OPTIMIZATION AND CONTROL OF BIOTECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES The original methods, algorithms and calculation programmes are elaborated for mathematical modeling, prediction, optimization and adaptive control of manipulated technological parameters of batch and fed-batch fermentation processes. Purpose of the technology: Solving of particular optimization and control problems of industrial and laboratory scale biotechnological processes. Application of advanced methods and algorithms for solving optimization and automatic control problems of batch and fed-batch biotechnological processes: optimization of technological parameters time profiles; automatic set-point control of key technological parameters. Optimization and control technique is based on original methods of bioprocess modeling, optimization, state estimation and adaptation of controller parameters. For solving of particular optimization problems the specialised software programs are elaborated. EXAMPLES OF FIELDS: optimization of temperature, ph and feed rate time profiles maximizing productivity of antibiotics, enzymes, etc. industrial fermentation processes; automatic control of dissolved oxygen concentration in batch and fedbatch fermentation processes; automatic control of biomass specific growth rate in fed-batch culture of microorganisms. SERVICE SYSTEM KLAS SYSTEM OBJECT Help to organize and account client service process in a way of storing information about service department operations, clients, contracts and different kind of resources and giving comprehensive reports. KLAS system is developed to allow authorized intranet users process information about service requests (events), clients (companies and persons), contracts, equipment (products, modules, spare parts) usage, tasks and works done. Stored data gives the reports about events, works and resources (time, equipment, engineer work hours, transport) usage by period, client, contract and other parameters. CONTACT PERSON MAIN COMPONENTS The system use multi-tier technology. It is made of 4 basic components: 1. Data server; All users processed data are stored in one place server database. 2. Web server; Web server listens for HTTP requests, returns to the user web pages with reports and applets. 3. Server program; This java component using RMI (Remote Method Invocation) receives data manipulation commands from the client program and through JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) connection with the database executes data manipulation transactions. 4. Client program; Client program basically is a running applet in the Internet browser, which gives a graphical user interface to query and manipulate (insert, update, delete) data. SOFTWARE SYSTEM IMISTRA 2000 IMISTRA 2000 is a specialized module for accounting of production and storage designed for the companies assembling piece articles. The companies assembling piece articles. CHARACTERISTICS After getting into storage, every detail is registered in the data base according to its serial number. If the unit has not factory serial number, local serial number is ascribed to it. The programme operates with a stroked code scanner, which allows prompt entering and choice of codes and serial numbers of the goods. A possibility is foreseen to print stroked codes with ELTRON stroked codes printers. The programme has been implemented using technology of a client's server. The data is kept in Interbase data base, which should be very attractive to Lithuanian users as it is distributed free of charge. Interbase is modern SQL data base capable of working with Linux, Sun Solaris, Windows and other operational systems. THE LEVEL OF TECHNOLOGY COMPLETION The programme system IMISTRA 2000 was created at the Faculty of Informatics of Kaunas University of Technology. It was implemented and successfully exploited at UAB "Strauja". POSSIBLE CO-OPERATION Search for partners and foreign market searching.
