Overview This information will help you successfully install the Cloud Extender and to begin to use Blackberry Enterprise Server integration. Use the checklists to be sure you have met all requirements for installation. What is the MaaS360 Cloud Extender? The MaaS360 Cloud Extender is a small program that runs as a service on a Microsoft Windows machine in your network. The Cloud Extender creates an outbound connection over HTTPS to the MaaS360 portal that is used as a bidirectional communication facility and allows the MaaS360 portal to integrate with your Blackberry Enterprise Server. It performs the following functions: Uses Blackberry Administration APIs Processes device and policy information and transmits it to the MaaS360 portal for reporting and management functions. Receives information from the MaaS360 portal including: o o o Device actions Policy assignments Device Activation Uses Blackberry Administration Service and APIs commands to execute policy assignments and actions Performs Device Activation using BES APIs The MaaS360 Cloud Extender requires that it be configured with a Blackberry Administrator Account with sufficient rights to run as a service and to access run the Administrator APIs. 4
Requirements Checklist Before beginning the installation, make sure the following requirements are met: Item Meets Requirement Blackberry Enterprise Server, for Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes, version 5.0 and above Physical or Virtual Machine with Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows Server as an installation target for the Cloud Extender software (see Release Notes). Blackberry Administrator Account with the following details Supported Authentication Types Exchange: Active Directory, BlackBerry Administration Account (Local Account) Domino: BlackBerry Administration Account (Local Account) Administrator Account should have the following access rights Following pre-defined BES Roles can be used Security Manager Unrestricted network access between the Cloud Extender device or VM and the Blackberry Enterprise Server Administration APIs The Service Account under with Cloud Extender will operate should have https access to the APIs Access to the following URLs from the Cloud Extender machine: https://services.fiberlink.com http://internettest.fiberlink.com https://mpns.maas360.com Blackberry Administrator APIs installed on the server that hosts the Blackberry Administrative Console (BES 5.0 SP1 and above preinstalls these automatically). 5
Deployment Checklist Item Provision a MaaS360 MDM for Blackberry Account with proper MaaS360 rights. Identify a target device to run Cloud Extender software. Select a device that will run at all times and that can be monitored. The Blackberry integration functions depend on the Cloud Extender. Note: This device does not have to be dedicated to the Cloud Extender and the Cloud Extender does not use extensive device resources. Obtain the Cloud Extender software from the MaaS360 Portal. (The package specific to your account can be found on the main page on the right side of the screen after logging on to the portal. Look for the Product Download link). Have the License Key which was sent in the Welcome Email during registration available. It can also be found by clicking the Send License Key link on the MaaS360.com Portal home page. Using the MaaS360 Cloud Extender Installation Guide, install the Cloud Extender software on the target device. Add a suitable Administrator Account as indicated in the installation guide instructions. The Cloud Extender Configuration process will perform various authentication and connectivity tests. Follow the instructions to complete the process. Validate that your installation was successful by verifying that the MaaS360 Visibility service is running. After approximately 15 minutes, log into the MaaS360 portal and verify devices and policies have been synchronized. Optionally, a process monitor can be used to insure that the MaaS360 Visibility service is running on the Cloud Extender device. Completed 6
