4 1. Dashboard 1.1 Overall System Health When you initially log into the Web-UI, a Dashboard Summary view is displayed. This view provides a summary of all the Controllers and Access Points deployed on the network, which devices are offline, the RF quality index, traffic utilization and the system security threat level for the system or each site: Dashboard Summary Health Note By default a summary of all the devices in the network will be displayed. You can optionally narrow the scope of the view to a specific site by selecting a RF Domain name in the tree. Note You can view additional details by clicking on the RF Domain name in the Offline Devices, RF Quality, Traffic Utilization and System Security windows. This will launch the statistic Health window for the specific RF Domain. Page 4
5 1.2 Viewing Offline Devices The number of Online and Offline devices is displayed in the Devices window within the selected scope (System or specific RF Domain). You can view a list of offline devices by clicking on the pie-chart: Dashboard Summary Health Click to view the Offline devices Page 5
6 1.3 Inventory The inventory view provides a summary view of each Controller and Access Point deployed in the network in addition to a radio count and top clients for the system or each site (RF Domain): Dashboard Summary Inventory Note By default a summary of all the devices in the network will be displayed. You can optionally narrow the scope of the view to a specific site by selecting a RF Domain name in the tree. Note You can view additional details by clicking on the RF Domain name in the Clients and Radio windows. This will launch the statistic Health window for the specific RF Domain. Page 6
7 1.4 Live Event Summary A live view of system events can be viewed by selecting the Live Events icon in the Event Summary pane. This will launch an Event Live Monitor window which will display system events as they are captured: Launch and Filter the event display by severity Note Clicking directly on a severity counter (i.e Critical, Error, Warning or Information) will filter the live view to only display events form the selected severity and below. 8 1.5 Searching for Devices & Users The search field allows you to locate devices within the WiNG 5.x network. You can search for a specific RF Domain or device in the network by entering a RF Domain, hostname, MAC address or IP address in the search field. If a match is found, the object will be highlighted in the tree: Search by RF Domain Name Search by Hostname Page 8

11 2.1.2 Displaying Firmware Versions The following provides the necessary CLI command and Web-UI path required to display firmware version information for adopted Access Points on the network. 12 2.1.3 Displaying Configuration State The following provides the necessary CLI command and Web-UI path required to obtain the current configuration state of adopted Access Points on the network. 15 2.1.6 Displaying CDP Neighbors The following provides the necessary CLI command and Web-UI path required to view any Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) neighbors learned by an Access Point via its Ge1 interface. 19 2.2 Clustering Displaying Cluster Configuration The following provides the necessary CLI command required to display each Controllers cluster configuration. 25 2.4 Media Independent Network Transport (MiNT) Displaying MiNT Links on Controllers The following provides the necessary CLI command required to display the active MiNT links established on an individual Controller: rfs7000-1# show mint links on <controller-hostname> 3 mint links on : link ip :24576 at level 2, 1 adjacencies, forced link ip :24576 at level 2, 1 adjacencies, (used) link ip :24576 at level 2, 1 adjacencies, (used) Note For campus deployments the Controller will have one IP based Level 1 MiNT link established to each cluster member in addition to level 1 MiNT links to Access Points deployed locally at the site. Note For NOC deployments the Controller will have one IP based Level 2 MiNT link established to each cluster member in addition to one Level 2 MiNT link to the elected RF Domain Manager at each remote site Displaying MiNT Links on Access Points The following provides the necessary CLI command required to display the active MiNT links established on an individual Access Point: rfs7000-1# show mint links on <ap-hostname> 2 mint links on : link vlan-21 at level 1, 2 adjacencies, DIS B9.30 link ip :24576 at level 2, 1 adjacencies, (used) Note For campus deployments each Access Point will have one layer 2 or IP based Level 1 MiNT link established to the centralized Controller. Note For NOC deployments each Access Point will have one IP based Level 2 MiNT link established to the centralized Controller which will be in a used or unused state depending on if the Access Point is the elected RF Domain manager for the site. Note For NOC deployments each Access Point will have one layer 2 Level 1 MiNT link on its Control VLAN to communicate with other Access Points at the remote site. Page 25
26 2.4.3 Displaying MiNT Link Creation Protocol The following provides the necessary CLI command required to view the MiNT links individual Access Point have discovered using MLCP.
