Oracle Enterprise Manager Release Notes for System Monitoring Plug-ins 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2) B28199-03 July 2006 These release notes list the System Monitoring Plug-ins that are documented, describe how to access the documentation, and how to install a plug-in. These release notes also describe known issues and limitations. Documentation Description and Access This document contains release notes for the following System Monitoring plug-ins: Check Point Firewall Juniper Netscreen Firewall F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager IBM DB2 Database EMC Celerra Server Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft Internet Information Services(IIS) Microsoft Active Directory Microsoft BizTalk Server Microsoft Commerce Server Microsoft.NET Framework Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server You can access the documentation for the System Monitoring Plug-ins from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN). Alternatively, if you have a DVD, launch the index.htm file from a browser. You can find data sheets, the certification matrix, and other documentation in the OTN under Enterprise Manager and in Metalink. Installing a Plug-in You can download the System Monitoring plug-in archives from OTN by clicking Downloads, then Enterprise Manager. If you have a DVD, the plugin_archives directory contains the necessary plug-in archives to install each of the plug-ins. To install a plug-in, do the following: 1. Copy or Save the desired plug-in archive to your desktop. 1

2. Launch the Enterprise Manager Grid Control console using a browser on your desktop. 3. Follow the instructions outlined in the System Monitoring Plug-in Installation Guide for your particular plug-in. Prerequisites for the Microsoft SQL Server Plug-in If you want to use version 2.0.2.1.0 of the Microsoft SQL Server plug-in, you need to do one of the following: Install this version on Oracle Enterprise Manager Windows Agent version 10.2.0.2. or Apply a one-off patch on Oracle Enterprise Manager Windows Agent version 10.2.0.1. Refer to Metalink and Oracle bug #5349647 for more information. Known Issues The following sections describe known issues that exist for this release. Universal Bugs and Limitations The following generic Enterprise Manager Grid Control bugs and limitations impact all System Monitoring plug-ins. Oracle Bug #4736085 Error message is shown while undeploying the target An inconsistent error state appears if you undeploy System Monitoring plug-ins from multiple Agents, in which some Agents do not have the correct preferred credentials set. - Cause If you first attempt to undeploy plug-ins from multiple Agents, but some Agents do not have the preferred credentials set, an expected error message appears. However, if you then attempt to undeploy from Agents that have the correct credentials set, caching problems continue to show the same error message. - Workaround If you encounter this problem, log out and log back in. Navigate to the Undeploy Management Plug-ins page, and select only the Agents that have preferred credentials set. Oracle Bug #5208953 Plug-in target home page Refresh does not have a time stamp No time stamp appears after clicking the Refresh button on the target home page. Oracle Bug #5219848 Successive deployments have problems if the first deployment failed - Cause Deployment of a plug-in fails on the first attempt on an Agent. Subsequent deployments, though reporting successfully, may not be fully successful. Configuration-related information on the View Configuration page and in reports will display an error. 2

- Workaround Redeploying the plug-in resolves the problem. Clean up Enterprise Manager and remove all traces of the plug-in as follows: 1. Delete all existing plug-in targets. 2. Undeploy the plug-in. 3. Delete the plug-in. 4. Reimport the plug-in. 5. Freshly deploy the plug-in on an Agent that satisfies all prerequisites. Context-sensitive Help None of the System Monitoring plug-ins have context-sensitive online help. This feature will be supported in the future. IBM DB2 Database System Monitoring Plug-in Bugs The following generic Enterprise Manager Grid Control bug impacts the IBM DB2 Database Monitoring plug-in: Oracle Bug #5245415 DB2 Plug-in Error :SQLCODE: -204, SQLSTATE: 42704 - Cause This problem only affects the Database Monitoring metric of the IBM DB2 Database plug-in. This occurs because the table SYSTOOLS.STMG_DBSIZE_INFO does not exist. This table is only created after initial execution of the command, procedure GET_DBSIZE_ INFO, using the command: db2 => CALL GET_DBSIZE_INFO(?,?,?,-1) For more information, refer to the following site: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v8/index.jsp?topic =/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/admin/r0011863.htm - Workaround You can perform this workaround from either the command prompt or the DB2 control center. From the command prompt (proper path settings are needed): 1. Run the db2 command from the prompt. 2. Connect to the specific database by using the command: connect to <database_name> 3. Invoke the procedure get_dbsize_info by using the command: call get_dbsize_info(?,?,?,-1) From the DB2 control center: After connection to the specific database, execute the command: call get_dbsize_info(?,?,?,-1) Oracle Bug #5258262 Error: Extend DB2 Plug-in to support partitioned database The DB2 plug-in currently does not support monitoring of partitioned DB2 databases. If you use the existing version (2.0.1.0.0) of the IBM DB2 Database 3

plug-in to monitor a partitioned database, the plug-in reports information only for the coordinating node. Juniper NetScreen Firewall System Monitoring Plug-in Bugs The following bugs require resolution from Juniper for Juniper NetScreen Firewalls. Oracle Bug #4735609, Juniper's JTAC Case#: 2006-0131-0455 Netscreen Firewall protocol config: web UI configuration shows incorrect data The WebUI port number is not correctly reported by SNMP. This bug causes an incorrect value for Web UI HTTP Port. The value is always displayed as '0' (zero) for the following pages: - Web UI Configuration table of the View Configuration page. Access this page by clicking View Configuration on the Juniper Netscreen Firewall home page. - Web UI Configuration table of the Juniper Netscreen Firewall Protocol Configuration Report. Access this page by clicking Reports on the Juniper Netscreen Firewall home page, then selecting Juniper Netscreen Firewall Protocol Configuration from the View Report drop-down list. Oracle Bug #4735520, Juniper's JTAC Case#: 2006-0131-0461 Netscreen Firewall protocol config DHCP configuration does not show complete data The DHCP Service is not reported correctly on sub-interfaces by SNMP. Consequently, the entry of DHCP Service for sub-interfaces may not be displayed for the following pages: - DHCP Server Configuration table of the View Configuration page. Access this page by clicking View Configuration on the Juniper Netscreen Firewall home page. - DHCP Configuration table of the Juniper Netscreen Firewall Protocol Configuration Report. Access this page by clicking Reports on the Juniper Netscreen Firewall home page, then selecting Juniper Netscreen Firewall Protocol Configuration from the View Report drop-down list. Oracle Bug #4760166, Juniper's JTAC Case#: 2006-0201-0386 Data mismatch of Block Component for Attack Configuration Report Block Component Configuration for Zones are not reported correctly by SNMP. Consequently, the value of Block Component Configuration per Zone is incorrect for the following pages: - Attack Configuration on Each Zone (Block Component column) of the View Configuration page. Access this page by clicking View Configuration on the Juniper Netscreen Firewall home page. - Security Zone-based Attack Configuration ("Block Component" column) of the Juniper Netscreen Firewall Attack Configuration Report. Access this page by clicking Reports on the Juniper Netscreen Firewall home page, then selecting Juniper Netscreen Firewall Attack Configuration from the View Report drop-down list. 4

Check Point Firewall System Monitoring Plug-in Bugs The following generic Enterprise Manager Grid Control bug impacts the IIS System Monitoring plug-in: Oracle Bug #5102151 Plug-in doesn t support monitoring of Check Point Firewall installed on Windows The plug-in does not retrieve information related to performance (memory and CPU) of the host when Check Point Firewall is installed on Windows. Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) System Monitoring Plug-in Bugs The following generic Enterprise Manager Grid Control bugs impact the IIS System Monitoring plug-in: Oracle Bug #5019705 Compare configuration shows error JAVA.LANG.NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION An error occurs when you attempt to compare two saved configurations for an IIS target. Oracle Bug #5396199 You might encounter the error message Error code = 0x80041010 em_error=an error has occurred while fetching WMI data when you open the IIS home page. - Cause NNTP service, SMTP service, or FTP service are not installed on the target machine where IIS is running. - Workaround 1. On the IIS home page, click Metric and Policy Settings link in the Related Links section. 2. From the View drop-down list, select All Metrics. All metrics are displayed. 3. Select the metric you want to disable, then click the collection schedule interval link under Collection Schedule. To disable NNTP Service metric, click Articles Deleted Per Sec metric. To disable SMTP Service metric, click Local Queue Length metric. To disable FTP Service metric, click Total Logon Attempts metric. 4. In the Edit Collection Settings page, go to the Collection Schedule section, then click Disable. The metric and all its counters are disabled. Microsoft SQL Server System Monitoring Plug-in Bugs The following bugs have been fixed for version 2.0.2.1.0 of the Microsoft SQL Server plug-in: Oracle Bug #5055240 Metric Collection Error "Metric has no keys, but result has multiple rows" 5

When Microsoft SQL Server plug-in version 2.0.1.0.0 was deployed on an Oracle Enterprise Manager Agent for Windows (which was installed on a Window 2000 system), the plug-in could not collect metric data for the SQL Server 2000 target. Oracle Bug #5110993 SQL Server names (LOCAL) and (local) are not treated the same For a Microsoft SQL Server default installation, SQL Server Plug-in version 2.0.1.0.0 treated the SQL Server names (LOCAL) and (local) differently. This version fixes this so that the name of SQL Server instances are not case-sensitive. Oracle Bug #5136337 "Product" misspelled as "prodcut" in Reports tab just under Microsoft SQLServer System Configuration page The following Enterprise Manager Grid Control bugs impact the Microsoft SQL Server plug-in: Oracle Bug #5179581 Error: Target in broken state - metric collection errors encountered - Cause This behavior only occurs when the version 2.0.2.1.0 of the SQL Server is deployed on an Agent that is already monitoring a SQL Server target (created using 2.0.2.1.0 version of the plug-in). That is, the target was not removed before upgrading to the higher version. - Workaround Execute the following command: emctl reload agent dynamicproperties <target name>:<target type> OR You can alternatively resubmit the target instance properties: 1. Click on the Monitoring Configuration link (under the Related Links section on the plug-in target home page). 2. Reenter the encrypted properties. 3. Click OK. Microsoft.NET Framework Plug-in Bugs Oracle Bug #5397847 You might encounter the error message Error code = 0x80041010 em_error=an error has occurred while fetching WMI data when target.net framework is running on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. - Cause The following WMI classes are not available with the Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition: * win32_perfformatteddata_netclrdata_netclrdata * win32_perfformatteddata_netclrnetworking_netclrnetworking - Workaround 1. On the.net Framework home page, click Metric and Policy Settings link in the Related Links section. 2. From the View drop-down list, select All Metrics. All metrics are displayed. 6

3. Select the metric you want to disable, then click the collection schedule interval link under Collection Schedule. To disable.net Data Metric, click SQL Client Failed Connects metric. To disable.net CLR Networking, click Connections Established metric. 4. In the Edit Collection Settings page, go to the Collection Schedule section, then click Disable. The metric and all its counters are disabled.
