1 Outcomes* 1. Incorporate the philosophical foundations of nursing knowledge into research. 2. Complete original research that contributes to nursing knowledge and translation into practice. 3. Synthesize knowledge from nursing and other disciplines within a specific domain, using critical analysis. 4. Integrate relevant knowledge of culture, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation into nursing research. 5. Conduct research that contributes to the reduction of health disparities locally and globally. 6. Use conceptual frameworks and/or theories to guide the research process. 7. Demonstrate scientific and ethical integrity in the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of research. 8. Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary scholars in research. 9. Participate in academic, research, practice, or policy initiatives. 10. Engage in activities that promote professional socialization as scholars. 11. Either one of the required 5 Dissertation Related Electives will need to be for 4 credits or an additional 6 th elective of one credit or more will need to be taken. *** Students who have finished coursework, but have not passed Final Dissertation Defense must register either for the one credit PhD Advisement course or for another course at NYU with a minimum of one credit each semester until they have passed final defense of their dissertation.
