services E v a c u a t i o n R e p a t r i a t i o n If a member is in need of emergency in-patient treatment or already hospitalised in a location lacking the appropriate facilities, they will be evacuated to the nearest location that appropriate services are available Repatriation is designed to bring a member back to either their principal country of residence or home country. Repatriation is available to members that were moved by us for the purposes of emergency in-patient treatment to a different location. evacuations The Evacuation Service is offered as an optional ALC Health plan benefit when emergency in-patient treatment is required but necessary treatment is not available locally All evacuation and treatment arrangement will be made by our experienced operational and medical teams Transport methods are determined by what is medically appropriate, necessary and available at the time of incident Throughout the process our main priority is the safety and wellbeing of the member whilst ensuring regular communication with the member and/or their chosen contact(s). An air ambulance was arranged including road ambulance with doctor escort for both ends of the journey. It took less than 24 hours from having established diagnoses to admittance into an appropriate facility in Spain Urgent surgery was performed upon arrival for a perforated appendix The in-patient stay was clinically monitored by the AXA Assistance medical team and they were in regular contact with the treating Doctor regarding the patients progress and the members preferred point of contact / family member AXA Assistance facilitated the repatriation back to his chosen destination
