Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts apply to and are accepted at some of the most prestigious colleges, universities and conservatories in the United States. In the last three years, 99% of BTW seniors graduate from high school and an incredible 98% go onto enroll in college. In addition, BTW seniors are offered college scholarships exceeding $12 million dollars each year. In 2011, 187 graduating seniors were offered $12.65 million dollars in scholarship money! Not only do BTW seniors receive extraordinary amounts of scholarship offers, they are accepted at and attend colleges from across the country. Currently, BTW has alums attending schools as varied as Harvard, John Hopkins, NYU, USC, UCLA, the University of Texas, Julliard, Rice and more! Each year as a part of the school s annual College Showcase event 60-75 colleges travel to BTW and work directly with BTW students. These colleges come and offer master classes, seminars and provide on-site interviews and auditions. This unique event is unlike any event found in any other high school in the US! Special points of interest: Booker T. Washington HSPVA uses the college and career preparatory program, Naviance, to assist students with the college planning process. College Preparedness The following pages list the names of the colleges, universities and conservatories that BTW alums attend. This includes data from the classes of 2008 through 2011. It should also be noted that each year BTW students exceed the district, state and national averages on the PSAT, ACT and SAT. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, BTW was recognized by the ACT Corporation for the outstanding college preparedness of its students. BTW was also recognized by the College Board and AP Strategies for exceptional Advanced Placement results.
