Computer requirements How to install Centaur s anti-passback monitoring software How to start Centaur s anti-passback monitoring software Centaur s anti-passback monitoring software is a feature of the Centaur Access Control software and provides operators with a quick way to view and print accurate cardholder access information. Designed to function with the system's Global Anti-Passback feature, Centaur s anti-passback monitoring software allows Centaur operators to monitor when cardholders enter and exit designated doors in real time, retrieve cardholder information, and print customizable cardholder access reports for both local and networked installations. This chapter provides an introduction to Centaur s anti-passback monitoring software. LOCATOR 3
I NTRODUCTION TO CENTAUR S ANTI-PASSBACK MONITORING SOFTWARE Centaur s Anti-Passback Monitoring software is included free of charge with the Centaur 4.0 software. For more information, speak to your local distributor or visit our website at www.cdv Americas.com. Computer Requirements The Centaur 4.0 Access Control software, along with the anti-passback monitoring software, is designed to operate with Microsoft Windows and with IBM or IBM compatible computers. Pentium 800MHz or higher Centaur 4.0 Access Control software DCOM and Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.0 and service pack 1 or higher) MDAC 2.8 for workstation computers (available on the Centaur software CD) 256MB RAM (512MB recommended) 300MB free disk space (1GB recommended) Network Card for connection (as required) CD-ROM Drive required for installation Super VGA Monitor Operating System Requirements Centaur s Anti-Passback Monitoring software has been tested on the following operating system languages: Windows 98 Second Edition (English and French) Windows 2000 Professional Edition (English, French and Spanish) Windows 2000 Server Edition (English, French and Dutch) Windows XP Pro (English and French) If the operating system platform or language you are using to run Centaur s Anti- Passback Monitoring software is not listed above, please contact CDV Americas for an updated list. I NSTALLING CENTAUR S ANTI-PASSBACK MONITORING SOFTWARE Centaur s Anti-Passback Monitoring software installs automatically with the Centaur 4.0 Access Control software. S TARTING CENTAUR S ANTI-PASSBACK MONITORING SOFTWARE 1. Make sure the Centaur Service Manager and the MSDE or SQL Server are running on the computer where the Centaur 4.0 Access Control software is installed. If they are not, click Start Programs CDV AMERICAS Centaur Centaur Service Manager. The Centaur Service Manager window will appear. Click Start/Continue. When the server is running you can close the Centaur Service Manager window. Please note that the SQL Server will automatically be started when you start the Centaur Service Manager. 2. From the computer where the Centaur 4.0 Access Control software is installed, click Start Programs CDV AMERICAS Centaur Administration Console Locator. The Locator Logon window will open. 3. From the Locator Logon window, type the appropriate Logon ID and Password. Centaur s Anti-Passback Monitoring software uses the same Logon ID and Password that is used for the Centaur 4.0 Access Control software. If you are trying to log on to another workstation on the network, type the computer name or IP address of the computer where the Centaur 4.0 Access Control software is installed in the Computer text box. Click OK. The Locator Site Selection window will appear. 4. From the Locator Site Selection window, select the site whose information will be displayed in Centaur s Anti-Passback Monitoring software. The site can always be changed from within Centaur s Anti-Passback Monitoring software (see Setting the Cardholder List Site on page 10). LOCATOR 5

WINDOW OVERVIEW Window Overview Figure 2-1: Menu Bar Contains the software menus. Toolbar The toolbar contains the following: Refresh button - refresh the cardholder list to display the most recent data (see Refreshing the Cardholder List on page 11). Print button - print a customizable report (see Printing Reports on page 10). Site list - select the cardholder list site (see Setting the Cardholder List Site on page 10). About button - view the software version and CDV AMERICAS contact information. Labels The labels (column headings) allow you to sort the cardholder list (see Sorting the Cardholder List on page 10). Cardholder List The cardholder list displays all the cardholders in the selected site. 8 OPERATOR S MANUAL
Table 2-1: Cardholder List Colour Definition LEGEND (green) Green: The cardholder in presently IN. (grey) Grey: The cardholder in presently OUT. (white) White: The cardholder is UNKNOWN*. (blue) Blue: You have selected this cardholder. *Occurs when there is a new cardholder in the system or when a change is made to a cardholder's settings. If programmed correctly within Centaur, the cardholder will cease to be unknown once access is granted to that cardholder. To manually change a cardholder s IN/OUT Location within Centaur s antipassback monitoring software, simply right-click a cardholder from the cardholder list and select the desired status. You can also click a cardholder from the cardholder list and then press the [I] key on your computer keyboard to set the cardholder status to IN, the [O] key to set the cardholder status to OUT or the [U] key to set the cardholder status to UNKNOWN. Customize the Report Define the filtering criteria for the printed cardholder report (see Printing Reports on page 10). 1. From the menu bar, click View Report Settings. The Report Settings window will appear. 2. From the Report Settings window, select the desired report criteria. 3. Click OK. Print Setup Set the printer properties as well as the paper size and orientation. 1. From the menu bar, click File Print Setup. The Print Setup window will appear. 2. From the Print Setup window, select the desired parameters. 3. Click OK. Printing Reports Print a customizable cardholder report. 1. Set the report settings (see Customize the Report on page 10). 2. From the menu bar, click File Print. The Print window will appear. 3. From the Print window, select the desired parameters. 4. Click OK. THE CARDHOLDER LIST The cardholder list contains the access information for every cardholder in the selected site (see Window Overview on page 8). Setting the Cardholder List Site The cardholder list displays the cardholders belonging to either one or all of the sites within the system. To set the cardholder list site, select the desired site from the Site drop-down list located on the toolbar. A site must be communicating with Centaur in order for the anti-passback monitoring software to receive up-to-date information (refer to the Centaur Reference Manual). Sorting the Cardholder List Sort the cardholder list by last name, first name, company, site, location or field time. 10 OPERATOR S MANUAL
In the cardholder list, click either the Last Name, First Name, Company, Site, (In/Out) Location or Field Time label (column heading). Refreshing the Cardholder List The cardholder list automatically refreshes when an Access Granted or Access Denied event occurs in the system. If you wish to verify any other cardholder information, we recommend that you refresh the cardholder list manually to ensure that the list and the Cardholder Information window (see Retrieving Cardholder Information on page 11) displays the correct data. To refresh the list manually, click the Refresh toolbar button. R ETRIEVING CARDHOLDER INFORMATION View a cardholder's first and last name, company, family and card number, and photograph. The cardholder's photograph appears only if it was assigned to the cardholder in Centaur. If you are accessing the Centaur Server from a networked workstation, the drive containing the photo file must be shared by the network computer and Centaur Server computer. 1. Press the Refresh toolbar button to ensure that the information is up-to-date. 2. Double-click the desired cardholder from the list. The Cardholder Information window will appear. 3. If you wish for the Cardholder Information window to remain on top of any other application that is currently running regardless of which window is clicked, select the Always On Top check box. 4.
