3 Welcome to 2011 Practical - Cooperative - Interactive Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen, is an interdisciplinary Live Meeting, held mostly in German with English translation, reflecting the state-of-the-art treatment of patients with coronary, rhythm and structural heart disease. Key topics are interdisciplinary diagnostic methods and therapy determined by cooperating cardiologists and cardiac surgeons ( heart team according to the new ESC guidelines). Since our first Meeting in 2008, our motto has been: up-to-date in two days. These two days in Munich s BMW Welt cover novel interventional and surgical approaches that are highlighted in the six sessions with many live transmissions. In line with the ever closer cooperation of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists, our objective is to promote medical education by showing actual procedures in live transmissions which underline what is effective and what is possible, but also what should be avoided and how to react to unforeseen events. Although the Meeting is organized by German, Austrian and Swiss Centers, Martin B. Leon, MD and Gregg W. Stone, MD from New York, will be offering the highlight presentations of TCT Our cooperation with TCT will be further intensified this year.
