - Yes of course. And to drink? B - Peach juice please. A - I m sorry we haven t got any juice. B - OK, water then please. A - A large bottle or a glass of water? B - A glass of water is fine thank you. A - So, that s spaghetti with carbonara sauce, blue cheese salad and water. B - Yes, thank you. Primary 3

19 The Geography Quiz A - First question. What s the weather like in Sydney, Australia in December? B - That s easy! December is winter, it s cold. A - No, I m sorry, that s not right. In Australia it s summer in January. B - Oh, I didn t know that. A - OK, next question - Which river is longer, the Amazon River in Brazil or the Nile in Africa? B - I think it s the Nile. A - Yes, you re right. Well done! B - OK, the last question - Which country is bigger, China or Russia? A - Russia, it s the biggest country in the world. B - That s right, well done! Primary 3

20 My favourite room A - Which is your favourite room in your house? B - My favourite room is the living room. There s a big red sofa, a big TV and a computer and a long table with lots of chairs. There are two desks in front of the table, where my brothers and I do our homework. A - My favourite room is my bedroom. There s a bed and a sofa and there s a desk where I do my homework. Next to the desk there s a very big wardrobe for all my clothes! There isn t a computer in my bedroom but I ve got a tablet. B - Wow! Lucky you Primary 4

21 Phone conversation A - Hello Ben, it s me, Anna. B - Hello, how are you? A - I m fine, I m doing my homework. How about you? B - I ve got a sore throat. A - Oh, I m sorry. B - It s ok, I feel fine. Later I m going to the park to play football, do you want to come? A - Yes, what time? B - In the afternoon, at about three o clock. A - Ok, see you later then. A - See you later, bye! Primary 4

22 A Computer Game A - Do you play computer games? B - Yes, I do. I play Club Penguin. A - What s Club Penguin? B - It s a game. If you want to play, first you go to the website clubpenguin.co.uk and you have to put in your name and your address and then they send you a password. A - And then? B - And then you choose a penguin and a name for your penguin. You can play games with your penguin. You get points for the games and with the points you can buy food and clothes and toys for your penguin. A - How fantastic! I m going to look at Club Penguin! B - We can play together. Primary 4

23 Best friends A - Tell me about your best friend. B - My best friend is called Emily. She s got blue eyes and blonde hair. She s very kind and generous and she s very funny. A - Do you see her often? B - No, I don t. She lives in London! But we talk on Skype every Saturday and we write s sometimes. In the summer I m going to visit her. A - My best friend is Mark. He s eleven. He s very tall and very sporty. He plays basketball, football and tennis very well. B - Do you see him often? A - Yes, I do. I see him every day! Primary 4 3

24 Are you healthy? A - I want to ask you some questions to find out if you are healthy or not. B - OK. A - Do you like sport? B - Yes, I do. I love it. A - What sports do you do? B - I play football, tennis and hockey. A - That s good. What food do you like? B - I love chips and hamburgers and pizza and sweets. A - That s not healthy! Do you eat fruit and vegetables? B - Yes, I do, but I don t like them. A - You are quite healthy. I give you three out of five. Primary 4

25 Summer Plans A - Are you going to the beach this summer? B - No, I m not. My family and I are going to a village in the mountains on 5 th August.. A - How boring! B - No, it s not! We are going to a place with a river. We can canoe, swim and jump into the water. It s great! What are you going to do this summer? A - We are going to the beach on 31 st July with my aunt and uncle and cousins. They have got a house next to the beach. We are going to go swimming in the sea every day! I love the beach! B - I like the beach, but I prefer the mountains. The beach is too hot in summer. Primary 4

26 Free time A - What do you like doing in your free time? B - I like sport! I play basketball every weekend with my brother. My brother is very good at basketball. A - Really? I hate sport. I can t play basketball. B - What do you like doing? A - I love playing computer games. I also love drawing, I want to be an artist one day! B - That s great! I can t draw! Do you like any other sports? A - Well, I sometimes I go swimming at the beach. In August I went waterskiing with my best friend! It was fantastic! B - How exciting! Where did you go waterskiing? A - In England! The water was very cold! Primary 5

27 School Timetable A - What s your timetable this year? B - Well, this year I ve got PE on Monday morning and in the afternoon, at a quarter to three, I ve got art. A - And on Tuesdays? B - On Tuesdays I ve got English and maths. A - I don t like maths. B - I do! I like maths, especially geometry. A - And on Wednesdays? B - On Wednesdays I ve got music and maths and social studies. A - And on Thursdays? B - On Thursdays I ve got art and maths and Spanish. And on Fridays I ve got history and workshops. A - What are workshops? B - We teach the younger students in the school. It s fun! Primary 5

28 At the shops A - Hello, can I have some eggs please,? B - How many eggs would you like? A - I d like six please. B - Anything else? A - Yes, I d like some bread and some cheese please. B - How much cheese do you want? A grams. And can I have three large tomatoes please? B - And anything else? A - No, thank you. B - OK, that s 6.70 A - Here s B - Here s the 3.30 change. Bye. A - Bye. Primary 35

29 Jobs A - What job would you like to do? B - I don t know. I know that I don t want to be a doctor because you have to work in a hospital and I hate hospitals! A - What about a firefighter? B - No! I m scared of fire! A - What about a journalist? B - Yes, maybe a journalist, because you can travel to different countries and interview interesting people. A - What about you? What job would you like to do? B - That s easy! I want to be a designer of computer games. You have to study a lot, but I love computers and I like maths and IT. A - That sounds interesting! Primary 5

30 A good weekend and a bad weekend A - What did you do at the weekend? B - My weekend was excellent! I went swimming with my friend Ana on Saturday and on Sunday we went to the park. What did you do at the weekend? A - My weekend was boring! On Saturday morning my dad was painting my bedroom and he fell off a chair and broke his arm so we had to go to the hospital. We waited at the hospital for four hours! B - Oh dear, I m sorry. Is your dad OK now? A - Well, he has his arm in plaster and he can t finish painting my bedroom! Primary 5

31 My school A - What s your name? B - My name s Clare. A - Which school do you go to? B - I go to Park school. A - Really? Do you like your school? B - Yes I do. The playground is big and the teachers are nice. How about you? A - It s ok, but it s a bit far from my house. Do you have lunch at school? B - Yes, I take a packed lunch. I have sandwiches and a bottle of juice. How about you? A - I have school dinner. There is a big cafeteria and the cook is great, he makes delicious pizzas! B - Lucky you! Primary 5

32 Talking about the summer A - Hello! How was your summer? B - It was fantastic! I went to Germany with my mother and father to visit my uncle and aunt. A - What did you do in Germany? B - We visited lots of castles and museums and we ate lots of frankfurters! A - What was the weather like? B - It wasn t sunny. It was a bit cold and it rained! How was your summer? A - Great! I went to my grandparents village, then we went camping in the forest. B - That sounds like fun! I wish it was summer again. A - Me too! Primary 6

33 The oldest person in the family A - Who is the oldest person in your family? B - T he oldest person in my family is my grandmother. A - How old is she? B - She s seventy-five and next week it s her birthday, she s going to be seventy-six. A - What s she like? B - She s amazing! She doesn t work but she s got lots of hobbies. She often goes walking in the mountains, she goes to the theatre and she makes excellent cakes. Last week she went skiing for the first time! A - She sounds great! B - She is great, but I don t see her very often because she s never at home, she s always busy! Primary 6

34 Weekend Plans A - What are you doing this weekend? B - On Saturday I ll probably see my friends to play football and on Sunday I m going to my sister s birthday party. What about you? A - On Saturday I ll see my friends too, we have to prepare the presentation for school. B - And what about Sunday? A - On Sunday I m going to my uncle s house. There are lots of children in his village and there aren t any cars, so we can play in the street. When are you going to do your homework? B - I have done my homework! I planned the presentation yesterday. A - Lucky you! Primary 6

35 Languages A - Did you know that there are more than 4000 languages in the world! B - Really! I didn t know that. A - Yes, and lots of people in different countries speak more than one language. B - How many languages do you speak? A - Three. I speak English because my mum s from England and French because my dad s from France and Spanish because I live in Madrid. B - I know some Chinese characters because my best friend is from China and she is teaching me Chinese. A - Wow! That s impressive, can you show me? B - Yes, of course! Primary 6

36 What is it? A - What has a shell, moves slowly and doesn t have any legs? B - Is it a snail? A - Yes, it is. OK, it s your turn. B - What sleeps for most of the day, is bigger than a rabbit, lives in trees and can t fly? A - Is it a giraffe? B - No! A giraffe doesn t live in trees, it s too big! A giraffe eats trees. The answer is a koala. OK, your turn. A - What moves very quickly, is extremely small and eats blood? B - Blood? A vampire? A - No! Vampires don t exist, it s a mosquito! Primary 6

37 Come to the forest! A - Hello! What are you doing this weekend? B - Hi! I don t know. I ve got lots of homework. A - Would you like to come to my house on Saturday? In the afternoon we are going to go to the forest for a picnic. B - That sounds great! What time shall I come? A - In the morning, we want to leave at B - Where is your house? A - It s near the school. B - Can you explain? A - You have to leave the school and turn left. There s a bakers on your right.
