NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Certification Information All certification testing is computer-based and conducted at one of the 250 U. S. Prometric Test Centers. The next testing window for PHR and SPHR is December 1, 2014 January 31, 2015. To avoid a late fee, register for your exam early. For best results, schedule your certification exam after the end of your class section. For information on the exam and to register, visit hrci.org While no single course of study guarantees success on the Human Resource Certification Institute examinations, thousands of individuals have used the SHRM Learning System to effectively prepare for the exams. To maintain your certification, you must recertify every three years by documenting your continuing professional education and relevant experience or by re-examination. Professional development classes, seminars, conferences, and courses, such as those offered at NYIT, are appropriate for recertification credit. See page 4 for additional information. Effective January 1, 2015 Starting January 1, 2015, SHRM will be offering a new credential. The SHRM Learning System will be revised to accommodate the requirements of the new credential. SHRM supports your decision to prepare for and take the current exam for the existing credentials. If you pass your exam, you will be eligible to receive the new SHRM credential free of charge from January 1 December 31, 2015. During this period, you will be invited to obtain the new SHRM certification by completing the following process: Document that your current certification is in good standing Sign the SHRM code of ethics Complete an online educational module and brief online tutorial on HR competencies. Once you go through this process, you will receive the new SHRM credential and will begin a three-year SHRM recertification cycle. If you do not pass your HRCI exam during the December 2014 - January 2015 test window, and you purchased the current 2014 SHRM Learning System, SHRM will provide the new 2015 SHRM Learning System free of charge. This will help you prepare for the new SHRM exam, held May - July 2015. School of Management XHRC-801 SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program The SHRM Essentials of HR Management is an introductory course offering a comprehensive overview of human resource roles and responsibilities.
