SUBJECT AREA: MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING LEVEL OF STUDIES: GRADUATE UNDERGRADUATE Management and Production Engineering course at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering combines knowledge and skills of the subject areas: Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering and Informatics with the basic economic knowledge and skills to management, economics and marketing. Study on this subject area offers students the knowledge necessary to design and supervision of technical production processes, and implementation of modern methods of management. In the process of training there is particular emphasis on the ability to use it tools to: design (CAD), manufacturing (CAM), ensuring quality (CAQ), planning and control of production processes (systems of MRP, ERP, OPT). Obtaining the title of professional engineer graduate study of the first degree has both the ability to make manager s decisions and solving technical problems according to production engineering. The graduate is prepared to serve on the management and supervision of production processes and systems, effectively using modern methods designed to increase productivity, improve product quality and improving productivity. The special feature of the graduate is able to work in cross-curricular unit. Obtaining the title of professional engineer's degree graduate study of the second degree has advanced the engineering knowledge of mechanical engineering and 5

the scope of the organization and management of enterprises. It is therefore prepared to creative activities in these areas, including: the design of new processes and production systems and their management, conduct and organize research, development and technology transfer. Both at first and second degree, there is the possibility of training in the speciality: Engineering Quality Logistics Management Production and Services Management. Detailed information on standards of training, study plans and programmes under way in the direction of the items are located on the website of the Institute of Computer Science and Production Management: www.iizp.uz.zgora.pl. 1.1 SPECIALITY ENGINEERING QUALITY Graduate of Engineering Quality has a knowledge of the construction and operation of the machinery with the elements of knowledge in economics and applied computer science. Students know well and can implement quality assurance systems and modern techniques of research and development (after studying the second degree). The increasing market competition among enterprises, production and service forces the necessity of quality certificates, and this implies the need to recruit Engineering Quality specialists, of which train economy universities and faculties of economic profile, giving them but, above all, knowledge of aspects of the quality system. In contrast, our graduate has additionally engineering knowledge, which gives him a distinct advantage. Engineering Quality graduate specialities prepared is the inventive and creative work in the field: design, implement and maintain the system quality management based on ISO 9000: 2000, ISO 14000 standards, taking into account the entries and PN-N 18000, realization of internal audits, supervise procedures to raise and maintain certificates of quality, the application of statistical techniques to control production processes, application of technical means of control of the quality of materials and products and processes, 6

identification of defects and analysis of the causes of their occurrence, implementation of commercial-information systems supporting the quality management. 1.2 SPECIALITY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT Graduates of this speciality learned the educational management of the logistics and production engineering, with a particular emphasis is on building skills in the use of it tools supporting the supply chain management, planning and controlling the production, design and engineering costs. These tools include: integrated information systems in support of the ERP class business management SAP, and Record ERP. information technology systems to support the management of projects is MS Project computer aided engineering techniques, CAx systems for modeling and simulation and reengineering of production processes, systems for human resource management and relationships with customers CRM, web systems handling processes, logistics and sales. To prepare the graduates of this speciality to work in enterprises with an international dimension, in the course of studies carried out are international projects with the participation of students and professors of foreign universities. Logistics Management graduate specialities prepared professional and creative execution of the following tasks: the design and organisation of logistics systems of production, supply and distribution, the design and implementation of systems to identify the flow of production based on modern information technologies, the implementation of integrated systems of production enterprise management, the design and organisation of systems of inventory and logistics centres, organization and management of complex systems, transport, internal, external, and intermodal, 7

reengineering of production processes, business and logistics in the production enterprise, the construction strategy of production company (after studying the second degree), construction of models and engineering costs for the production company (after studying the second degree), construction of models for forecasting for the needs of functional undertaking related to the sale of products and supplies in the material (the study of the second degree). The technical education with thorough preparation information, economic and managerial guarantees the employment of graduates in each of the large, medium and small establishments, involved in the production of industrial, trade, services, or the environment and both in areas related to the engineering work, as well as economics, management or marketing of these establishments. 1.3 SPECIALITY PRODUCTION AND SERVICES MANAGEMENT Graduates of speciality get an education with a range of modern methods of production and services management based on knowledge of mechanics, mechanical engineering and economics. Strong emphasis in the didactic is the mastery of information technology and application of computer systems in the management of the company. The training shall also manage the production of quality, which is in accordance with the requirements of the European labour market. Graduates receive a basic knowledge of: computer support engineering, methods for the design and construction and manufacturing, systems consultancy in design engineering, management of production processes, planning, modeling and optimization of production processes, management of innovation and projects, directing teams task forces in the enterprise, organization of service activities, 8

the application of computer systems in the management of the company and in the production, information systems in management and leadership decisions (after studying the second degree), E-Business, e-commerce, economic analysis and valuation of firms (after studying the second degree), management of capital and investments (the study of the second degree), the restructuring of production processes and services (after studying the second degree), artificial intelligence in engineering production (after studying the second degree), entrepreneurship. An interdisciplinary nature of transferred knowledge may be useful also in the management of administration and personnel in production and service enterprises. In addition, graduates are specialities prepared to establish, maintain and manage of a small business. 9
