2013-2014 LIXI Nominated Directors Information The biographies contained in this Nominated Directors Information sheet are listed in alphabetical order by candidate surname, not by seniority, time served on the LIXI Board or experience. Nominated by: Sandstone Martyn Beer Martyn Beer manages Lending Solutions at Sandstone Technology. Sandstone is a leading supplier of loan origination, internet banking and online managed solutions to major banking and financial institutions both in Australia and overseas. For more than thirty years, Martyn has held senior roles within the Australian financial services and technology sectors. As part of his role at Sandstone, he is working towards the development of uniform electronic standards for the Australian lending industry. Martyn s experience includes 15 years strategic and operational management experience in the lending operations of organizations such as Midland Bank, Colonial State Bank, BankWest, Liberty Financial and Guardian. In addition to this, Martyn has operated as an independent introducer to several aggregators and funders for both retail and large commercial mortgages. He has also spent over 15 years delivering substantial technology programs to the financial services industry at IBM, Hewlett Packard, Siemens, and Satyam Computer Services. At Sandstone, Martyn manages a global team of 180 lending specialists developing and delivering technology platforms and business transformation programmes to lenders globally. This team has been developing, deploying and supporting Sandstone s LendFast loan origination system since 2001 and is currently delivering Sandstone s third generation LendFast system. Nominated by: Advantedge Milton Chan Milton has over 13 years experience in the financial services with companies such as NAB and GE. He is currently the Head of Technology for NAB s intermediary based mortgage business which includes the aggregators; PLAN, CHOICE and FAST as well as the lenders Homeside and Advantedge. Milton is also responsible for NAB s Financial Planning technology teams within MLC. This scale allows Milton to realize the benefits of standards in improving business outcomes as he manages Australia s largest in-house technology team focused around Mortgage Brokers. Nominated by: ING Direct Seconded by: MFAA Lisa Claes Lisa Claes has over 15 years experience at an executive level in the banking and wealth management industries. She has run all retail business units within ING Direct (digital, third party, direct, wholesale and commercial) and the life and customer service divisions of ING Australia. Prior to her business line roles Lisa practiced as a barrister and then as General Counsel for all of ING Group's Australian and New Zealand entities which included enterprise wide responsibility for the compliance and operational risk frameworks. She serves as a director on the boards of ING Bank and ING Direct and is on the Board of Trustees for Loreto. Rachel Copley Nominated by: Commonwealth Bank of Australia Rachel has been the Executive Manager Home Loan End-to-End Process at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) since August 2011. Rachel drives home loan end-to-end process capability focusing on customer experience, process turnaround time and straight through processing. She has been at the CBA since 2009 and prior to home loans was an Executive Manager in Deposit & Transaction Products. Rachel has over 15 years financial services, risk management and process development experience from CBA, Westpac, PricewaterhouseCoopers (Sydney & London) and Barclays (London). Rachel has a BSc Hons from the University of Leeds in the UK. Nominated by: ANZ Glenn Haslam Glenn has over 27 years experience in financial services with over 15 years at ANZ in various roles and is currently General Manager, Transformation (Australia). His most recent roles being acting Managing Director, Product Strategy & Marketing and General Manager, Deposits & Mortgages. Prior to this he was General Manager, Specialist Businesses where he led ANZ's Broker Distribution, Mobile Lending, Mortgages Direct, Foreign Exchange and ATM businesses. Nominated by: QBE LMI John Hearne John has been heavily involved with LIXI for many years, becoming a member and Director in 2003 and served as Chairman of the LIXI Board from 2005 to 2011. John s previous positions include organisational strategy, IT strategy, IT management, program/project management, business process re-engineering, facilities management, business continuity management and varied roles within the banking industry. Professional activities and qualifications are a MBM (Mgt) from UTS Sydney and a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). John s LIXI involvement has encompassed leading the Board towards ensuring that LIXI stays focused on goals/ strategy, leading and implementing a Board succession plan initiative, active involvement in the Board sub-committees; and working with the Board on a repositioning of LIXI to deliver a change in the way LIXI delivers value to Members into the future. Nominated by: MFAA Paul Lahiff Paul runs his own consultancy business specialising in strategy formulation, change management, distribution strategy, talent management and succession planning, focusing on the financial services sector. He is Chairman of the New Payment Platform Steering Committee, Retail Finance Intelligence, Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers, and is a director of Cancer Council NSW. He has over 30 years experience in the financial services industry including previously as Managing Director of Mortgage Choice. Paul holds a BSc from Sydney University and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA), and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Paul has acted as the Chairman of the LIXI Board for the last two years, and prior to that Paul provided consulting advice to LIXI, particularly in the area of strategy facilitation and effective governance. David Maher Nominated by: Leadpoint Mortgage Services Seconded by: Pontifx Pty Ltd David Maher obtained his Bachelor of Law in 1985 and has over 25 years experience providing national loan documentation and settlement services and developing digital strategies for banks, mutual and non-bank lenders / intermediaries. David is a member of the LIXI Technical subcommittee (TSC), an active contributor to and sponsor of LIXI Forums and contributor to the development of LIXI standards (including the draft LIXI Settlement Instructions version 1.2a Schema Guidebook). Leadpoint Mortgage Services has developed online mortgage services for lenders to instantly generate loan documentation packages, communicate and settle loans within loan origination platforms. David is a keen supporter of the LIXI initiative, and to the continued development, delivery and promotion of LIXI Standards, which he considers essential for the industry to develop a digital, paperless mortgage transaction with the commencement of PEXA in Q3 2014. The opportunities to improve processing inefficiencies and the customer experience are great, and with combined industry, legal, business and technology experience, David welcomes the opportunity to actively assist LIXI further develop the standards and enhance their usability and adoption. Nominated by: Aussie Home Loans John McDonald John is the CFO and a Director of Aussie Home Loans, Australia s leading non-bank retail financial services group and has been with Aussie since 2006. He has broad based experience in the financial services sector investment banking, retail banking, wealth management and asset management. John was previously at AMP Limited where he has held roles as Group Treasurer and Finance Director of AMP Financial Services. His interest in LIXI stems from a focus on process inefficiencies across the sector and the opportunity to reduce costs and improve customer pricing. John s qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics, University of Sydney as well as being a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Nominated by: Smartline Jason Millett Jason Millett is the Global CIO, Head of Transformation Programme and Global Head of ecommerce at Billabong. He is accountable for strategic technology transformation as well as day to day operation of the global IT function. Previously, Jason was in senior management at the Westpac Group where he held positions as General Manger Strategy in the Consumer Financial Services Division, and joint CIO and Head of Transformation for the Product & Operations Division. During this time he led the development of the Bank s consumer and business product strategies, focused on simplification, and integration of banking and product services across Westpac and St George brands. He has overseen the execution of major strategic investment priorities, in particular the consolidation of core banking services for the Group onto a single platform. Jason brings years of experience in change and transformational leadership through business and IT roles across business and financial services. Nominated by: Mortgage Choice Neill Rose-Innes Extensive experience in the financial services industry for over 13 years having fulfilled executive roles in lender, direct distribution and third party distribution companies, including RAMS, Greenway and Mortgage Choice. Roles include GM Operations and CIO roles with responsibility for technology and operational efficiency. I have a strong appreciation of the importance and value to the industry of adopting common standards to improve the proposition for all constituents, and at the same time improve financial returns.
