IxNetwork IxCloudPerf QuickTest Technology Overview The networking industry is in the midst of a fundamental change towards centralization of application delivery via concentrated and dense private and public data center cloud computing sites. Corporations are concentrating IT spending in data centers and scaling them up via server virtualization to reduce complexity and associated operational cost, while enjoying capital cost savings. While traditional benchmarking tools provide the latency and throughput measurement of the device/network, the same cannot be applied to a data center. In a typical data center, there are various North-South (server-client) traffic but at the same time there are also various East-West (server-server) traffic. It is therefore required that organizations validate the performance of a data center fabric under the variety of North-South and East-West traffic condition. Key Features Quick Configuration of realworld North-South and East- West application traffic profiles Add realism to the traffic profile by enabling custom/imix frame size and bursty traffic Assign various QoS parameters to traffic profiles Unique Weight option ensures that none of the traffic ports are oversubscribed Ability to add background traffic such as multicast 3 unique modes to allow various user cases Perform the traditional Step operation to find out the No Drop Throughput performance of the network/dut Alternatively create the unique traffic pattern of the data center using the Timeline configuration at various time intervals and measure the throughput, latency, and packet loss Dynamic mode allows users to interact with the Traffic profile load while the test is running; perfect for PoC and demo showcase at tradeshows Comprehensive test report Figure 1 Traditional RFC2544 test in action 26601 Agoura Road Calabasas, CA 91302 USA Tel + 1-818-871-1800 www.ixiacom.com Document No.: 915-1906-01 Rev A October 2013 - Page 1
IxCloudPerf QuickTest The IxNetwork IxCloudPerf QuickTest (QT) is the first of its kind to emulate various North-South and East-West traffic loads and validate the forwarding performance of the data center fabric. It uses the real-world application traffic profiles to mimic data center application traffic. Using this QT, users can simulated realistic data center application traffic patterns and measure the performance of the device/network under test. Figure 2 IxNetwork IxCloudPerf QT solution Page 2
