Section 1: Description and Justification of Changes Describe and justify proposed changes to degree/certificate program: The department received a directive from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to reduce the total credit hours necessary to complete our Associate of Science (AS) degrees to a maximum of 66 hours. In order to comply with this mandate, while maintaining the integrity of the field of study courses, it is necessary to select courses from the Core that will achieve the reduction in hours with the least negative impact on general education goals and student learning.
