Irrigation Efficiency Rewards Options for Agricultural Irrigation Customers Make improvements to your irrigation system and earn a financial incentive from Idaho Power.

Irrigation Efficiency Rewards Custom General Information This option pays you an incentive based on an estimated annual reduction in energy usage. For an existing system, the incentive is based on energy savings estimated by Idaho Power of your proposed modifications. For a new system, the incentive is based on installation of a system Idaho Power determines to be more energy efficient than standard. The incentive you receive is determined by the following criteria based on annual kilowatt-hour (kwh) or kilowatt (kw) savings: Existing System 0.25 per annual kwh saved or 450 per kw ( will not exceed 75% of project cost) New System 0.25 per annual kwh saved ( will not exceed 10% of project cost) For example, if Idaho Power estimates your new, more efficient pump will save 15,000 kwh of electricity in an irrigation season, you would receive an incentive for 3,750 (15,000 kwh x 0.25 = 3,750) assuming this amount does not exceed 75 percent of the project cost on an existing system or 10 percent of the cost on a new system. Idaho Power s Irrigation Efficiency Rewards program encourages energy-efficient equipment and design in agricultural irrigation systems. It is an opportunity for Idaho Power agricultural irrigation customers to receive a financial incentive and lower their electric bills. Idaho Power s agricultural representatives (see page 10 for a list) can conduct an energy evaluation free of charge to help you determine what can be changed on your system to make it more energy efficient. Through this program, you may qualify to receive an incentive from Idaho Power for a portion of the cost to install a new, more efficient system or to make energy-efficient improvements to an existing irrigation system. This program is designed to help you pay for energy efficiency upgrades in your irrigation system and to encourage and assist you to use electricity in an economically efficient manner. There are two ways to participate: Custom The Custom is for extensive retrofits of existing systems or the installation of a new irrigation systems. To participate, prior to initiating the project, submit a project proposal for review by Idaho Power to determine the project s energy savings and applicable incentive estimate. 1 Menu The Menu is designed to help cover a significant portion of the costs of repairing and replacing specific components that typically help the irrigation system use less energy. To participate in the Menu option, replace or repair those parts that qualify under the Menu Application and submit the required application and invoices within one year from the date of purchase. 2

All authorized applicants who own or operate an irrigation system used for irrigation of agricultural crops or pasturage which receives service under Idaho Power s Agricultural Irrigation Service Schedule are eligible. Irrigation systems also must have valid state water rights. Can I turn in more than one Menu Application? Yes, submit an application for each service location. However, if you received an incentive for specific components at a given service location, those same components are not eligible for an incentive again for three years. How do I participate in the Menu option? Complete and sign a Menu Application, attach the required receipts or invoices itemizing the sprinkler parts, and mail to Idaho Power within one year from the date of purchase. What if I submit a custom incentive application and change my mind before the project is completed? If the project is installed differently than proposed, energy savings and the incentive will be recalculated. How is this program funded? This program is one of many Idaho Power efforts to encourage the wise use of our energy resources. It is funded through the Energy Efficiency Services charges collected monthly on Idaho Power customers bills, as approved by the state Public Utilities Commission. Why is Idaho Power paying me to use less energy? Energy efficiency benefits all of our customers because it helps delay the need to acquire other more costly resources to meet the load of the electric system. Energy efficiency is good for your business because it can reduce your costs. How can I get assistance to determine if I should make a change? You may contact your area Idaho Power agricultural representative (see phone number list on page 10) and/or seek recommendations and bids from local irrigation system dealers. How do projects qualify for a Custom? Idaho Power will calculate the anticipated energy savings for your project. Calculations will be based on previous energy usage and the proposed pump modifications or new system specifications. Qualifying projects will receive a notice along with an Irrigation Efficiency Rewards Program Agreement, which must be signed by you and returned to Idaho Power. Idaho Power reserves the right to deny Custom participation for irrigation systems that do not comply with industry standards. Access: The Authorized Applicant agrees to permit Idaho Power s employees or representatives reasonable access to the agricultural irrigation system to which any incentive application applies to verify installation and proper program participation. Information release: You, the Authorized Applicant, understand and agree that Idaho Power and/or its representatives may include a description of your agricultural irrigation system and other details relating to your participation in the Menu in its case studies, brochures, press releases, advertisements and other communications material presented to the public. Idaho law: Idaho law will control disputes under and enforcement of this Agreement. The Authorized Applicant expressly submits to jurisdiction in, and waives any venue conflict with, state courts in Ada County, Idaho. Authorized applicant: The Applicant expressly represents, with the intent that Idaho Power rely without independent investigation, that he/she is authorized to act for and on behalf of the customer of Idaho Power for the designated metered service point. The Authorized Applicant agrees to personally indemnify Idaho Power for any claims made or loss or damages incurred by Idaho Power as a result of Idaho Power s reliance on the same. 7 8

Frequently Asked Questions Menu and Custom s, continued How does Idaho Power calculate the Custom I will receive? Idaho Power calculates the energy savings estimate based on past energy usage data for the service location and compares it to the calculated energy usage of the system with the proposed changes. The calculated number is based on submitted information. This energy savings estimate is multiplied by 0.25 per kwh or 450 per kw and compared to 75 percent of the total project cost to determine which is less. The incentive can change if the final invoices vary from the original estimate. How does Idaho Power calculate the Menu I will receive? Idaho Power verifies the number of qualifying items purchased and multiplies that quantity by the pre-determined incentive amount to calculate the total incentive amount. The incentive paid will be the lesser of the incentive or the actual amount paid, unless otherwise restricted by the 50 percent cost limitation. Why is an Irrigation Efficiency Rewards Program Agreement necessary? Idaho Power is committed to the success of this program. To ensure a mutually beneficial collaboration, you will be asked to sign the agreement which sets forth the specific terms and conditions on which this program is based. What pump modifications qualify for the Custom option? All proposals to reduce the energy use of an irrigation system will be considered. Example modifications may include: Low-pressure pivot or linear packages (15 psi if possible) Reduced-pressure nozzles with 40-foot riser spacing Pumps that operate zones of the system at different pressures Larger mainlines to reduce friction loss Pipe to utilize gravity pressure Replacing a pump with one that is more appropriate for the system Lowering the flow rate of a pump through increased application efficiency (savings caused by reduced acres will not qualify) Installing multiple pumps that can run independently when part of the system is turned off Installing a variable speed drive (must be IEEE Standard 519 compliant) Installing flow-control nozzles Installing high-efficiency motors For More Information For more information, additional application forms or information on Idaho Power s Irrigation Peak Rewards program, visit www.idahopower.com/irrigation.
