Summary: Status of Big Data Big data is implemented today: 41% of companies are using Big Data at least in pilot scenarios. Main drivers for Big Data initiatives are analyzing large data volumes, better and predictive analysis as well as analyzing polystructured data. Technology used is a mix of existing and new tools. Benefits from big data analysis are foremost making strategic decisions and better steering of operational processes also measurable increase in revenue and cost reduction are reported. Major obstacles you need to consider are the lack of analytical and technical know-how, data privacy and security. 20
