Health Care Enhancements Incorporating National WEDI Industry Card Standards and the UnitedHealthcare Branding Transition UnitedHealthcare is the first health company to use the national Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) industry card standards to provide uniformity of information, appearance, and technology for Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid health care ID cards for all business. New data standards mean physicians and care providers can read any carrier s ID card using a single card reader. We believe this is an important step in simplifying the administration of health care. We conducted research with physician offices/practice managers, pharmacists, hospitals and consumers; and we responded to comments and improvements suggested by employers to ensure that we provide the optimal health care ID card. Why Are We Becoming One, Unified Master Brand? We are transitioning to a single UnitedHealthcare brand for our benefits businesses. Our goal is to build a brand that consumers and businesses can turn to for health care benefits no matter where they live, no matter what their age, and no matter what type of product they need. We feel a single UnitedHealthcare brand will make it easier to do business with our company. Key Features of the Health Care Some of the important WEDI health care ID card standards include: Consistency layout based on WEDI standards for data fields, placement and size; personalization and variable information with labels printed on front of card and instructions on back of card Readability limited information on the card, machine readable formatting, and use of large font size Copying/Scanning ability to clearly copy or scan for patient health records with white background Inclusive meets national health care ID card guidelines set by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) What does Community Plan Mean? As part of our rebranding, AmeriChoice and Unison will no longer be used and will now be referred to as UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. The term Community Plan is representative of UnitedHealthcare s effort to provide dedicated service to America s most vulnerable and under-served populations one community at a time, one member at a time. What does Medicare Solutions Mean? Medicare Solutions is the family of Medicare plans that include Part D Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans and Medicare Advantage Plans featuring the UnitedHealthcare, AARP, SecureHorizons or Evercare brand names. As part of our rebranding for 2012, all of the Medicare Solutions products will either be UnitedHealthcare branded, or in the case of the AARP Medicare Plans, insured through UnitedHealthcare.

Q. How do I identify a member s product coverage (commercial vs Medicaid vs Medicare)? A. You will be able to identify the correct product coverage by looking at the logo on the top of your patient s health care ID card where it references UnitedHealthcare, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan or UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions.
