1 REDWOOD CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS HOME SCHOOL PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCEDURE EARLY ENROLLMENT: JANUARY 1 - MARCH 31 Thank you for your interest in our Home School Program. We are currently open for enrollment and are now accepting applications. If after thoroughly reading the enclosed information and considering this matter in prayer, you decide to apply for this program, the procedure is as follows: 1) Fill out the family application form. 2) Read and sign the Philosophy of Home Education - Parental Requirements/ Responsibilities Statement. (To be signed each year) 3) Read and sign the Statement of Faith. (To be signed each year) 4) Both parents must sign all forms (if not possible, explain why). 5) Provide the name and address of your child s previous school so we can request transcripts. 6) Return completed Family Application Packet along with a non-refundable application fee of $ for New Families or $40.00 for Returning Families to the school business office, attention Home School (checks made payable to Redwood Christian Schools). Upon receiving your completed Family application, you will be contacted. All new families applying must be interviewed. If at all possible, we request that both parents be present at the interview. Your children are both welcome and encouraged to come. Once you have been accepted into the RCS Home School Program, you will be given any additional Enrollment forms for the Tracks you have chosen. Enrollment in this program is subject to space availability. Please make sure your packet is filled out completely and signed by both parents. An incomplete packet will be returned to you. This will cause a delay in your application process.

4 Redwood Christian Schools Home School Program PHILOSOPHY OF HOME EDUCATION Redwood Christian School s Home School Program upholds the following Philosophy of Home Education: We believe that children are a gift from God. (Psalm 127) We believe that God has equipped parents to train up a child in the way he should go. (Proverbs 22:6) We believe the responsibility for education rests upon the parent. (Ephesians 6:4) We believe that parents, under the direction of the Lord, possess the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to successfully educate their children. (James 1:5) We believe that each family is uniquely designed by God, and thus, no two home educational environments are identical. (I Corinthians 12:4-11) We believe that not only is it the parents God-given duty to diligently teach, nurture, and direct their children (Deuteronomy 6:5-7), but it is also their constitutional right. RCS Home School Program is a Christian ministry. We are here to support, assist, guide, and help make accountable those families who have accepted the challenge of home educating their children. PARENTAL REQUIREMENTS / RESPONSIBILITIES Be led of the Lord into home schooling Have a willingness to sacrifice personal time Have a determination to help their child(ren) to be all that God planned Invest personal prayer and study time for their home school Appropriate Christian education must be thoughtfully conceived and diligently implemented. I/We understand that Home Schooling requires the parent/teacher s personal interaction in the student s daily instruction along with monitoring, recording, and keeping files of student s progress. I/We understand that, in order to act as the instructor for the student, the parent/teacher may not work, attend school, nor be involved in any activity that will regularly intrude upon the school hours of the student. I/We agree to attend scheduled meetings with our Family Coordinator or Educational Partner and turn-in paperwork on time. Paperwork may include, but not be limited to: textbook list, course descriptions, quarterly goals, student work portfolios, attendance records, grades, report cards, etc. I/We understand that failure to attend scheduled meetings or failure to keep our fees current may result in termination of our participation in RCS Home School Program. We (I) understand and believe that it is our (my) responsibility to educate our (my) child(ren) and that Redwood Christian Schools Home School Program will not be liable or responsible for our (my) child(ren) s educational achievements or any lack therein. We (I) also understand that enrollment in Redwood Christian School Home School Program does not guarantee absolute legal coverage. We (I) will not hold Redwood Christian School Home School Program responsible in the event of any legal action against us (me) by any public agency regarding our (my) educational program. 5 Redwood Christian Schools Statement of Faith The basis of Redwood Christian Schools is the Word of God as interpreted by the following statement of faith: 1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible recorded Word of God. 2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. 4. We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential. 5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. 7.
