1 Revision A Direct AC Wiring Option Installation Guide The direct AC wiring option enables you to wire AC power directly in to the ADP InTouch. The option kit contains the following parts. 25mm 12mm Caution: A licensed electrician must connect the direct AC wiring option to the AC power line. 2 Before you begin Electrical wiring must comply with all applicable national, federal, state, and local codes and standards. If you are installing the ADP InTouch and have been referred to this guide by the ADP InTouch installation guide, ensure that you have already completed the following tasks: Mounted the base of the ADP InTouch to the wall. Turned off the power to the AC power line. Run the AC power line through conduit to a location just below the ADP InTouch. (See the illustration in step 2.) Caution: The AC line that supplies power to the ADP InTouch must be equipped with an appropriate disconnect device (20A maximum circuit breaker). Do not connect the power line of the ADP InTouch to circuits being used for electrical devices that draw large amounts of power, such as air conditioning units, electrical motors, or compressors. Also avoid running communications cable near devices that interfere with data transmission (for example, large electrical motors, fluorescent light ballasts, and transformers). Step 1: Open the cable access hole Warning: Be sure that the power to the AC line is turned off. Avertissement : Assurez-vous que l'alimentation de la ligne à courant alternatif est éteinte. 3 Step 2: Connect the electrical conduit to the unit Note: Be sure that a licensed electrician is available to connect and assemble the internal AC option, beginning with this step and continuing through step 6. Warning: You must have a licensed electrician connect the direct AC wiring option to an AC power line. This connection requires 14 AWG (or heavier) conductors to the AC wiring option. Also, the AC line must be equipped with an appropriate disconnect device (20A maximum circuit breaker). 4 Step 3: Connect the direct AC wiring terminal block to the unit Attach the direct AC wiring terminal block to the knockout plate on the base of the ADP InTouch. 5 Step 5: Connect the transformer and AC power cables to the terminal block Warning: Be sure that the power to the AC line is turned off. 6 Step 6: Connect the shield and LNG cover to the terminal block Fold the shield along the perforated line at a 90 degree angle and then insert over the direct AC wiring terminal block, with the flap of the shield on the right, as shown. Then insert the LNG cover and tighten the screws. 25mm Important: Be sure the secondary wiring (for example, the transformer or optional battery) is threaded securely through the clips provided on the unit so that those cables do not come in contact with the primary wiring that is connected from the conduit to the direct AC wiring assembly. 6 Direct AC Wiring Option Installation Guide
