International Affairs Office International Affairs Office (ARI) is attached to Rector s Office at Federal University of Parana (the UFPR). Its main task is the implementation and development of international policy as well as the promotion of the university s internationalization process. UFPR is engaged in extensive cooperation and exchange with prestigious universities around the world, and otherwise learning from its international counterparts. Currently the University has close cooperative relations with about 110 universities different countries. The ARI Office fosters and ensures the continuity of the university s international policy in accordance to the strategy for institutional growth and qualification of its academic activities. The university has continued to make significant advances on its path to internationalization creating its own mobility program to students and staff members. Besides the UFPR international guidelines is also discussed to the Local Committee of International Relations created in each Faculty that supports the accomplishment of our international strategies. Since 2009 UFPR offers a fellowship program from its own funding to support national and international mobility. The internationalization plan takes on account the policy to integrate the university to the various existing international research networks as well as establishing and strengthening international research network in interdisciplinary research areas, where there are substantial needs from the viewpoint of human society in globalised world. The internationalization plays and important role to the understanding of multi-cultural societies and taking up new responsibility to train citizens of world engaged to human s rights and peace culture.
General Information During the almost 100 years from its founding in 1912 UFPR has been committed to promote the self sustained development of society through the generation of knowledge, forming qualified human resources and in commitment with the development of citizenship. UFPR has been engaged as a public university with academic excellence. As a social institution the university offers community services reaffirming its ideals through its capacity of cultural, intellectual, scientific and technological fields. It comprises almost all areas of the human activity.

Research and Excellency The UFPR Research Plan establishes eight thematic areas of knowledge as the main research areas as follows: Agricultural and Forestry Technologies Biodiversity Biotechnology Environment and Development Health Materials Sciences and Engineering Scientific and Computational Modeling Society and Culture The research activities at UFPR have almost four hundred accredited groups that involve more than one thousand faculty members. The accreditation of these groups is organized at UFPR by the Research and Postgraduate Provost Office and nationwide by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
