The Patient Portal The Patient Portal is a website designed by Office Practicum to help your practice save time completing administrative tasks and delivering important information to patients. The Portal makes it incredibly easy for practices to develop and post original content, such as blog posts and articles, and deliver news and resources to patients in a quick, paperless way. The Portal also enables patients to perform a variety of tasks, such as accessing detailed immunizations and medication lists, update contact information, requesting forms and messaging office staff, through a direct link to your OP database. 1
Content Creation Your Site, Your Content The portal is designed to make it easy for doctors and practice administrators to create original content, such as practice information, articles on seasonal illnesses, and answers to frequently asked questions. The new and improved content editor features the ability to drag-and-drop content, and a WYSIWYG text editor. Once created, all content is stored within a content library and can be reused across multiple parts of the site. The portal supports content lifecycle management by allowing administrators to delay the publication, force expiration, or prompt for review of content on certain dates. What You See Is What You Get editor features easy-to-use formatting tools and requires no knowledge of coding Let It Be Blogged! Create and post blog entries with a few simple clicks A blog is a great way to keep your patients up to speed on news, events and important updates in the office, town or region. Why not incorporate one directly into your practice website? The Portal s blog editor makes it easy to type, format and publish text entries, just as you would a Microsoft Word document or email. Similar to articles, all saved blog entries are stored in the blog library, whether or not they are published for public viewing, and can be used again in the future. 2
Patient Self-Service Take a load off the front desk The Portal offers patient access to the following information. Access can be controlled by granting permissions individually to each of the patient s contacts (see Flexible Permissions, below). Online Medical Records Immunization Records in a Snap...or Click! Using the Online Patient Services section of the site, parents can review and print their child s vaccination history. When enabled, the vaccination page can also show vaccination forecasting information using the same powerful VacLogic forecasting engine built into Office Practicum. Access the Basics. Parents can also view their child s growth history, allergy history, and upcoming appointments. Statement Access & Payments. The Portal is one-click integrated with Instamed online payment. Demographic Information Empower your patients and their parents to maintain their own demographic information. Users can login to change their email, password, and password reminder question. They can also submit address and phone number changes for themselves and their families. Since the portal is fully integrated with your OP database, the changes are immediately reflected within the Patient Register in Office Practicum. Online Flu Clinic Scheduling The Flu Clinic feature of the portal allows patients to schedule a Flu Clinic appointment within a pre-defined period. In order to book an appointment, patients must be deemed eligible for the seasonal flu vaccine by the VacLogic forecasting engine. Online scheduling for the clinic is automatically disabled once the Flu Clinic period is full. Secure HIPAA Compliant Online Messaging The portal allows parents to exchange secure messages with designated members of the practice staff. Unlike email, these messages are secure and HIPAA-compliant, and all messages will be routed directly to the Message Manager in Office Practicum. All messages exchanged with parents through the Portal become an indelible part of the patient s medical record. Flexible Permissions Your practice controls who can access patient records. Each patient s contact has a unique login and password, authorized to access a specific list of patients, and managed within Office Practicum. These permission controls are designed to accommodate complex family scenarios. In addition to fine-grained permissioning between contacts and patients, the portal always repspects the privacy level set on records within OP. For example, sensitive medications marked as private within Office Practicum will not be displayed for refill on the portal. 3
Syndicate & Integrate Keep patients posted with the latest pediatric and medical news Have your website automatically display the most up-to-date stories from national or local online sources. The RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feature makes it easy to cull and display links to news stories from any website, using your site s look and feel. >>> READY TO BOTH PUBLISH AND CONSUME RSS EXPLAIN RSS Patients can easily access top news stories from the AAP, WebMD, or any website that has RSS capabilities. Setting up the RSS couldn t be easier. Simply enter the sites RSS url and select your feed settings that s it! Want your content, blog or opinions to be widely available beyond your website? Internet users can pick up your RSS-ready content using web browsers, news reading sites, mobile devices, or content management platforms such as WordPress, Joomla, and others. 4
Smart Tracking Make Your Website Work for You The Patient Portal features full, integrated access to Google Analytics Web Analytic Service and Google AdWords advertising service*. Google Analytics (GA) provides information and tools that help you optimize and track traffic to your website. For practices looking to grow, GA offers the opportunity to purchase targeted ads, run ad campaigns, and track the effectiveness of ads and campaigns. For established practices, the GA platform can be used to track users as they visit the site, visualize which components of the site are engaging users the most, track visitor loyalty and patient registration, calculate average visit time, and summarize visitor locations. *GOOGLE is a trademark of Google Inc. 5
Other Features Built-in Search Parents, patients and staff can search for specific content easily. Customized and targeted searches can be added to most pages within the Portal. For example, a search box can be added to drive through all of the articles on a particular topic in the patient education section of the site. Interactive User Experience Patients and families can do more than read your articles and other content - they can also have the option (when enabled) to rate the helpfulness of this content and contribute comments and feedback. Additionally, your practice can create and post other interactive modules such as polls addressing common issues or questions. Fully Managed The Portal software comes to your practice pre-installed on a dedicated appliance. The appliance is a fast, secure server designed to run the Portal only. All management of the appliance, including backups of all Portal users, content, and configuration, is performed by Connexin Software. Since the Portal connects directly to your OP database, no patient information is stored on the Portal server. 6
