Directors: Romeo Camba Romeo is the head of the judicial law clerk program for the Massachusetts Superior Court. He has also served as an adjunct legal research writing professor at Northeastern School of Law, an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Attorney General'ʹs Office, a litigation associate at Burns & Levinson, and a Superior Court law clerk. Romeo has been a member of the AALAM Board of Directors since 2008 and has also served on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern School of Law Alumni/ae Association, in which he served as President, Vice- President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and the Board of Directors of the Harry H. Dow Memorial Legal Assistance Fund. In recent years, Romeo has focused his efforts on upgrading and maintaining the AALAM website, creating and publishing AALAM'ʹs electronic newsletters, increasing AALAM'ʹs presence on social media sites, and finding new ways to leverage such technological tools to promote the organization, its members, and its mission. Romeo looks forward to continuing these efforts in the coming year. Christina Chan Christina Chan is an associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP. Her practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, including breach of contract and violations of unfair trade practices laws, in state and federal court as well as in matters before the American Arbitration Association. She also advises investment companies, broker- dealers, investment advisers and individuals in enforcement matters brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission and other federal and state agencies. She further advises clients on licensing issues with the MA Alcohol Beverages Control Commission, MA Gaming Commission and local licensing authorities. Christina actively engages in pro bono work, representing clients on various matters, including domestic violence protection and prisoner s rights claims. Christina graduated from a joint degree program between Northeastern University School of Law and Tufts University School of Medicine leading to a J.D. and Masters in Public Health.
3 Christina served as director of community relations on Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick s successful re- election campaign in 2010 and from 2011 to present has served and currently serves as Chair of Governor Patrick'ʹs Asian American Commission/Advisory Council. Jason Chan Jason Chan graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology. He then went on to attend the New England School of Law where he served as Editor- In- Chief for the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law. Jason also had his comparative paper published in the spring 2007 edition of the journal. After law school, he went to work for the Worcester District Attorney as an Assistant District Attorney. He is now a partner at Krefetz, Seed and Chan and practices criminal defense. Aside from work, Jason previously served as a board member of the Kwong Kow Chinese School which is located in the heart of Boston s Chinatown. Jason also served as a board member of the Governor'ʹs Asian American Commission. He also volunteers at the Quincy Asian Resources Free Legal Clinic and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Jason would love the opportunity to be a board member of AALAM and help the organization rise to new heights. Edward S. Cheng I look forward to continuing to work with fellow attorneys at AALAM who share similar backgrounds and experiences practicing as Asian- Americans in the Boston area. I believe that it is critical for the success of Asian- American attorneys in Boston that we work together to provide each other with support and mentoring. I am a litigation Partner with Sherin and Lodgen LLP, and co- chair of the firm s Professional Liability Practice Group. I specialize in complex commercial disputes, professional malpractice cases, insurance coverage disputes, attorney discipline matters, and real estate litigation. I have also been active with the American Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association. Currently, I am a member of the Massachusetts Judicial Nominations Commission as well as the Commonwealth'ʹs State Ballot Law Commission. I was formerly a member of the Client Security Board for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and a hearing officer for the Board of Bar Overseers. I graduated from Princeton University in 1989 with a degree in Architecture and received my J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1996, magna cum laude. I clerked for Justice Margaret Marshall on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court after graduation. Stephen Y. Chow Steve has served on the AALAM Board since 1998, focusing on law student outreach and member professional development. A graduate of Harvard College and GSAS in Physics and of Columbia University Law School (with an intervening stint at Princeton), Steve is a partner in the Boston firm of Burns & Levinson LLP with a practice in developing patent portfolios for and financing diverse technology- oriented enterprises and litigating their business and intellectual property disputes. Since 1995, he has taught "ʺCounseling Technology- Leading Emerging Enterprises"ʺ and "ʺLitigating Technology Disputes"ʺ at Suffolk University Law School. An active member of the American Law Institute and a
4 Uniform Law Commissioner appointed by four Governors he participates in the updating of the Uniform Commercial Code and the drafting and restatement of other laws relating to electronic commerce and intellectual property, and has authored treatises on electronic commerce, internet and international computer law published by Matthew Bender/Lexis- Nexis. He is on the Uniform Law Commission s drafting committee on a uniform law for Prevention of and Remedies for Human Trafficking. Steve served on the Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Commission, as counsel to the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Asian- American Professionals, on the Council of the Boston Bar Association and on the Executive Management Board of the Massachusetts Bar Association. He wishes to continue service in helping APA'ʹs network and develop professionally in the Boston area. Len A. Ho Len Ho is Director and Senior Corporate Counsel at Boston Scientific Corporation, a leading innovator of medical solutions that improve the health of patients around the world. Len is the primary legal contact for Global Corporate Functions including Strategic Sourcing, Information Technology, Corporate Sales and Environmental, Health and Sustainability. He previously served as a Managing Director at Sallie Mae/Upromise and Assistant General Counsel at Game Show Network Digital. His legal background also includes corporate experience at Mintz Levin (Boston), Edwards Wildman Palmer (Boston) and Brobeck (San Francisco). After receiving his undergraduate degree from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, Len obtained certification as a CPA working in corporate tax at Arthur Andersen (New York). At New York University School of Law, Len was the Vice Chair of APALSA and organized many events aimed at increasing active participation of the membership. As a current member of the AALAM board, Len welcomes the opportunity to continue his service. Sarah G. Kim I recently joined the state Attorney General'ʹs Office as an Assistant Attorney General in the Fraud & Financial Crimes Division, after ten years of practicing securities- related litigation at Bingham McCutchen. As AALAM'ʹs immediate past president, I am excited about how far the organization has come and want to continue making it relevant to members and non- members. AALAM was the vision of a handful of Asian American attorneys who got together regularly for camaraderie and professional support. We are now an organization of over 200 practitioners, law school students and judges. The organization grows by providing quality events, including a beer & wine tasting, financial planning program, and partnership panel discussion. As a returning member of the board, I will ensure that the organization continues the mission established by AALAM'ʹs Founders. Steven S. Kim I have been a board member since I am a sole practitioner in Boston. My practice is a mixture of criminal and civil litigation; and representing individual clients in residential and commercial real estate transactions. I also handle formation of small business entities and local licensing matters. Prior to opening my practice, I was an Assistant District Attorney with the Suffolk County District Attorney s Office; and prior to that was a Law Clerk to the Justices of the Superior Court of Massachusetts. I received my B.A. in English, M.A. in Higher Education Administration, and J.D. all from Boston College. I am a recent veteran of the war in Afghanistan.
5 Vincent Lai Vincent Lai is an associate at Proskauer Rose LLP, where he primarily practices intellectual property litigation (patent litigation, patent prosecution and trademarks). He currently serves as Proskauer s Asian Lawyer Affinity Group representative from the Boston office. He received his J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law, where he held several positions in the American Pacific American Law Student Association. Prior to law school, Vincent worked as Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He received a M.S. and B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Boston University. Vincent joined the AALAM board in order to better serve the APA community in Massachusetts. Rachel Lee Rachel is Senior Corporate Counsel at EMC Corporation. Her practice focuses on corporate governance matters, including the review and implementation of governance best practices, communication with shareholders and other stakeholders, and sustainability as well as providing legal support for key committees of the Board of Directors. She also advises on a wide range of securities law matters, including issues involving public company disclosure, proxy statements and shareholder meetings, and SEC filings. Rachel received a B.A. from Columbia College and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. Rachel has served on the AALAM Board since She looks forward to continuing her work with the in- house AALAM community and supporting the activities of AALAM. Tony K. Lu Tony K. Lu is an associate at Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy PC, where he focuses his practice on the defense of professional, product, and premises liability cases. Previously, he served as the assistant to Special Master Honorable Charles B. Swartwood III (ret.), appointed by the Secretary of Commerce, to investigate claims of law enforcement misconduct against the fishing industry. He received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he served as co- president of APALSA, and his B.A. in Economics and Asian Studies from Skidmore College, where he was a four- year member of the varsity crew team. A native of Boston s Chinatown, Tony hopes to continue doing more community work through AALAM to benefit the greater Boston Asian American community. Michelle Rhee Michelle Rhee is Associate General Counsel and Managing Director at Bank of America. At the Bank, she leads a team of attorneys who support the development and distribution of investment products and services within the Bank s Global Wealth and Investment Management Division, including its Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and US Trust businesses. These products include the Bank s proprietary money market funds, distribution of third party mutual funds, separately managed accounts, alternative investment funds, capital market products including market linked investments, insurance products, bank trust products and retirement services. On an interim basis, she also currently serves as the lead counsel for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, a national financial advisory business which develops strategies that provide investment, personal, retirement and banking solutions through more than 15,000 Financial Advisors.
6 Michelle also previously served as the Chair of the Legal Department s Diversity and Inclusion Business Council ( and ), where she led a team of attorneys who developed both internal and external focused initiatives designed to foster a diverse and inclusive department and legal profession. Michelle has been at Bank of America since Prior to joining the Bank, Michelle was an Associate and Junior Partner at WilmerHale from Michelle has a BA from Smith College and a JD from Boston University School of Law. Leslie Su Leslie Su is the principal of Minerva Law, P.C. She represents debtors, creditors, trustees, and unsecured creditors committees in a variety of bankruptcy contexts and she also represents businesses and individuals in litigation. Leslie is an active member of the Boston Bar Association, where she co- chairs the Bankruptcy Section Diversity & Inclusion Committee and the Diversity & Inclusion Section Mentoring Committee. She volunteers as a mediator in courts throughout Massachusetts and she is also a legal research and writing instructor at Boston University School of Law. Leslie is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Boston College Law School, where she was an officer of APALSA. She looks forward to working with the AALAM Board and meeting more AALAM members this year. Randall B. Yee Randall B. Yee currently serves as Corporate Development Manager and counsel at Diesel Direct, Inc. Diesel Direct is a leading coast- to- coast supplier of on- site mobile diesel refueling services, providing data driven fueling solutions for local, regional and national commercial truck fleets. Previously, Randall served as a staff trial attorney for the Committee for Public Counsel Services Children and Family Law Division where he provided legal representation and advocacy for children and indigent parents in state intervention/child welfare matters. Prior to that Randall was an associate at Lui & Frasca, P.C. where he focused his practice on probate and estate administration, wills and trusts, taxation and business law. Randall received his B.A. from Tufts University and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, where he served as President of APALSA. Randall also currently serves as a Trustee for the Harry H.
